The semester is about halfway done. I'll admit life as a fish is tough and takes a lot of determination and a thick skin. One second you're on top of the world and the next you in hell. I'm definately learning a lot. Sometimes I miss my old self, the romantic part that liked to explore and swordfight, that part doesn't ever really see the light of day around here because it would be misunderstood and scorned.

Despite the ups and downs I'm glad I did it. It's kinda like my Eagle Scout Project, if I had fully understood what I was getting myself into I probably would have wimped out, but once I was in I couldn't imagine myself doing anything else.

I'm going home this weekend which will be fun.

later

k

Thursday, August 02, 2007

Wow it’s been awhile since I posted last……

I leave in about 2 weeks for A&M……….

I’m going to try to keep xanga up-to-date while I’m there.

To help spur me to do this I think it's time to change my color scheme.

Friday, April 27, 2007

Alright alright......This is not a full post cause I don't have time. I'm leaving for class and thence I'm going to Houston. It's going to be so much fun.......hmmm....I could xanga it I suppose when I get back.....or not. Also I was thinking about writing of an epoch story that happend to me and Evan at his last paintball party. That would be fun.

Anywayz I got to run...or drive (since that is more effeicent)

K

Sunday, April 01, 2007

So here is a little thing I saw on a friend’s xanga and thought it looked good.

Put your iPod on shuffle and let it play! Every song that plays, put the song next to each section.

[OPENING CREDITS]: Brave by (Nichole Nordeman) Actually this is pretty appropriate for opening credits.

[WAKING UP]: Gypsy Rover (The Countdown Singers) Hmmmm….not quite energetic enough.

[FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL]: She moved through the Fair (Celtic Woman) Yeah I can see how this might work…I guess if you had a crush on someone at school. =p Either way I love this song.

[FALLING IN LOVE]: The Call to Dance (Leahy) At first you might think this one wouldn’t fit. But the driving beat sounds kinda like a heart. And I guess you could make an analogy between a dance and falling in love.

[FIGHT SONG]: Walking in the Air (Celtic Woman) Oh no! This does not fit at all!!!! This is a song fit only for a Peter Pan movie not a fight song.

[BREAKING UP]: Cape Breton Medley (Leahy) Way too lighthearted for a breakup unless of course you wanted to breakup.

[PROM]: Tommy's Tarbukas (The Road North) Hmmm… This doesn’t really fit either.

[LIFE]: Mood Ring (Reliant K) Hahahahaha!!!!! Perfect!

[MENTAL BREAKDOWN]: The King of Love My Shepard is (Song of the Piper) Well if you’re going through a mental breakdown this would be a good song to listen to.

[DRIVING]: The Butterfly (Celtic Woman) Some people probably wouldn’t consider this to be Driving music but it works for me.

[FLASHBACK]: To Know You (Nichole Nordeman) Hmmm….not really sure about this one. I guess maybe.

[WEDDING]: Legacy (Nichole Nordeman) I guess it could be appropriate since you want to leave a legacy for the inevitable children.

[BIRTH OF CHILD]: Flight to the Ford (LoTR) From the name you wouldn’t guess it but the music does seem to fit. (Okay the first and last parts fit, the middle is to scary).

[FINAL BATTLE]: Be Thou My Vision (4Him) Yep. That works.

[DEATH SCENE]: Evenstar (Celtic Circles) This works really well as a death scene theme. It’s slow and plaintive with just that little twinge of hope buried somewhere in the melody.

[FUNERAL SONG]: Harry’s Game (Celtic Woman) This works too though I can think of some that would have been better.

[END CREDITS]: May it Be (LoTR) Oh Yeah! It doesn’t need any explaining.

The questionnaire thing

Alright so I have to do this ethnography thingy for my English 131 class. Basically you have to choose a group you’re not a part of and study it. Pretty simple right. Anyway…….I chose to study Women Shoppers, mainly cause I might be able to recycle an old blog post. I’ve been conducting research mainly by observation at Wal-Mart, because, as you know, I hate to go to the Mall with out a guide. I was really hoping that security would get suspicious of a guy just continually walking around the store and randomly scribbling in a notebook, and come talk to me. That would have made a great introduction paragraph. But it hasn’t happened yet. Maybe I need a bigger notebook……..shaped like a bomb or something.

So here is my little questionnaire thing. Fill it out (if you’re a girl….and I’ll know if you’re not) and I promise to post something about our trip to Austin as a reward.

1. Male/Female? (If you’re a male stop here)

2. Do you shop?

3. How much? (2-3 times a week, everyday? Etc…)

4. Where do you shop most often?

5. Is there a strategy behind the insanity? ( in other words, do you have a regular system you follow i.e…always buying the non-food first)

6. Do you enjoy shopping?

7. What is your favorite part of shopping (The hunt? The buying? The taking forever? Etc…)

8. What is your least favorite part?

9. When you do shop about how many items do you buy?

10. If you could buy everything over the internet would you never go out to shop?

11. Do you normally shop alone or with someone?

12. What is the most common emotion you feel while shopping? (Euphoria, determination, conquer mentality, tired, happy, random etc……)

These are all the questions I can think of to ask right now. If you think of some more just add them on. Now I have to actually get back to the non-fun school subjects.

P.S. And Thank You!!!!

Wednesday, March 14, 2007

Well I'm off again, this time to Austin. I plan on taking some pictures so maybe I'll post those.....maybe. I'll be on the lookout for any xanga worthy material. With Evan and me spending the morning at the Capitol I'm sure I'll probably find some.

I need the help of all you women shoppers out there (since I know there are simply a ton who read this....*sarcastic voice*). I'm going to post a little question thingy about shopping and I need ya'll to answer it in the comment box. This is for English so I'm not just wasting your time without reason. Thank you!

Untill whenever....

Another one of my favorites.

Do Not Disturb the Waters

“Do not disturb the waters.”
The surface of the pond was placid, as Indy, our dog, casually meandered down to the bank for a drink. Little did he suspect the menace that lurked below, the nameless fear which haunted those waters. Well actually not nameless.

Across the pond a ripple moved. Closer and closer it came. Indy paused in his drinking to look around like an unsuspecting wilda beast right before the crocodile attacks. The sleepless malice moved into position. A close observer could have marked a dark shadow just beneath the surface of the pond about ten feet from the very thirsty Indy. Shashplaash! The water erupted as the creature, with lighting speed, struck our shocked pet. Snarling, growling, barking and hissing, emanated from the tumbling mass of fur and fangs.
The two animals broke apart, and the creature from the murky brown water leapt dramatically back into its sheltering depths. The bleeding Indy eyed the water confusedly. What the heck was that thing that had attacked him so fiercely for no obvious reason.

Apparently parched by the conflict, Indy cautiously crept back down to the waters edge and began to sip warily. From ambush behind a nearby cattail the crazed creature sprang again from the water like Chuck Norris in some movie I can’t remember the name of. After a launching a brief barking barrage, Indy decided to quench his thirst elsewhere.

What animal could be so fierce? Could it be an alligator, whose tactics it imitated, or maybe a badger, whose bad temper it evidenced. No! The animal that had attacked our unoffending pet, was no more than a large water rat. A Nutria to be exact.

The moral of this story is, if any of you ever come to my house,: “Do not disturb the waters!”

My Tight Story (Read at your own risk)

Tight Story

So here it is, the long awaited tale of the first, and last time I ever wore tights.

This story is true, but the names have been changed to protect the innocent.

It was the end of spring, (I think), and Josh and I were invited to attend a Medieval Renaissance Festival ( don’t worry it was a family- friendly one). The night before, the friend we were going with called me up and asked if we wanted to go in costume. The theme of the Festival was the Cavalier period. Since I didn’t have a costume for that era I said no. Well, we showed up at their house the next day in blue jeans and t-shirts and our friend came out dressed as one of Robin Hood’s merry men. I say, “Hey, I thought we weren’t going to dress up.” He said, “Well, my mom thinks we should.” So there we were with 45 minutes till we needed to leave, scrambling to create, from scratch, two costumes.

Now my friend's mom is very creative and resourceful. She came in and handed me a pair of black tights. That’s about the time when I really began to feel worried. The feeling of dread only increased as I put them on. Not only were they tight, but they were also a little short. My white socks shone out like two 5 million watt spotlights. Despairingly, I attempted to tie the bottom of the tights down with my shoelaces so people would not be blinded. Upon going back inside, a small glimmer of hope appeared as my friend's mom handed me a khaki jumper that I could wear over my shirt, and more importantly, my tights.

Now don’t laugh, this was a valid addition to the outfit and would have made it more authentic, not to mention more comfortable. The exact name of the medieval piece of clothing it mimicked escapes me.

I told my friend’s mom that it needed to be cut off at about knee level and she went to get the scissors. Like I said, this addition had produced a sigh of relief from me. That relief was literally cut short when she returned with the modified jumper. Instead of reaching to the knee, it had been cut off too high and was only half the length I had hoped. Aahhh! You, my readers, cannot imagine the internal agony I endured. To top everything off, I was brought the neck of an extremely long turtle neck dress from my friend's grandmother. This was promptly placed on my head.

The mental picture is disturbing, if you’re brave enough to visualize it.

We arrived at the Festival and there were all kinds of people there in a variety of costumes. This did not comfort me, however, because none of the costumes involved tights! Despite this fact, I could not help enjoying myself. There were lots of swords and bows to study and knives to throw. (In fact, I think it was there I realized one of the secrets to good bow making). Gradually, in spite of my tight attire, I began to feel more at ease.

At last it was time for the parade to the jousting grounds. I, along with the other humble peasants, lined the road. As the “Parade” advanced, I saw the king and queen. I also noticed that no one was bowing. How dare they disrespect their benevolent monarchs in such a manner! Well not me, I was a true king’s man. I waited until their Majesties were directly opposite me. Then caught up in the moment, I shouted, " God save the King and Queen", and bowed, as gracefully as I could manage. I was rewarded with condescending nods and waves from their Gracious Majesties. For the rest of the time, I was perfectly happy. I, the humble peasant, had received the acknowledgement of nobility.

So finally I had overcome my fear of what people might think of me. However, never again will I wear tights. Never, never, never!!!

The End

Tuesday, February 27, 2007

So Cassi aka Britt tagged me to tell the world six weird things about myself. So everyone can just blame her for what follows.

Weirdness #1. I’m collecting lullabies.

Weirdness #2. I like to spend time in an alternate reality created by my Sword Brother where I am an elf.

Weirdness #3. I’m obsessed with drawing five pedaled white flowers.

Weirdness #4. I had a dream about a white swan with a blue eye painted on its neck.

Weirdness #5. I dreamed I killed a man once. (Don’t worry he was a bad guy)

Weirdness #6. I once wore women’s tights that were to short for me, and really tight, out in public. ( I bear no responsibility for the image that just created in your minds. Blame Britt.)

I should post that story again.
