The Painted Desert: PART XVI

Painted Desert, Badlands, call it what you will. No words can describe the emotion experienced when the light changes due to clouds being swept by and a thunderstorm develops in the distance. I wish I had time to take a  long hike and  shoot this landscape from many more vantage points but it was not to be if we were to speed off to the next place in the great unknown.

Hi Maarten...the piece of meteorite looks very much like it's made of stainless steel, something carved by a sculpturer...fantastic, no?  Hope you are having a good week, mine started off with a bang...seems like I'm always in trouble, huh?    Travels of yours, travels of mine...

Once again, #3 is my favorite! Do you do that on purpose? ;) Cloud formations are awesome, and storms make for great pictures.

Hi Lowie, I don't have all the facts but it is probably mostly Nickel more akin to a shotgun shot rather that like a single bullet. The Meteorite must have been much larger to create the crater but apart from this piece no other was found. One can imagine that the Meteorite must have been close to melting point at the point of impact with the core still being solid. Anyway I am very glad that I visited the the place. My week was fine. My travels will be over for now and I will have to just reflect on the memories of what feels like a distant past. Have a great weekend...

Thanks again for visiting. I appreciate your kind words. I am a big fan of clouds too. They can really make or break an image. No, it was not done on purpose but I enjoy the challenge.

I can't criticize what I don't understand.
If you want to call this art, you've got the
benefit of all my doubts.
