you know, I hate it when people haven't updated their xanga in a long time and then their all like, "Man, I haven't updated in SOOOO long!" I'm like, 'DUH' we can all tell that you've been away from the site - so, I won't do that. But sorry that I haven't updated in a while... haha.

Anyway - Tuesday is here, nothing substantial is happening. Unless you count that the entire state of Arkansas is under a Tornado Warning. Yeah, that's not too cool.

My last post I had several basketball photos and talked about the possible captions for them. I thought it would be cool to hold an official contest along that idea. SO - here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to post a picture and the best caption gets a prize... to be determined. Yeah, I like that.

Ok, so it's Thursday... sorry I didn't post yesterday.

Glad that's behind us - now then, let's get caught up...

HUGE Shout out to the SouthWest Church of Christ in Omaha, NE! I was supposed to visit them for a youth rally (Akastasia) but I got the dates wrong and ended up there a whole weekend early. Yeah, not so cool. What was cool was the youth group all coming out to dinner with me on Saturday. So - Props.

Contrary to popular belief, that was NOT my baby in the previous post.

NBA Season is among us, so I thought I would include some pictures from the first couple of weeks... I thought that it might be cool to get some captions for them. SO - comment with what you think might be going through the players heads... if it's good enough, it might win you something.

What really chaps me...

I love basketball. I love the NBA. I love the competition, the skill, the speed, the entertainment. It's great. What I do not love is the stealing of teams. Now until this point, I have not used my blog to talk about issues that get me or that I should have a view on... but last night I witnessed something that really, well... got me.

The start of the NBA season was a good one. But when watching the games something caught my eye. The New Orleans Hornets.

Hurricane Katrina is no joke. I know that the city of New Orleans is currently concerned with more than basketball or football. I know that the rebuilding of lives is the most important thing that needs to happen right now. I support that. I know that it may be a necessity for the Saints and Hornets to be relocated for the season. I know that they are businesses and need to do their best to make money so that they can stay afloat. With both of those issues in mind, I completely understand moving the two teams to other cities for this season. What gets me is that the cities that these teams have "moved" to are now doing their best to claim (I perfer the word 'Steal') these teams away from New Orleans.

Last night I saw footage from the Hornets game and was a little upset. I saw fans wearing Oklahoma City Hornets shirts. The floor read, "Oklahoma City Hornets." And to boot, when the team was introduced, it was "YOUR Oklahoma City Hornets!"

WHAT? Last time I checked that team was the New Orleans Hornets. I know that there are more important things happening in New Orleans right now, I am not so naive to think that sports is life. But people look to sports for comfort. If these teams cannot play in their home town, the least you could do is give credit to their home town! We should remember the victims of Katrina with every single Hornets and Saints game... if by nothing else, by their name. Oklahoma City should not be able to capatalize on one of the worst natural disasters our country has seen.

They Are.... and that really chaps me.

Ok, so Chad Tappe came up with a really good one! I will use it here for an example... First of all, you should know that John Sullivan (Sully_Van) works here in our office and is a GREAT recruiter. I love him dearly... he just has questionable pants.

Ole'!

Well it's Tuesday... we went to lunch as an office today. A new mexican place in town; I think that makes the count like 7. Literally. Anyway, it was good. They're serving free drinks in October and the portions are really big... gotta love that. Anyway, today's post is in honor of them. EL CHARRO! Mucho Goodo (I don't know spanish).

So the Astros play tonight, in Houston mind you. It could be the night. I can't wait to not watch it - I have that whole remodeling project going on right now... it's crazy.

In honor of our post topic, I want to hear about your favorite mexican food! Is it the bean burrito? The chimichanga? The fajitas? Let me know!! Mine? Oh, I love the combo platter of a cheese enchilada and burrito... it's the best. Until next time.

monday....

Well this weekend was not so fun. I am currently in the middle of buying a house and there are some things that need to be fixed before we can move in... so I spent the weekend killing bio-growth and replacing a ceiling. THEN I had to re-roof the laudry room. Crazy. And for some reason it got really cold here this weekend... gotta love that. Needless to say, I am tired and of course, it's Monday. What better day to be tired on?

Of course... aside from the bio-growth and roofing there were a couple of good football games on. The Redskins pounded the 49ers in a game that can best be described as a morale boost. I loved it. The Giants won a nail biter, the Lions finally got their act together and best of all, the Cowboys lost! Not to mention that I won in my Fantasy League... now I am sitting at a commanding 3-4... wow.

^(now this is what I call a tackle!)^

Anyway... the Astros lost again that stinks. I am really hoping they win the series but the outlook is bleek right now. I mean, anything can happen, but when Roger Clemens can only go 2 innings... well it's not good. Seeing as they won't let me on the field to hit that walk-off homer for Houston, I am growing out my "Astros Beard" until the series is over in hopes that it will propel them to victory... I do what I can.

Right now, I'm talking to Heather Goertzen who is coming to Harding next year. Go Heather!!
