Beams Of Heaven: Indelible Grace IV

I Asked the Lord
By John Newton

I asked the Lord that I might grow
In faith and love and every grace
Might more of His salvation know
And seek more earnestly His face

'Twas He who taught me thus to pray
And He I trust has answered prayer
But it has been in such a way
As almost drove me to despair

I hoped that in some favored hour
At once He'd answer my request
And by His love's constraining power
Subdue my sins and give me rest

Instead of this He made me feel
The hidden evils of my heart
And let the angry powers of Hell
Assault my soul in every part

Yeah more with His own hand He seemed
Intent to aggravate my woe
Crossed all the fair designs I schemed
Cast out my feelings, laid me low

Lord why is this, I trembling cried
Wilt Thou pursue thy worm to death?
"Tis in this way" The Lord replied
"I answer prayer for grace and faith"

"These inward trials I employ
From self and pride to set tee free
And break thy schemes of earthly joy
That thou mayest seek thy all in Me"

Happy Friday, All!

Praise You in the Storm
Casting Crowns

I was sure by now, God You would have reached down
and wiped our tears away,

stepped in and saved the day.
But once again, I say amen
and it's still raining
as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain,
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away.

Chorus:
And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
no matter where I am
and every tear I've cried
You hold in your hand
You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry to You
and raised me up again
my strength is almost gone how can I carry on
if I can't find You
and as the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
"I'm with you"
and as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise
the God who gives and takes away

Chorus

I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth
I lift my eyes unto the hills
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth

Chorus

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

Ok... just got back from seeing Pirates of the Caribbean II with a bunch of people. Talk about a truly terrible movie. It's 2.5 hours long and even the directors seemed confused about the plot. Usually Johnny Depp can carry a movie, but not this time. Oh well. The best part was that we ended up having to go to a later showing because the first one was sold out so we all hung out at Panera and talked for like an hour.

Sandy Cove was AWESOME. It was such a great week and the whole team did such a nice job. I am so proud of everyone and was so blessed/encouraged/convicted by all of you. :) I would most definitely go back again, but I don't think I'll be home next summer.

Well, sorry for the short post. I think I'm heading to bed. I got 12 hours of sleep last night (I was SO worn out from the week) but I might as well stock up on some more.

Grosse Pointe Blank

It's crazy to think that the summer is about half over. In a month and a half I'll be heading back down to school to start my CL training and get settled into my room and ready for all my girls to show up. I'm excited, but I'm enjoying vacation. I have been working about 20 hours a week, so that has kept me moderately busy. I've still found time to make a couple of treks down to the beach, though. Earlier this week Taylor, Sarah, Chris, and I all went down to the beach for a couple of days. Lots of talking, movies, food, and card games. Not enough sleep. Too much sun. My shoulders are starting to peel. It's a little gross.

Yesterday was my birthday... I'm 20 now. Yippee. My family and I watched Grosse Pointe Blank and ate Lebanese food. Funny movie. Dark movie. A morbid comedy. Not my mom's favorite movie in the world. She put up with it because I picked it out for my birthday.

So... I got off work to go with everyone to Sandy Cove. I'm very excited. I couldn't go last year because I was in Thailand and everyone said I should try to come this year. I didn't think I'd be able to, but since it's 4th of July week and the office is closed on Monday I got someone to cover my Thursday shift and I'm all clear!

Went to BestBuy with my dad today. I think I could live in BestBuy. Only I'd run out of money. It's much harder for me to demonstrate self control in a place like that than at a clothes store. Clothes are fun, but not as fun as music and stuff. : )

Should head to bed soon...

The Inside Man

Mwahaha... 4 weeks of classes left! And three of those are four-day weeks! Yippee!! School's been relatively painless. I had a crazy week right after spring break, but this past week was pretty slow school-wise (busy in other things).

Oh! I made CL (RA, for those at normal schools). Soooo.... I have to come back to school WAY early in the fall (like August 10) for more training and to be ready for all my girls to move in! Way exciting. But the class/project has been keeping me busy. Almost over!

This weekend we had a Luau with RUF. SO much fun. On Saturday we had a campus-wide work-in-the-community-day and RUF spent the day at the city library. I hate weeding, but I had fun laying mulch. Saturday night I went out to dinner and a movie with people. The Inside Man was definitely not what I expected it to be, but it was very good (minus the language). Sunday was church, studying, SI, working out, grocery shopping, milkshakes (canceling out the effects of working out), and watching the last five minutes of the Duke-LSU game. All in all my weekend had lots of fun and not enough homework! Oh well. : )

We have Thursday off. It's some weird school holiday. I'm certainly not complaining.
