  • He's home. Recovery continues. The guests keep on coming.

    It's a miracle.

  • No news yet this morning.

Jacob spent the day yesterday with lots of visitors and making extra effort to move around - showered, dressed, and walked the hall a couple of times. He is pretty weak and does a weird shuffle when he walks, but I was just excited to see him able to be out of bed!

Yesterday afternoon's blood levels, though, were still going the wrong way - indicating more internal bleeding - and the doctor has not yet come to see him this morning, so I don't know yet whether he will be on strict bed rest in the hospital for three more days or coming home today.

And I'll praise you in this storm
and I will lift my hands
for You are who You are
    no matter where I am
    and every tear I've cried
    You hold in your hand
    You never left my side
and though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

  • Update: he left ICU yesterday morning and was scheduled to be released from the hospital today, but his blood levels aren't doing the right thing, so he'll be in the hospital for at least another day.

  • I ought to be getting ready for work, but instead I am watching my brother's one-week-old new motorcycle being unloaded from his coworker's pickup truck.

The motorcycle, once shiny red with no scratches, is in three pieces. Tubes are bent, the fender has holes in it, it takes three men to get the main piece out of the truck and into our garage.

My brother is in the Intensive Care Unit, deeply drugged and with lots of monitors and cords and IVs hooked up to him. At 5:56pm yesterday, I walked into the house after work excited about a quiet evening. At 6:03pm, Dad and Mom got The Phone Call and were rushing to the hospital to meet the ambulance. Our friend Jordan arrived around 7:00pm and kept us girls from going crazy. By 9:30pm Jacob was in his room at ICU with a diagnosis of lacerated kidney and liver and a slightly collapsed lung.

    Life changes fast.

About Me

  • "I can't help flying up on the wings of anticipation. It's as glorious as sailing through the sunset. It almost pays for the thud."
