Day 13 - 15 @ SF.

I start feeling confused for how long I have been here. Seems that I have been here for so long but I don feel I belong to here (Actually I am not). Maybe I should say, I still not adapt the life here?Hard to communicate, hard to find friends, hard to find someone understand me, hard to find?(It you.)

Anyway, life must go on. I went to one of the must-go places in US ?the Stanford University. The campus was so grand and spacious, mixed with harmony and solemn. Together with Angel, Pui Yan(Angel sister), another Kenneth (The nice driver) and Cinnie, the campus tour became much more interesting. We have visited the renowned Hoover Tower and knew a little bit of him and his wife. Though only spent a short period of time there, it enough for me to feel something special in my mind. (I don know how to express, just something like very comfortable and love this historical area, an awesome place to study.) I must visit here again before I return to HK.

The Stanford shopping arcade is somewhere like Times Square or Landmark in Central. All the US deluxe brands are located in this mall and who are the shopaholics must be crazy to this mall. Most of the clothing are relatively cheaper than HK and I am just looking for the crazy sale here. Cool!

We had dinner with Angel dad in a Chinese restaurant, after walking for nearly half day. It the first Chinese meal I had and I ate plenty of food and felt so full for the dinner. 6 plates + 1 soup, it great, right? The two sisters made jokes on my First Name with different postures. Scissors + Sheep would be happy if others would remember me in this simple way~ Anyway, it another nice day!

The other two days I was already not too clear for what I have done. Just went to have city tour with Fantastic 4 + Cinnie. I was named as Big Brother, as I was the only boy in this group. Cinnie, was the Big Sister/Model, the other four, I named them as Fantastic 4!! Don you recognize I like to make names for others?

We went to North Beach, the financial district in SF, and walked pass the tall buildings and fooling around. Then headed to the coast, arrived the Embarcadero Square and went straight to the Washington Square and Lombard Street, to have a look of the famous curvy street in SF. That street was so short but had nine curves in total. Many drivers would come here to test their techniques, just like <<Initial D>>.

Day 12 @ SF.

This morning woke up quite early and back to SFSU to complete the check-in procedure at around 10am. Last night was too tired due to the International Night and the Party Night in one pub closed to Montgomery Street @ Downtown. After the check-in, I went to the Fantastic 4 home for lunch. They did really cook quite well and made me miss my mum cooking.

Later, we tried to explore another supermarket closed to Parkmerced. It was located just opposite to their home but needed to walk for a long distance without cars. Shopping for nearly 2 hours, they have bought sufficient food for 2 weeks and then I rushed home to join my host to watch Baseball Live @ AT&T Park!!!!

The AT&T Park was such a grand stadium which was facing the San Francisco Bay. The 3-sided Stadium had a large capacity, around 45000. My host told me I must have to try some food; one of them was the Garlic Fries. The highly-recommended potato food was terrific and delicious. I had the American hotdog also. I was just wondering, I should eat more burgers + fries + hotdogs if I want to get fat, right?

The match was San Francisco vs Milwaukee. I was so curious for the number ?56?shown on the walls in the stadium. Don told me that it the record of the SF player, Barry Bonds, who made 756 Home Run already and it the new record. I was expecting to see him hit a HR. When Bonds stepped on the field, all the audience shouted and screamed!!! He the hero of SF. Sometimes the audience would use the Trumpet to play o do mi so~~ mi so~~?to make fun!! All the audience would laugh together. Finally, Bonds hit the HR and we all stood up to give him a big applause and the match was ended 17-9 (if I didn make mistakes for the score) won by SF. Nice day and full of fun!

Day 11 @ SF.

Today it the 4th day of Orientation in SFSU. Well, the orientation week, indeed it quite boring, except the session of Sex and the City and Applying the Driving License. I realized the European students were used to speak out and speak loud, with full of confidence, maybe it due to English is their first language. But anyway, it still a good chance for me to learn from them.

After a few days of Orientation, I started get used to communicating with those foreign students. Their accent and pace were really difficult to listen and hard to follow. It not easy to talk with them and they would lose interest quickly to talk to us, as we didn understand what they were talking about.

Fortunately, I still made some friends right here and one of the funny guy must be Ryan. He is Chinese but has been studying in Netherland for several years. He does not only speak fluent Mandarin but also fluent English and presentable. With his help, I could meet some foreign guys including Julien from France, and from Germany, UK etc.

Asian students acted as usual, still a little bit quiet and passive, based on my observation. But according to what Robert said, the guy from Amsterdam who is majoring in Law, admired that Asian students were quiet but modest, smart in some areas that foreign students could not be compared. To sum up what I have experienced in this Orientation Week, it was boring but necessary to get along with the new atmosphere.

There was an International Night, with the Party Night followed to be the remarkable highlight of the Orientation Week. Just wanted to do sth great and special in SFSU, I signed up to take part in it and had my 1st performance on stage. Unfortunately, no one could pair up with me to have ensemble, therefore I had to have solo without pianoigh?/span>

Robert was the other J-1 Exchange student who took part in it. He was so handsome and skillful in piano. We had some conversations before the great function on Music and characters of different nationality, not too in-depth, but stimulate me to generate some thoughts.

The show was held in McKenna Theatre, should be the largest theatre in SFSU. The theatre was nice and gave me the feeling just like having performance in City Hall in Central. This was the first time to have solo again since few years before, inevitably, felt very nervous before the performance, though the piece of music I chose to play only lasted for few minutes. The Americans used to say things in a humorous way, when the MC was introducing me; she said something like he would be the star in SFSU etc. In my opinion, an interesting introduction would catch the audience attention to keep listening. It also the art of how to presenting something, someone effectively to others. Just like Marketing, isn it?

Thx Cinnie, Gloria, Rosanna, Kate, Carie, Karen, Ivy, Kei, Ryan to be my Professional Fans to support me!!! So grand!!!! Though the performance was not good and some serious mistakes, I still enjoyed a lot and I am sure I must take chance to perform again here if possible. When I was in backstage, some unknown students even shouted my name Kenneth and walked to me to have Give Me 5 and said well done! It really a nice experience. I started enjoying the life in SFSU and looking forward to having fun in study, travel, music, making friends here, San Francisco.

Day 6 - 13 @ SF.

This is the Orientation Week of SFSU. Knew a number of exchange students mainly from Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea, Germany, France and Holland. How come there are so many German and Dutch ? Most of them are nice and talkative and always make jokes.

The orientation week, somehow, was quite boring, as what we needed to do was only sitting right in the hall and listened to something that I have completed already. Have a campus tour in SFSU and it was not as big as I imagined.

In this week I have visited quite a lot of places, including Sausalito, Mt. Tamapais, UC Davis, ate Japanese buffet, watched baseball, International Night performance etc. Fantastic !!!

Day 4 - 5 @ SF.

Haha ~~ Not too remember what I have done already. But should be not too important as I didnt take any photos on these two days.

P.S Later the photos will mainly post in facebook as much more convenient. Anyone who is interested can add me in facebook la~ CY Kenneth.
