  • I made the move...

For those of you who still use this... I thought it'd be only right to tell you that I've made the move to Myspace.com...

http://www.myspace.com/maul0r   is where you can find me... look me up! My profile is public.

I really didn't want to go there... but I've reformed some connections with people from my past so it's really cool.

  • Some people are such babies I swear.

So I'm in this class called "Game Prototyping" which is an advanced unreal2k4 class. The class is split off into 2 groups that each work together over 2 quarters to make a level, models, weapons, and UI changes to the game. We brainstormed and came up with a really cool idea.
Idea1: In the beginning of westernization in japan, many feudal lords took on western ideals which angered the traditional ronin/samurai of the regions. (IE: last samurai stuff). So the game would pit fast moving, high damage dealing samurai swordsmen against the feudal lord's guards, which would carry simple flint-lock guns and maybe some kind of small melee weapon. the idea is that the samurai could move just fast enough, and live just long enough that if you weren't a perfect shot you'd get sliced. however if you didnt know how to dodge you'd be shot for sure. The setting would be a feudal lord's castle, and the samurai would need to assault the castle and breach the throne room to be victorious, and the guard would need to hold out against them for a certain period in order to successfully defend.

It was my opinion that this concept would work, and be fun to play from both sides.

Today, we all showed up with the first concept drawings we'd done for this concept. As we were pulling the pics out, one guy from the group exclaimed "Oh, we're still doing that gay idea?". He had wanted to do WWII but we all agreed it was overdone and boring, even he agreed. However, he's a realist so his idea was to do this:

    WWII: China vs. Japan.
Idea2: Same setting as idea1 however now it involves chinese WWII soldiers fighting japanese WWII soldiers. Using those weapons and technology, but still on a traditional castle grounds.

issues with this idea: While it's true that the japanese and chinese fought during WWII, its a little known part of the war for one simple reason. THE JAPANESE RAPED THE CHINESE. They bombed the shit out of it, they burned towns etc... there was only gorilla-like resistance, the chinese just weren't prepared for such things.

I didn't know all this when he first suggested it, so I just argued that my idea would be more dynamic and interesting, however his response was "This idea sucks, its lame, I don't even want to be in this class anymore."

so you know what? Fuck it. I'm going to work on the environment pieces, I'm going to make tight models and that will be for my portfolio. If he wants to re-write history and look like a moron... so be it.

  • here's a pic of jade feeding the bird we rescued, since this picture i've gotten him hisown cage and we're currently weening him onto solid foods... he can fly a little so far, but mostly at a downward angle. but hey, least he doesn't fall ;)

he's got the same beak structure and body type of a Zebra finch so whatever spieces he is, its probly a close cousin to those guys.... which are native to south america or australia i think.

P.S.! check out Credostudios.com! its the new production team jade and i are part of.
