Because I made this when I was tired, I knew there would be at least one error...

The correct answer to number 6 is Deadpool. Deadpool is an anti-hero not a villain. So, for number 6 choose Morbius (the Living Vampire, who is indeed a spiderman villain.)

The whole thing started out with dragging myself out of bed at 5:30, which was the first time I'd done that all summer (except the few weeks when I stayed up that late) and then I drove the farthest I've ever driven in my whole life, which was only to Columbia. Then we got a room at the Indianapolis Embassy Suites, which was beautiful. We met up with our suitemates (there were 6 others in the room with me -- Shh, that's illegal), and we hit happy hour. Then we went out to eat at the Ram, Indianapolis' finest bar. We played a game and then I had to share a pull-out couch with my friend, Chris (Yes, that's a dude.) I woke up the next morning, and we got the free continental breakfast. I got to walk through the Convention Center Exposition Hall, and spent at least an hour there just looking at all the stuff. One of our suitemates, Doug, was an artist and had a booth, so we went and visited him. We got lunch at the Mall, and then we started playing games. The first game was a Star Trek spoof called Paranoia Trek V, and it was quite funny. One of the suitemates we met at the hotel, Phil, had extra tickets at the fault of the conference, so I went to some of his events; this included Paranoia Trek, for which there were only 8 characters, and there were 10 people there to play, so the guy who brought the game started paying people to leave. Then I played a game called Fan the Flames, based off of a game called Jade Claw (which in turn is based off of Iron Claw) and the same thing happened, but the guy who brought the game had some extra Iron Claw characters that the others could use, so there wasn't a problem. Unfortunately, we had more fun making fun of the game than playing it. Lastly we played a game called 'Kobolds ate my Baby' until the wee hours of the morning. It was a larger event for around 20 players. It was very funny and very fun. One of the requirements was that anytime the name Torg was mentioned, we all shouted, "All hail King Torg!," which turned into an echoing chrous throughout the night. I went to sleep in the same couch, and woke up for the free continental breakfast. I went to get some generic tickets. We then started right away playing games; I went with Phil's wife, and fellow suitemate, Helene, to a 'LARP' or Live-action Role-playing (scenario), because I figured that as an actor, it might be fun to check out, but it ended up being cancelled. I went back to the convention hall for a second preview. We then went to see the 'True Dungeon' another LARP for which we were signed up later in the evening. We grabbed lunch again at the mall, and then went to a game with our whole group, which was Phil, Helene, Felix, Chris, and Ron, who was a friend of Phil's from Cinncinnati. The game was called The Devil's Brand, which was based off of Societas Esotericas story, and the Ars Magica game. It was very fun, I was a frenchman, and we were making each other laugh quite a bit. Then, we went to the True Dungeon, and it was like a dungeon that had been set up in the Marriott hotel, with traps and secrets in each room, and a cool battle system. We had an extra ticket, which we gave to a vendor, Sean, who was there, wanting to play. I played a symbologist and had to memorize a chart of symbols before we played. Other players had other things to memorize, including the shape of beads, the position of objects on a chart -- one person had to play mini-games that were like the board game "Operation" to solve traps. It was quite fun. The puzzles, however, were nigh impossible, and we ended up losing the game in the last room. We all went out to dinner afterwards, Sean included, at the Alcatraz Bar, and then back to the hotel for a nightcap, and some sleep, same sleeping arrangement. I woke up, and got the free continental breakfast. I went with my friend, Chris, to play an early game called "Sons of Zarathustra," which was based off of a Hinterwelt game. It turned out to be very cool, as it was the first to employ a sense of Drama. Then, Chris and I went through the convention hall, taking pictures, and checking out some of the merchandise. Here we saw Kevin Sorbo, from TV's Hercules and Andromeda, and Chris got his picture with one of the Man Show Juggies, who also slapped his ass, and also with a model, Alyssa Moore, for another card game called "Wench." We then got some lunch at the Marriot's Champions Sports Bar, and after killing some time here and there, we went to the Costume Contest. There were a few good entries, but it got long and we left at the talent portion. Chris and I got dinner at the mall before we went to our last game, Can of Whoopass. This was the most fun of the entire trip. We each got different charcters to portray, which were usually goofy combinations like King Khan, The King of the Hills have eyes, Special Agent Jack Sparrow, and the Dooku of Hazzard; some straight goofy characters like Eric Cartman, or Super Ex-Girlfriend; and some spoofs like The Buggernaut, and the Fab 5 (which were dressed as the Fantastic Four). I chose Proffessor Stephen J. Hawkman, a combination of Stephen Hawkings and the Justice League's Hawkman. They threw all of us together in a melee cage match, and watched us duke it out. The trick was: before we attacked, we had to taunt (in character) the person whom we were attacking, and the defender supplied a counter-taunt. It was funny enough taunting other people, but doing it in the Stephen Hawking voice made it AWESOME. I was one of maybe 3 newbies to the event, and I had everyone in stitches. I was saying things like: "Y-O-U-R D-E-M-I-S-E, I have spelled: your demise" and "I have theorized a gravitational anomaly in your Libido" and (to Super Ex-Girlfriend) "PMS error, error: Abort, Retry, Fail." I didn't get around to some of the taunts I'd written down, like: "Your head a'splode." Out of about 26 people, I think I was ranked about 14th, Chris was ranked maybe 16th, and Felix got 2nd place. Now the other fun thing about this event is it costs $4.50, but when you get out you get to "take what is fair" from the prize boxes, so the people who get out first have first pick, and the people who get out last get last pick, but places 1-6 get additional gift certificates to borders, and places 1-3 get 25% off coupons for HERO games, the people who sponsored the event. Even though I was out in the middle, I was awarded best taunt by the staff, and given Dave Chapelle's Block Party, and the first place winner gave me his coupon, because he thought I was so funny. The prizes I picked include: the DVD of Zathura, the SAS survival guide (how to survive in any climate, on any terrain), the National Geographic/Smithsonian Definitive Illustrated Encyclopediae of Animalia, the Food Networks "Favorites" cookbook, and a Serenity/Firefly GM Screen. At the end of the evening, we were given two cans of silly string apiece, with which to crown the king of the tournament. The event was extremely fun, but marked the end of the conference. We cleaned out our locker, and we met up with the others at the room, and turned on the TV to tune into the Rock. We talked and had some drinks and went to bed at about 3ish. I woke up shy of eleven this morning, completely missing the time-frame for the free continental breakfast. I woke in time to say goodbye to Doug as he was heading out for his booth for the last time. I showered and packed, and we headed to the car to drop off our stuff before making a final sweep of the convention hall. There we ran into he whose name I can't recall and shall hereafter be dubbed Jeremy. Jeremy had previously worked with Felix and Chris at Video Library, and we four were shocked to have run into one another. We cruised through the convention hall, stopping by Hinterwelt to pick up the game we played, and by "Wench" so Felix could get a picture with the model, and across the aisle, was an "Angel" RPG (based off of the first three seasons of the TV series) which I haggled from $40 to my last $24. I then went by the ATM, and withdrew $60 of the $100 I had left in my acount, and went by HERO to pick up the rulebooks, which were far too expensive, even with the coupon ($75 and $37) so I kept it, because it said Winner. We walked out of the hall to say goodbye to Phil and Helene who were flying down to their new apartment in Georgia, and Ron who was driving them to the airport, then flying back to Cincinnati. We had lunch in the mall for the last time, found the car, and started the 7 hours back. All in all it was a great time, and I was a little homesick being there alone (i.e. without someone in my family), and in that regard, it's good to be back, but I had a blast, and I can't wait 'till next year.

Cost breakdown:
Hotel -- $105 total per person (4 nights, 5 days, 7 people/room)
Food -- $100 total for me (Approximately $15/meal at 2 meals/day + Free Breakfast)
Gas -- $35 per person (plus two hour shifts behind the wheel)
Events -- $50 total for me (7 events, 5 at $3, 1 at $4.50, 1 at $30)
Extras -- $50 total for me (soda at 1.00 per can and 1.25 per bottle, $20 sweets, $24 games)
[Pre-registration -- $60 (I did this with a credit card in like June)]

Total money taken: $300 plus $60 (ATM)
Money left-over: $16
TOTAL Money spent: approximately $404

^^ I'd say I did pretty good for a full-out week-long vacation.

Tuesday, August 08, 2006

You know it's funny, I was thinking... no one ever reads this thing, so I should delete it, but I guess it was more that I never really ever posted anything with which you all would have something to which you could respond.
