    Stephenie Meyer Read-a-likes

In late 2006 I picked up the book Twilight [2005] by Stephenie Meyer on the recommendation of a friend, who has never steered me wrong. I became sucked into the world of Bella Swan, a girl who moves to a small town and finds her world and life turned upside down after meeting Edward Cullen.
Since then I have read the next two books, New Moon [2006] and Eclipse [2007], in what is now called the Twilight Saga. I've also listened to Twilight and New Moon on audiobook and have begun Eclipse. [Note: The audio books are good but not great. I would recommend borrowing them from a library.] Having done all that and the next book still several months out I asked myself what do I read until the next book, Breaking Dawn, comes out in August 2008? And from the bit that I have surfed the internet many people are waiting as well.

Fear not fellow Stephenie Meyer Fans! For I come to you with recommendations to fill your empty hours until Breaking Dawn's release.

City of Bones by Cassandra Clare- A captivating fantasy novel very similar to Twilight. Clary Fray is a young teen who lives with her over protective mother in New York City. A chance encounter in a club one night leads her into the world of the Shadowhunters which draws her into a world of danger and secrets.
Next Book: City of Ashes out now (Yet To Read).

Blue Bloods and Masquerade: a Blue Bloods novel by Melissa De la Cruz- [Blue Bloods]Schuyler Van Allen is the only daughter of a once prominent New York who attends Duchesne, where the elite send their children. She is cared for by her grandmother as her father is dead and her mother lies in a coma. After the mysterious death of a classmate Schuyler is invited to join a prominent New York Socialite Organzation where upon she discovers that all the members of it are reborn vampires. The mystery surrounding the strange events deepens as attacks continue and Schuyler hunts for the truth.
[Masquerade] Schuyler travels to Venice in search of her grandfather, whose help she needs in fighting the silver bloods that have reappeared. Upon her return to New York she begins to suffer from her unique blood type, complicating her training. Meanwhile at Duchesne a new student has arrived who draws the suspicion of Schuyler and her friends. Things are even more complicated by Charles Force's legal actions. Schuyler most depend on her friends and herself to fend off the silver bloods and get to the bottom of the mystery of who is helping them.
    Revelations due out Fall 2008.

    ~EDIT~

Breaking Dawn has finally been released! Yay! I recieved my copy at 12:05 am on August 2nd, 2008. It took me about 12 hours to read, due to some minor distractions like my cat. So now with further ado my review.

Breaking Dawn Review (Spoiler Free!! ^_^)

In the final installment of the Twilight Saga, from Bella's point of view, we begin with our favorite mortal anxious about her upcoming wedding. From there it becomes a roller coaster of pure happiness and tense action. The beginning is a bit slow but it picks up quickly coming to a stunning conclusion. [I'll put out a full review later, once more people have had a chance to read it.]
I had very high expectations for the book and Stephenie met and surpassed them. Breaking Dawn is a very fitting end to the story from Bella's perspective. I can't wait to see what else she will bring us from the Twilight Saga as well as other stories.

    Death Note Manga and Movie

    Death Note Vols. 1-12
Light Yagami comes into possession of a Death Note, dropped by a bored Shinigami [god of death]. Using the notebook he begins to kill off criminals with the goal of creating a utopian society. As the police take notice they begin to pursue Kira [who is Light] getting help from the mysterious L in a quest to stop Kira.

I enjoyed reading the series and often found myself at the edge of my seat from all the twists and turns. The series is very dialogue heavy which tends to be a litt overwhelming at times. The art is excellent and very detailed. The ending had me a little disappointed at first but in retrospect it was really the only way. Overall a good read.

    Recommend: Ages 16+
    Warnings: Violence, Death, Mature Themes

    Death Note Movie [Part One]
I got a chance to see the Death Note movie Part One in theatres. I was a little skeptical since it is a live-action/ dub but I am reallyimpressed. They adapted the story into two movies and make minor changes to the story line. The actors and dubbers were all amazing. If you are a fan of Death Note you should defitnely try and get a copy of the movie. If you're a newcomer to the series you should go and check it out.

    Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles

    Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicles Vol. 1

Tsubasa is the story of Syaoran(Sakura's Friend), Sakura (princess of Clow Coutry), Kurogane (a ninja), Fay D. Flourite, Mokona, and Yuko Ichihara. The group is all seeking different goals and the story largely focuses on Syaoran and Sakura, who has lost part of her soul.

The story begins with Syaoran seeking to help Sakura even though it will mean sacrificing his friendship/relationship with her. They are offered help by way of a journey in which other characters join them.

Reviewer's Note: This is a CLAMP series. In my opinion it is not a very good series appearing to me to be CLAMP combining several series together.
