Craziness!

Not only have I been neglecting Xanga, I've also been neglecting MySpace.  Wow, I'm neglectful.  I'll refuse to neglect my baby when he comes though.  Time for updates:

My baby boy is due November 7th.  It seems like it's going so fast and not fast enough all at the same time if that is even possible.  I've talked to so many other pregnant women lately that are having the time of their lives and have such an easy pregnancy.  Even a cousin of mine who is on her 3rd pregnancy and was at the same zoo as I was in Colorado and she had NO problem going up the hills and she was playing with her children, etc.  Here I was, going up the hill, need to rest, go up the hill, need to rest.  I was so tired and worn out.  I'm miserable most days.  My ankles started swelling up much sooner than they were supposed to (according to other parents).  My back hurts almost all the time whether I'm standing, walking, sitting, or laying down.  I have heart burn quite a bit, which I've never had a day in my life until now.  I get congested and stuffy quite a bit these days and have read that it is quite normal in many pregnancies.  I have started getting Braxton Hicks contractions where a part of my belly will contract for a few seconds then stop and then another part will.  It's a strange feeling.  Even stranger is when my baby gets the hiccups.  I normally know when he's kicking because he'll kick in the lower part of my belly.  Then all of a sudden I'll get a big bump at the top of my belly so being inquisitive I started reading up.  I found out it is hiccups becuase his lungs are developing.

We've started taking Prepared Childbirth Classes.  It's not really a Lamaze class because they teach you all different kinds of methods.  They've even talked about pain relief, etc.  I want to have this baby as naturally as I can and I even have my eye on the whirlpool room at the hospital I'm going to deliver at.

In case you aren't aware, I also got engaged recently.  Justin asked me to marry him at his Tae Kwon Do Tournament in Lincoln in front of about 500 people.  That was on June 23rd.  We haven't set a definite date yet but are looking towards late August next year.  I thought about Septermber 13th but a cousin of mine was married on that date and I should leave it for her to consider special.  Maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

We are also looking to buy a house.  We signed the purchase agreement the other day and have our home inspection walk through today at 5:15pm.  Then there is the matter of spending much more money than we have and paying on it for a long long time.  I guess that's part of growing up, huh?  I'm really excited about the house and it's even across the street from an elementary school and next door to a Presbyterian church and a block away from a Methodist church.  My being Methodist sees this as an advantage even though I don't go to church much right now.  This would give me fewer excuses to attend.  It is a 5 bedroom 4 bathroom house.  Upstairs is an "InLaw Suite" which is currently rented out and that will be about half of our rent for a while, which will be a nice break for us.  The suite has two of the bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living room.  Then the main floor has the other three bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, and living room.  The basement has another bathroom, a family room, and a wetbar area.  It also has a nice tiled room that Justin sees putting a pool table in and i see as a great craft room/play room for the little guy.  I guess we'll find out who wins this one.

That's all for now because I have to actually get out of my pajamas now, shower, and go to work.  Work, it would be so nice to be away from that for a while.  Soon I'll have at least 6 weeks off.  I want more!

Long Time No Blog

Ok, so here's the scoop.  It has been a long time since I've blogged.  I've been busy at work and then a friend talked me into getting a myspace page.  I did that and I've been going on there so much that I almost forgot about Xanga.  I know, that's a crime to even think about!

New York was an awesome experience.  We were there for a week and saw just about everything on our list in the first 2 to 3 days.  Then we just hung out and enjoyed it all.  We did so much walking all over that city in 125 heat index.  The actual temp was 105 most of the time we were there in August but they said the heat index was about 20 degrees higher.  The apartment we stayed in couldn't use his air conditioner very often because the whole city was under energy conservation because large parts had brown outs.  The area of Queens we stayed in was being run by a huge generator parked on a corner about two blocks away.  Everytime we walked by we said "keep working generator" or something like that.  I got to see the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Ground Zero, a Broadway show (Wicked), had my picture taken with some of New Yorks finest (firemen and police officers), rode on the subway, watched 2 Dave Matthews Band concerts, and so much more!  We ate at some incredible restaurants, some with famous chefs working in the kitchen.  My feet hurt after about a day of walking around.  I thought I walked a lot at work but apparantly I don't.  At least I don't walk miles and miles in the scorching heat.

Skipping ahead to now.  We didn't have a white Christmas but we did have a white New Years.  So white, in fact, that 10 people canceled out on our NYE plans because it was too icy.  The city of Omaha even post poned the NYE fireworks until the following night.  You may ask who it was I spend NYE with.  Well, it was my boyfriend.  Yes, I have a boyfriend.  His name is Justin and he's great!  He treats me like I deserve to be treated.  He's so sweet to me.  I keep telling him if he's not careful I'm going to get used to all the things he does for me.  He just tells me to get used to it.  So far the only bad thing is that he lives in Lincoln and I live in Omaha.  It's only 40 miles away so it's not like it's super long distance or anything but it makes it hard to see him when I want to.

Ok, that was my 10 minute "catch up."  I could probably write you an entire novel on everything that's happened even since I went to New York but I have to be back at work in 10 hours and I need sleep.

New York, Here I Come

New York, Here I Come

I leave for New York tomorrow.  It's my first time going there but I've wanted to go at least since I was a junior in high school, so long ago.  I've fully prepared myself by re-watching every Sex and the City episode I own.  I've also attempted to get some "New York" clothing.  Everything I own is too hick-ish for New York being from Nebraska and all.  I don't think I succeeded in that but I'll probably mix and match to make up some cute outfits.  I've also made a list of all the places I want to see while there, however I think my list is longer than the time I will have.  My friend Jenny and I are going to see two Dave Matthews Band concerts and the rest of our five days in NY will be sightseeing.  Luckily we both want to see the same type of things.

The apartment we will be staying in does not have airconditioning and it has been HOT lately.  In fact, they just got over having four days of brownouts in that area.  I'll have to stay hydrated!

The other day I was watching tv while my car was being worked on and I saw a line of news going across the bottom of the screen.  It was talking about how an airplane couldn't get it's nose gear down so it had to make an emergency crash landing.  That's really comforting to hear about just days before you fly out of the same airport.

On a different note, I can't believe my old college town is burning up.  Chadron, NE is having wild fires caused by lightning and they've evacuated a large portion of the town.  My dad said he was watching the news and they showed a picture of "C" Hill.  This is a big hill with a concrete C on the side of it near the top.  My first day as a freshman at CSC they had all of us climb up to the C as an initiation of sorts.  I also used to climb up and sit on the C everytime I was homesick or sad about something or so mad I didn't want to talk to anybody.  You could see all the way across Chadron and see all the other beautiful scenery around.  It was very calming and relaxing.  Apparantly now the C is white and the rest of the green grassy hill is charred black from burning up.  Keep in mind, this hill is immediately behind the school's football field and there are a lot of buildings very close.

My hopes and prayers are out there for everyone still living in Chadron.  Especially Anna's family as they treated me like one of thier own when I met them.

My parents and brother came to Omaha today to spend the holiday with me when I got off work. We stood on the top level of Harrah's parking garage and watched the fireworks. They were very impressive. I only wish I would have brought my camera although there was too much light. It was pretty cool how many boats get lined up in the river. There were 34 boats just onour end of the river and I couldn't see far enough to count those further upstream.

First Time Blogging

I have never blogged before.  I have a journal I write in daily but I suppose I'm the only one who's going to be reading that.  A friend who also has a Xanga blog gave me the idea to create such a thing.  We'll see how it works.  I am incredibly busy in my line of work just as I'm sure everyone else is.  My blog may not be updated very often but I'll do my best.

By the way, a profile picture will be coming.
