| Okay, so, quick changes. But this layout...it's basically an amalgam of EVERYTHING I love. Well, not everything. But it's Tinkerbell and Rent, which is a good start. If only the damn server could connect so I could make some minor adjustments...like substitute my name for the USERNAME in the coding. Hm..maybe tomorrow? Speaking of Tinkerbell, this year for homecoming (which we don't have until November, don't ask why) my class theme is Peter Pan (woohoo!). The theme for the school is Disney, which is awesome, and I hope no one else is Aladdin or The Little Mermaid, because then I won't feel bad for getting Peter Pan. Nonetheless, I love Peter Pan a lot, and I'm definitely going all out for Tinkerbell. I'm going to buy those huge fuzzy balls and tap them somehow to my shoe, and I've got a green dress that I might tape some green paper too. On the otherhand, I have a Tinkerbell shirt, but that's pink. Not very in character. Okay, enough rant (rent) time. I'm now going to study...starting...NOW! Hehe. | | |

| 06/29/06 Istanbul, Turkey Music from the street
So, I had this dream last night that I remember vivedly. That doesn't happen often, so I though I'd share it with you. Caution: it's very weird, so read at your own sanity.
It starts off with me, my mom and my dad walking into a movie theatre. It's already dark, but I see Rebecca sitting in the back row. We say "hi" as my parents move to sit in the right side of rows in the theatre.
I can't sit next to Becca because her boyfriend (who does not exist in real life) is with her, so instead I sit in the row infront of her. Turns out I'm next to Jake Gyllenhaal.
More people start filing in. Specifically Seth Green, who sits in front of me to the right, and Josh, who sits in front of me to the left.
I ask all the people around me about the movie, and am told is has some weird name like "Shining Children" and is absolutely terrifying. This, of course, is my signal to freak out.
During this freak out though, I manage to lean forward and say to Seth "I just watched my first episode of 'Greg the Bunny'" (which in fact, is true) but instead I tell this to Josh who answers with some random remark.
Focusing on freaking out, I grip my seat really tightly while the movie starts. The first few scenes are very dark and eerie, and I can tell Jake (why not be on a first name basis?) is getting a bit antsy too.
All of the sudden there's a huge tan divider wall (like the ones they use in gym) separating my group from the rest of the theatre. I close my eyes, but I can still kind of see the movie.
By this time, Jake is sitting on my lap. What's weird about this is that while I was dreaming it, I could practically feel the pressure on the lap..then again, what's not weird about this?
Anyway, the wall dissappears and I can see the movie. It turned out not to be scary, just weird and short. It ends on a bright note, and I leave the theatre only to discover I'm really at Westland Middle School.
My sister and a friend (who does not exist) walk out, apparently just out of performing a play, supposedly the movie I just saw.
Emily says that there's only half an hour before her next performance, so my first meal back home will either have to be rushed or cancelled.
My one question with this dream is...do I have star envy?

| Okay, so, here's the plan. Since I never feel like writing about three week trips after they happen, I've decided to keep something of a diary of my time in the Greece/Istanbul/England area which means that this has all previously been written down in a journal. That's right, you are reading word for word what Lena Barkin wrote on June 19th in a Grecian hotel.
So,what have I done so far? On Friday night I decidednot to go to sleep because a) I probably would not have been able to anyway and b) I wanted to sen out my Netflix. So I watched "Saved by the Bell" and "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants".
Sorry, I'm getting distracted by Fear Factor. Ugh. Let's just say it has something to do with rats. *shudders*. Okay, going to my trusty iPod. Ooh, Ramones.
Okay,so, on Friday night I did not sleep, and we left for the airport at around 4. My mom,dad and I were on frequent flier (flier or flyer?) miles (Emily was not and left ealier that night) so we had to take all sorts of connections.
First, we flew to Boston, and I literally slept the whole damn way. The second one to London was six hours. I was pretty out of it the whole way, because I wasn't feeling too sharp. As my dad put it, if I wasn't sleeping, I was puking. So that happened around four times. When we got into London, it was around 8:55 P.M. (I think). We had to wait 24 hours for the next flight, so we went to this great airport hotel. I usually don't think too highly of airport hotels (I don't know why, I just get this mental image of a crappy, roach-infested motel), but the bed made it awesome. Best sleep I've had in a really, really long time. And the comforter was all heavy and warm and soft. :). Okay, anyway, we (ooh, Bye Bye Birdie) took the tube into town and then hopped onto the original London tour. (My dad is mad at me because it is late and I'm typing this in a hotel in Crete present day. So I'm only going to recount my first entry, but it's quite long so it might hold you over.) We basically hit all the buildings and museums by sight. We actually saw a part of the changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace through the gates.
Hehe, Fear Factor. Driving cars into pools...when will you ever cease to amaze me at how stupid you are?
After the tour, we went to this fish and chip restaurant for lunch (I had a crossoint for breakfast, yum!) but I was already feeling pretty sick so I wasn't able to fully appreciate the culinary experience. ;).
We went back to the hotel at around four (even though ou flight was at eight) because I was getting overheated. My dad bought me a water bottle (a huge one) adn made me drink it. In between sips of water (which felt funny in my throat) I fell asleep. It was really weird. My head and throat really hurt, my face was burning and I was in a state of half-conciousness the whole time.
Sorry for the delay, just changed into my pyjamas, and it was a whole big deal because I had to get into my parents room, abut they were on the balcony, etc.
The plane trip from London to Athens (three hours) was not so bad, also because I was asleep most of the time. I woke up in the last fifteen minutes or so. (Actually I have a really embarrassing story about my experience at the London airport....but I'll save that for later.)
We took a cab from the airport to our hotel (half an hour), and by that time it was four o'clock Athens time. So basically the three of us went up to my parents room and crashed.
I missed breakfast this morning, but when I got up, my mom tole me we were going to the Acropolis. Or as she told me when my parent were waking me up, "Acropolis Now". Hahahaha, they're so clever.
It's cool, because you can see the Acropolis from the street outside our hotel. And if you weren't aware, it's really high up.
So we spent a couple of hours there, it's very beautiful but I don't think I could describe it (leave the poets to that), and then we came back down to have lunch and go to bed. Oh, yeah, forgot about the May's, Sorry!
(I think by this time I was tired and my grammer sucks, excuse it and any typos I might have made typing this up.)
They've been our traveling buddies ever since I can remember. Pat and Susan are the parents, Caitlin is Emily's age, Zoe is my age and Cody is a year younger than I am. So we met up with them this morning.
After lunch, we went shopping and split into varoius groups, but I didn't find anything. Back at the hotel, I went to my respective room with Zoe and Cody for a nap. (Zoe and Cody on one bed, me in another.) When I woke up, it was time for dinner (I missed watching the sun set on the Acropolis from the roof) where I had wine flavored meatballs. :). So basdically my dy. Not word for word (because that would be boring) but event by event. Hopefully not boring and you care...but probably not.
That's all, I'll fix the signature later but type it now...
Love always, Lena | | |
| So..um, there's a new slideshow at the bottom. Hope you like it....
And uh, LJ! Yes, LJ, spending lots of time on LJ...longer entries, don't know why. It might be better because now I can put my stories on there. Doesn't make much difference now though since I'm leaving tomorrow...oh, well. Enjoy the pictures. I'd put more up, but they're also on my Myspace, and I'm a bit more conservative there. | | |
