  • V for Vendetta

Is an amazing movie! I will own in. I also think that everyone should be required to take a moment and watch it with their mind open and their mouth shut. Considering my mood of late I really felt like this story was profound in it’s acceleration of our current political mood. If our government maintains it’s current intolerance of anything “different” then we will live in a totalitarian state, where people are persecuted for their thoughts and beliefs. Take a look around you, read the headlines. We are moving at an alarming rate toward an America that I personally do not want to live in. We are developing an amazing intolerance for those of a different sexual orientation, lifestyle, religion, family value. Why should anyone suffer just because they do not live the same way as the upper class, middle aged Christian, white male? America is a melting pot, a government founded on the precept of tolerance. When did we lose sight of that? When will all of the people with open minds stop being rebellious and realize that they will do far more good by paying attention to the world around them and voicing their opinions to the power hungry middle aged white male that wants to keep his cushy government job? You have to VOTE! You have to take a moment or two to write a letter. Cripes you can write an email these days. The disenfranchised youth needs to look into the future and realize that they control their own destiny. Don’t let your choices be made by people that do not have your interests in mind at all, much less your best interests. You are the group that they are hoping will just go away. They would much rather deal with a welfare mom and gang violence then a group of radical free thinkers. Let’s make them remember that we are out here, we are intelligent, and we are paying attention. I feel like the choices that are made in the next 5 years are going to be the ones that shape the future of this nation. We are on the brink of wonderful things, or disaster. The choice is yours. Make in informed decision and exercise your right to have an opinion while you still can. It doesn’t have to me my opinion, or that or your friends, or your parents. Look at the issues and look inside yourself. Your gut will tell you what you think is right or wrong. Follow your instincts, and save the future.

  • Big Ass Rant

Gay rights: Let me just say that I think it is crazy that the government is defining marriage. Marriage is, at its core, a religious ceremony. Our government is formed on several precepts, one of which being a separation of church and state. So, here’s the important part, if marriage is a religious ceremony then the government should back the fuck off. Who the hell cares if Linda and Sue want to spend the rest of their lives living together in peace and harmony, in their own home, which they are going to do if you like it or not, and if they want to reap the joys of health care and death benefits. Just what kind of heartless bastard do you have to be that you want to deprive these people the same benefits that rapists and murderers are entitled to? They aren’t hurting you, you don’t have to be a part of their lives and they are not eroding “American values”. We will not be more likely to be plunged into the pits of despair and depravity because these people are choosing who they want to live with and love.  I don’t dictate who you can have relationships with.

And speaking of “American Values”. I would love it if people would not try to put thoughts and feelings into the minds and mouths of people that have been dead for several hundred years. Yes, our founding fathers were a bunch of middle ages Christian men. But that doesn’t mean that we have to think and act the same way that they did when they founded this country. Which, if we all remember our history books, was founded on the idea of equal rights for everyone, heedless of race, gender, color, creed, religion and a host of other traits. While some people were not necessarily afforded the same rights in the beginning, as we have become a more progressive, forward thinking nation we have seen the reasoning behind abolishing slavery and equal rights for women. So when people just up and throw their Christian, American values in my face as a reason to discriminate against someone based on their religion or sexual orientation I just want to scream. Next thing you know we will have Christian religious zealots declaring Crusades against people rather then Muslim radicals declaring Jihad. Its nuts. America is a melting pot of race and religion. If you don’t like it, leave. I am tired of listening day in and day out to the diatribe of the religious right wing conservative. Open your eyes shut your mouth and you might see some of god’s love washing over the world. How you can say that you are godly, then treat people terribly because they don’t think the same way you do, doesn’t seem very godly to me. As a matter of fact we call that persecution, and it’s what the Romans did to Jesus, Remember Jesus? Tolerant Jesus, who didn’t persecute anyone but taught them with love and devotion and never forced his view point on anyone, even while knowing that he was going to be sacrificed for the sins of all? Yeah, that Jesus.

All these people want to jump up and down and lose their minds over religious values, and the rights of the public, and how we have to save people from them selves. Damn it, we don’t need a fucking nation wide intervention. If people would be more tolerant of the non radical behavior of those surrounding them, and actually pay attention to what another person is saying then maybe, just maybe, the select, sick few that are looking for attention will get it before they have to do something really terrible to get your attention. The only time we do pay attention to them is after they have done something sick. When that happens please, don’t blame it on something really inane like video game violence, or music. Let’s put the blame where it belongs. When you do something bad, it’s your fault. Your parents raised you the best that they knew how. For better or worse. Once you are an adult it is your life to live. Take responsibility for the choices that you make. If you fuck up you should have to pay the consequences. And pardon me for being heartless, but if you are crazy and you kill people, you should still suffer the death penalty. It’s not like you are suddenly going to get better or something. Given the choice between life in an asylum and death, well really they are the same thing, aren’t they? Why does being nuts when you do something really terrible change the fact that you did something really terrible? I think that lots of people go nuts as a side effect to the terrible action. It shouldn’t dismiss it, or lessen the severity of the crime or the punishment. If it was an offense like, don’t wear red on Tuesday, and you didn’t know there was a rule about red on Tuesday then sure, let it slide. But maiming, killing or mutilating should not be a matter of I didn’t know it wasn’t ok. Even crazy people defend themselves if someone tries to kill them. So there is some sort of basic human instinct to preserve life, and there is one that says that it isn’t ok to take one.

Alright Rant over for now. I’ll have something lighter for next time.

  • Hold on to your hats, another change....

That's all that life is right? A series of changes. Some you make and some are made for you. The ones that you make yourself are always easier to cope with. Even if you are making a decision on the fly, at least you made it. Nothing makes me crazier then changes at work. I think that everyone feels the same way. This is your liveilyhood, this is the thing that earns you money so that you can actually live the rest of your life. Pay for the things that you actually enjoy doing. if you are lucky then you enjoy your work as well as all that stuff that you do when youa re not there. And for the most part I enjoy my job. What I don't enjoy is when the "powers that be" decide that they are going to undertake a major restructuring, without a plan. Hell without half a plan. At this point I would settle for a quarter to an eighth of a plan. No one in charge really knows whats going on, so no one can tell us what's going on so the rumors are flying, and that boys and girls is how you get disgruntled empolyees. At this point I am content to wait out the changes and see what kind of ground is left to claim in the aftermath. Batten down the hatches boys we are in for a rough ride.

  • Anniversary: The Sequel

So, I got my final Anniversary gift and it is….Drumroll please….I beautiful pink Motorola Earpiece that goes right along with my new pink Slvr phone! YAY! My phone has a million features and a thousand options. I can take pictures and video and I can join the masses that can IM from their phone with reliability. It has I-tunes and really cool headphones. One of the cool things is that my earpiece and my phone use the same charger. It is beautiful and I LOVE it. Look for over the top emo pics of me to follow. J

This afternoon Donald called me, he was at Wal-Mart and he said he was just calling me from his new black Slvr phone. Yay us! Our phones can have phone sex and have really stylish pink and black babies. Hmm…. Maybe I should take a pic of my phone and his phone making out. I know now I am being silly but it has been a wonderful week and I am having a really great day.

We are going to have Beth over tomorrow to build her dollhouse with D and I would think to start painting and furnishing it, then we are going to hang out and see where the weekend takes us. Kind of a nice feeling. Tonight I am off to the mall to look for shoes and pants for SuperShow and to maybe catch a movie with my man! I think we will go and see the Break Up. I adore Vince Vaughn. So I am outta here. How lucky are you guys I posted 2 days in a row, is it a fluke or is it a trend? We shall see.

About Me

  • Born in California, grew up all over the country including Minnasota, Florida, and finally Oklahoma. Living in the wrong century and not in a wealthy family. Such is my luck. Happily married with 2 wonderful step kids, a boy and a girl. Who never cease to amaze me and make me smile. My husband is a wonderful man that does a million little things every day that remind me of why I married him. I am blessed with a huge circle of friends in the form of a Renaissance performance group by the name of Red Gryphon Productions. How many people do you know who have a circle of friends that's got over 30 people in it?
