excitement in your life, do not wait for it to come to you. Only
then will you be able to live today without a need to live tomorrow.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allowsthe protestor to burn the flag.
~Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, Sergeant, USMC (this ones for you)

Duty, Honor, Country: those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be. They are your rallying point to build courage when courage seems to fail, regain faith when there seems to be little cause for faith, to create hope when hope becomes forlorn.
~General of the Army Douglas MacArthur

Just some thoughts from some people i hold in extremely high regard. For those of you who think we should pull out of Iraq, ponder what John Stewart Mills thought about it.

Just remember, a soldier, above all others, desires peace. A soldier, above all others, searches for peace. A soldier, above all others, works for peace.

Thursday, February 26, 2004

Okay, so I strongly dislike liberal hippies. I think its really funny when people tell me that killing is unnecessary and that they are better than me because they choose not to kill. Good for them, they have that luxory. I on the other hand feel a duty to protect my family and freinds and if other people are going to choose not to kill so they dont perpetuate violence, then by goodness, I'm gonna step up and protect my family. I dont enjoy killing, I do it so that other people dont have to. I had an extremely long conversation with a guy getting his PHD in Ecology at CSU (Colorado State University) on Yahoo. He told me straight to my face that killing of any form was irrehensible and that he is superior to me becasue of his decision not to kill. His justification is that if he can convince 1 person not to kill and that one person convinces somebody else, thousands of years from now, all killing will have stopped. Yeah, thats all well and good in an ideal world, but the problem is that we dont live in a perfect world. In fact our world is pretty f'ed up. We have people like Hitler, Stalin, and Bin Ladin in charge of countries and international organizations. He asked me what if everybody under Bin Ladin decided to not fight, well, then we walk in there and arrest him, but they are still fighting. Should we just let Bin ladin do his thing to avoid killing, NO. He has to be stopped, and until Mr. PhD at CSU manages to convince Bin Ladin that killing wont solve anything, people are going to have to shoot thier way in to stop him. I just dont appreciate when people who have never done a single thing to make this country more peaceful other than sitting on their butt saying, "I'm not killing so I am making a difference." Wrong buddy, all that does is have less people standing up against the evil in the world. We need people who are willing to make every sacrifice to keep our nation the shining light of liberty, and if you disagree with the way we accomplish that goal, then get off your butt, and go find a better way. Make a difference. And until you find that better way, dont criticize people who are fighting and dieing to protect your right to complain and whine in English rather than German or Japanese. And don't ever disrespect the soldiers who have already died serving their God, and their country. That is disrespecting some of the most honorable men and women to ever walk this Earth. You think killing is wrong, and that soldiers are war mongers? Go to Washington D.C., find the really long black wall with thousands of names. Then go up to somebody and say those statements to their face. If the hurt and pain in their eyes doesnt make you realize how wrong you are, then you need to sit back and reevalute your life. You want to see the ultimate display of sacrifice and serving a greater cause, go to Arlington National Cemetary. There you will see the most courageous, the most brave, and the most respectable people this country has ever known, thanked by a nation for their sacrifice and service. If you see a Vet, if you can bring yourself to condemn them, more power to ya, if not shake their hand and thank them for the freedoms they secured for you.

Sorry for the long-windedness, but sometimes the right buttons just get pushed.
