For those who may be in the area or around the area, my mom insists on throwing a graduation party for me and my sister (Becca's graduating from high school).  If you would like to attend, the date is June 17th (and that's a Saturday) from 1-6pm at my house.  For directions, call me or email me, as I shan't be posting directions to my house on here :)  If you would like a real hard copy of the invitation, let me know what your address is and I shall send you one with a lovely picture of my sister and I on it.  As if that isn't enough to entice you, there will be food.  Mom is going all out with the munchies, and no worries, there will be cake :)  Peace....

I am so bored.  I don't have a thing to do.  Hopefully when I go sign my contract I can pick up the textbooks for next year, so I can have something to do.  Yes, even reading textbooks would be more exciting than what I'm doing (or rather not doing) right now.  Graduation was fun, I got to sit in the science teachers section (as there are a whopping three of us).  Tonja was on my left, and Darrick was on my right.  Darrick and I became bored quite quickly with the speaker, Tonja was doing a better job of paying attention than we were, but our attention spans are minute.  We thought about switching names as we walked across the stage, so I'd have been Darrick and he'd have been Rachel, but I figured my mother would kill me if we did that, so we didn't.  I finally got a job (as was implied above with the signing of the contract) , and I'm now employed at West Platte, which oddly enough is where Jenny and Joyce graduated.  Small world isn't it?  Well, I would write more, but as it is, I'm getting rather bored with this, so I'm going to go do something.  Wish me luck.

High: Graduation (if not for the speaker, for the company around me)
Low: BOREDOM!!

Do you ever get to a place where it's hard to comprehend where you are in life?  You stop and look around, and you realize just what you've done.....where in life you are heading?  It dawned on me today that in 11 days, I will be finished with school.  Done, completely done.  I had a pleasant conversation with someone today, and needless to say, while senioritis has hit us, it's still odd to think we'll be done shortly.  I've dreamt about being done with school since I started (which was many moons ago).  I've wanted to be a teacher for even longer, and soon I will finally be able to do what I've always wanted to do, and get paid for it.  I feel so old right now- still young comparatively, but I feel old none the less.  I'm prepping to move out, trying to find a job, still learning to be on my own without a significant other, and trying to keep in contact with all my friends now that I'm no longer in the 'Ville.  Strange how much things can change in the course of only one year.

Had lunch with Bular today at Applebee's.  It was really nice to talk with her, I don't see her nearly as much as I would like.  Came home, wrote some test questions for my Bio II kiddos over the nervous system, filled out more applications for jobs, then had some dinner.  Watched Gilmore Girls (or rather half of it, as Katie Horner kept interrupting to tell us about the weather in Chillacothe--spelling?), cleaned up the room a bit, got a pleasant phone call from someone, then finished up the test questions.  All in all, a good day.

High: A phone call
Low: Realizing I'm almost grown up

I PASSED!!!  They passed my poor excuse for a teacher work sample, and what does this mean you may ask?  Well, let me enlighten you........I'M ALL SET FOR GRADUATION!!  As long as I show up for class for the next week and a half, and do what my cooperating teachers ask of me (which isn't much since we end all the units I've been teaching tomorrow), I am unbelievably and finally free.  Three cheers for me

Got to see some good people today, the fellow student teachers that suffered through the five weeks right along with me.  Missed them all very much, we all had stories to tell.  Apparently the Hangar is still functioning on without me *sniff sniff*, miss that place and the people terribly.  Caught up on life with Tonja, Justin, and Darrick (my fellow science student teachers).  Missed them even more.....Tonja and I were the only ones to go through the five weeks; Justin was working on his masters and apparently didn't have to take those classes with us, and Darrick was the first secondary guy to go the entire semester.  Found out I'm not the only one who has the attention span (and sometimes less) of their students, or who waits until the night before to plan lessons.

Well, must go assign grades to three sections worth of graphs *sigh*, but that's all for tomorrow.  They're taking tests and dissecting a snake (and btw, I had to dissect a TURTLE, scarred me for life), so easy day tomorrow :)  Peace.....

High: Seeing all the student teachers again today
Low: Not getting to see other people today :(

Holy Moses I'm tired.  They always told us we'd be tired, but wow.  It seems like I cannot catch up on my sleep.  *insert huge sigh here*  Spent the day in the 'Ville today, very nice seeing my girls again.  We had our alumnae event- it's so odd to think of myself as an alumna.  PS...I still don't like it that you ladies have to stand now for me, makes me feel quite old.  Bular and I almost stood up when more alumnae came in the door out of habit, then we realized that we didn't have to stand up.

So, in other news, I had a kid faint in my class yesterday.  He asked if he could go get a drink of water, and being as he wasn't a troublemaker of sorts, I said to go ahead.  I figured he really needed one, and he didn't sound great when he asked.  I turned back around to finish talking about the parts of the eye when I heard this "thump-thump".  I turned around, and there he was on the floor.  I went over, and I believe he was unconscious, but his eyes were still open.  I got one of my cooperating teachers, and he called the office and the nurse.  The kid was alright, as I asked the nurse later that day, but it was certainly caused a stir among the kids.

Well, my dreaded Teacher Work Sample is calling my name.  It was due yesterday, but Dr. Freeman is a wonderful man, and is letting me turn it in later on this week.  Due to the fact that my cooperating teachers have forgotten that I'm a student teacher, with emphasis on the STUDENT, I haven't had the time to finish my work sample.  It's taking so much more time than I expected.  They haven't been much help, I actually had to go talk to the department chair in the high school about labs, as my teachers didn't have any, nor were they about to help me look for any.  Almost done...almost done.

High: Getting to see all my girls today, I've missed them terribly
Low: Still working on my work sample, should be home free though here in a few days!!
