| To those of you who actually read this, DO NOT OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT WITH CITIBANK!!!!
I had an account with them which had my brother as a secondary signer. I decided to close the account while I was on the phone with customer service while disputing another issue with my new Citibank account. I asked the person if everything would be ok because my brother lives in Oklahoma, and not New York. He said everything would be ok. they are going to send the check to me, etc etc etc. Weeks later, I never received it. I called them almost 2 months after I closed the account. They said it was mailed to my brother because he had changed the mailing address when he moved. He did not realize that I was also on the account. OK fine. No big deal. Call my brother. He never received a check. OK so i have to call Citibank again. They said they will do an investigation and they will mail my brother a letter stating what happened, and if the check was never cashed, they will send a new check. That call was made Sept 1, 2004. My brother never received anything and it is already Sept 27, 2004. So I called again, and they said it is still in investigation. OK Fine. They transfer me to a supervisor, who is abale to in 5 minutes to cancel the check and reissue another one. So they were DOING CRAP from Sept 1 til now. He said he doesnt even know what happened before. It doesnt even end there. Then he states that the check is in both my name and my brother's name. OK. Well there will be an issue to cash the check if my brother is in OKlahoma and I am in NY. You cannot cash the check into a bank account if one of the names on the check is not on the account. OK so now what? I asked the guy how long is the check valid for. 180 days. Hmm I probably see my brother like once every few years now that he is away. OK fine. I ask the guy what happens if the check never gets cashed and it expires. Well you can reissue it. OK. Well what happens if that one expires. "Maam these are all Hypotheticals" Umm NO it is not. I DO NOT SEE MY BROTHER THAT OFTEN. WHAT WILL HAPPEN? well you can reissue it. OK so then how many times? Well there is no minimum or maximum. OK so i can keep reissuing until my brother and I get to see each other. NO It might go to the state after 1 time. WTF. OK so this check for $560 might just sit in Citibank's account for their own use. GREAT. My brother already paid me the money and he prolly doesnt really care al that much about it, BUT I WILL NOT LET CITIBANK TAKE THE FUCKING MONEY.
In addition to all this, when I opened my new account with Citibank, there were other issues. First off, when i went to the branch and gave the guy my driver's license so he can write out my name etc and address, WITHOUT ANY ERRORS. ANd of course, he spells my name wrong. I look at the form i need to sign and its wrong. SO i told him. And he said that he put it into the computer already and he cant change it til tomorrow. OK fine. I ask if it will be done before they mail my ATM and Checks out to me. YEAH everything will be correct. 2 weeks later, everything comes. and of course it is Spelled incorrectly. OK fine I call the bank and ask them. They said that only the person who opened the account can change it. OK FINE Ill go back and have him change it. He is not working that day, so I leave a message. So Citibank calls me while I am in NEw Orleans with Eug on Vacation for a courtesy call. OK fine. Everything is ok i guess but i need to make sure the name is changed. OH no it hasnt been changed. OK. He says he can change it for me. OK Good then. Please send me the new checks and ATM card. ok I get back from vacation and nothing in the mail. Another week. Nothing. I call again. They said nothing was changed. There hasnt been any thing done. Uhh ok. Then that person can change it for me. Alright. We spent like 10 minutes going over my name and info. OK fine. 1 week later, I get checks and an ATM card with EVERYTHING STILL SPELLED INCORRECTLY. I call them back again and I was fighting to get the mail send express for Free. I was like you Guys SCREWED UP again. I was waiting for this over 2 months ago. and you guys keep sending me the wrong stuff. He was like well we are sending you free checks. HELLO. original checks were alerady free for a promotion. Are you telling me that I would have to pay for your mistake. He's like no. Well then does that sound like a gift to me if I would have gotten it free to begin with. So after like 10 minutes, he's like we can UPS them to u.
Over the last 3 months, since I opened the new account with Citibank, I have spent prolly like 3 hours with the customer service people. They promised me free checking since I work for Cornell Med, but that is only valid for 1 year. Something they failed to mention. Then they said oh with direct deposit you will continue to have free checking. Oh yeah but they fail to mention that you need a $6,000 balance in the checking account.
SO DO NOT SUPPORT CITIBANK.
I am going to open an account with Chase, which has free checking with no minimum.
| Well Finally finished with school. At least for now. Figure I will go back to school in a few years. I can't believe that I am actually going to be working full time, and making some money, and possibly moving out. It's so exciting, yet sooo scary. Well first, I never imagined that I would find a job so quickly and so easily. I basically sent out my resume to a few postings on Monstertrak. Noone responded, so I sent out a couple more. The same day, I receive one phone call while I was driving on Main Street, and asked her to call back. She never did. But then later that afternoon, a guy from Cornell Medical Center calls, and we set up an appointment. I go thinking this is my first interview, and I'll just use this as a learning experience for my next few ones. I really did not say very much. Just brief descriptions on what they wanted to know. I basically sat and listened to them describe their research, which was pretty fascinating. Then the two professors who were interviewing me went out to discuss how the interview went. They came back, and said that I was the last person they were interviewing. They found a couple people they thought would be good, and they told those people just to notify the lab if they would want the position if they were offered it. They said that to me, but also added that they really liked me, and thought I would be great for the lab and if I want the position, it was basically mine as long as human resources said everything was ok with the references etc. Everything went smoothly. I was officially offered the position yesterday, and I will probably start soem time next week after all the paper work. Ahhh so relieved. The pay isn't the best, but the experience will probably pay off later on. The lab does research for cancer, and if any of you have been reading the papers recently and heard that aspirin can reduce the risk of breast cancer, well I am going to be doing research for those guys. Many research assistants in that lab have published many journals, so hopefully you might find me in Science or something. So yes back to commuting on the subways again. Sigh. and Lot and Lots of reading and additional work after hours, but I know I will put everything into this, and eventually, it will pay off.
Also, I'm probably going to move in with Judy soon, which is exciting. Hopefully we dont kill each other. Well I guess thats all. Im heading to Texas, Oklahoma, and New Orleans in a few weeks with Eugene and family. That'll be good. Ok that is it for now.
| Ahh so excited. Roscoe is coming to stay with me on Wednesday. I cannot wait. I have puppy-fied my room, and his "room" is ready. =)

| My new Puppy. His name is Roscoe. He is ADORABLE!!!!!!! He is still in Queens, and I MISS HIM SOOO MUCH. But Eugene, who I MISS SOOO MUCH TOO is taking care of him, so I know he is in good hands. | | |
| Wow its been awhile. Hahah I'm so lazy... well Just got to thinking about some things.... Do you ever look back and just think I wish I did it differently. Like with classes, you can look back and say I could have gotten that A if I just started reading from day one and kept up with the work..With me, its with family. I feel like I could have been more patient. I do not think i show my appreciation to my parents as much as I should. I know I dont have that typical parent child relationship due to many different reasons, but I just wish it was completely different, and I feel like its just too late to establish it the way typical families are. =1 | | |
