As many folks may have noticed, I haven't been updating my Xanga blog lately.  Well, there is a reason for that.  It's been too difficult to stay current with three blogs on three different sites so I have decided to close this one down.

If you want to check out my other blog that I updated consistently, go to http://360.yahoo.com/makyahrabb

You can also check out my MSN Space, although I don't update that one as often.  http://spaces.msn.com/kyah19/PersonalSpace.aspx

Sincerely,

Jess

Bad Me!

Sorry I haven't been updating folks!  I took a hiatus from Xanga, but I have been update my Yahoo! 360 site almost daily.  It's hard to find the time and energy to post both places and not post the same thing on each site.  I hope you all understand.

My dad is back from the Cancer Treatment Center.  He started chemotherapy (after lots of tests) last Thursday, and they flew back home on Saturday.  He isa really tired from the chemo and the drugs they are giving him.  It's just poopin' him right out.  In fact, I went to see him and my step-mom today and I spent the afternoon with him.  Actually, I was tired from driving when I got there so I took a nap while Dad took his nap.  He goes back for his second round of chemo just before Easter.

Speaking of Easter,  my nephews, Zachary and Jacob, as possibly Pauly, will be here!  Julia and Jason are bringing the boys up for the holiday to see Grandma and Grandpa, and Jan (my step-mom) said that they might bring Pauly with them.  Pauly is my step-brother JPs, son.  I can't wait to see them!  My uncle (dad's brother) and cousins will be up next weekend as well, to visit my dad and have a little vacation.  I hope I can get there to see them, especially Taylor and Tyler.

My Aunt Renee and cousin Deanna will also be up during Deanna's spring break from school within in the next couple of weeks.  They will be here in Marquette, though, while everyone else will be at my dad's house.  Jodie and Michelle (my sisters) will be home this next week probably, too!  They will spend time with Dad, and here in Marquette, I am sure.  At least half will be with Dad and Jan this time around though.

So, April is going to be one busy month!  On top of everyone coming to visit, I will still have to work.  I am working 20-25 hours at the RTC and 10-15 hours at Dunham's a week.  It's keeping me busy.  I had today and yesterday off.  I was going to see Dad yesterday, but I didn't sleep well so I slept in late.  Since I didn't get going until almost 1:30 and I still had things to do in town before leaving for his house, I decided to postpone the visit until today.  It was a good idea.  Dad was happy to see me, too.

I think that's all I have to say right now.  I will save other stuff to post later.  I don't want to bore everyone to death in one post. lol

MacGyver and Harry Potter

Mac Season 5

YIPPEE!!!  I just ordered season 5 of MacGyver (it came out today) and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Widescreen two-disc deluxe edition) on DVD!  They should arrive on Thursday (or Friday), from Amazon.com.  I signed up for the free Amazon Prime 3 month trial so I can get them in two days for free.  I can't wait at all.  If I chose just the free shipper saver option I would have to wait for over a week for them.

I already have the first four seasons of MacGyver and the first three Harry Potter movies.  I saw HPGoF in the theatre at Thanksgiving, but I love the movies, so I want to collect each one.  I bought the first three movies in a set in August, before my sister moved and took her copies with her.  hehe  I am a big fan of MacGyver and I have every episode on VHS, but I want the DVDs because the tapes don't play well anymore.  I can tape over them now that I am getting the entire series on DVD.  I can't wait until JAG comes out on DVD this summer either!  I am a DVD whore, I love to collect them.

Order MacGyver - Season 5

The results of my dad's bronchoscopy showed that he does have cancer.  He has lung cancer that has spread to the lymph nodes, so he has lymphoma, too.  He was scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, but he has cancelled that.  He was going to go through with the surgery, but my sister and my mother talked him into looking at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America website.  Well, despite being extremely stubborn, he did go to the website and read the information.  He called the number they had listed there and talked to a wonderful gentleman (in my opinion), who asked him a lot of questions and answered some for him as well.  He asked if my dad had some tests done, which he didn't, of course.  My dad is going down to CTCA in Zion, Illinois, to have tests done and see the oncologists down there.  Which is a much better idea then having a cardiothoracic surgeon cut out part of his lung.  The man he talked to also said having the surgery was a bad idea because the cancer could spread even further.  At CTCA, they will come up with an individualized treatment program to treat my dad's lymphoma and lung cancer based on the results of the tests they run next week.  That's right, next week!  They are taking care of all the arrangements, flight, hospitality, and everything, and even picking them up at the airport.  He and my step-mom are scheduled to leave on Sunday, but we don't know what time yet.  I am going to call my dad tomorrow and see if it can be arranged for one of his children to go, too.  If I can't, my mom said she would take next Thursday off, and we would go down to Zion, to see him.  My parents may be divorced, but they still care about each other.  My dad even called and thanked my mom for encouraging him to look at other options.  I think talking to the guy at the CTCA really gave him some sense of relief, especially knowing that people he doesn't even know care about him.  I know it has given me a sense of relief that I didn't have before.  I am glad he is going down there instead of just taking the doctor's word here.  He could die if he did.  My maternal aunt is an oncology nurse in California, and she wanted my dad to see an oncologist as well.  I mean, she deals with cancer every day that she works so she knows who you should and shouldn't trust to treat cancer.

A couple of things

I had my second shift at the RTC tonight.  The kids were pretty good, no big problems (not that I could talk about them anyway).  Mark, one of the other staff members, and I are planning to make pasties with the kids on Saturday, since we both work the 3-11 shift.  I have to call Erin tomorrow to get scheduled for some shifts at the Cedar Creek home, but hopefully I will be working 40 hours (plus) for Teaching Family Homes, with some hours on the side at Dunhams.  Then I should have the dough rolling in!  YIPPEE!  Especially since it's a struggle to pay bills right now.  ARGH!

The PET scan results weren't good for my dad.  The questionable spots showed up bright, which really isn't good at all (see previous entry).  We will know what Dr. J. wants to do  next Monday.  Surgery or a needle biopsy is scheduled for next Tuesday, the 14th.  We have to wait and see which one the doctor wants to do.  There's a good chance it might be cancer.  I was talking with one of the supervisors today and she said there is a correlations between those who stop smoking and those who are getting cancer.  According to the statistics, more people who quit smoking are getting cancer than those who continue to smoke.  I personally am just going to wait and see what the doctor says first before I start worrying.

Today was the third anniversary of my grandfather's death.  Papa died March 6, 2003 and I miss him very much.  He was a great man and I wish he was still around, just not with Alzheimer's Disease and heart disease.  I would want him to be here healthy and "all there."  The last year was very hard to watch him suffer so much, particularly in the last six months.  But he's in a better place now, where he doesn't hurt and he knows what's going on.  He will always have a special place in my heart though.

I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU, PAPA!!!
