WHY DIDN"T I THINK OF THIS BEFORE!!!

Don’t think it’s ironic that there never seems to be enough time in a day…so what do we do, we cut into our sleep time, then are tired and have to make up for it some time, or be on drugs (coffee). THIS IS STUPID!!! Let’s just add more hours to a day, YES!!!! Let’s make it so we have 18 hours of working time, then 10 hours of sleep. It works PERFECTLY!!! This would bring us to 28 hour day, so if we want to keep the seasons in order we will just have six day weeks.

“But Caitie” you all say, “that would mess up our daylight system”. “Look” I reply, “That’s how we work anyhow, we will just get our sleep when need it. I love the night, it’s such a waist for us not be awake for it 50% of the time.”

The reason we have night and day is because we’re spinning around in circles. We let a stupid ball spinning around in space run our lives. WHY!!!???!!!  I just don’t get it. Let’s get on a schedule that really works.

Thanks! Both for the congrats and b-day wish. I don't think it's fully sunk in that I'm never again going to debate in NCFCA...but so far it hasn't been too bad. I'll be around Mod Debate next year, so the transition out won't be quite as hard as it would have been otherwise. Nevertheless, it is really special that you were there for both my very first round and my very last round Thank you.

Hi Caitlin! I have a quick question for you regarding 1800s clothing. I just made a hoop skirt (in the process discovering that geometry is useful in real life ) and now I'm wondering, how in the world are you supposed to sit down in these things!?! Do you have any tips?

Thanks for the tips! My hoops are actually made from materials we had lying arround the house. So the hoops are made out of PVC tubing with wire stuck into the center. I don't know if it's because of the wire I used or if I'm sitting down wrong, but I've been having trouble with them becoming deformed when I sit for a long time... Do you have that problem with yours?

Actually mine isn't a normal hoop skirt...I just took a skirt pattern I have and sewed some casings into three different places (hips, knees and hem) and stuck PVC tubing (with wire in the center) into the casing. I've tried replacing the original wire with stuff that's stronger and it seems to have helped a good deal. But I now know why you recommend making a corset. Sitting on the edge of a chair for an hour = a tired back...maybe that will be my next costume project.

So, I have yet another costuming/pattern making question. I've decided to (attempt) drafting a pattern for a Victorian corset. Do you have any suggestions? Also, how many side seems do I need? I've found online instructions for corsets with anywhere from two to 6 side seems.

How have you been doing? Has summer started yet?
