| Yup so I'm back in the US... I'm not sure how I feel about that yet. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's GREAT to see family and friends again but.. I left a whole life in Portugal, a huge part of me. Friends, family, school, language, culture, etc... and it was harder leaving Portugal than it was leaving the US in the first place because I knew I was coming back to the US in 10 months. I don't know when I can go back to visit Portugal. I think the worst part about being home is that no one understands. I went through so many changes in such a short time and drastic changes too.. the way I think, the way I dress, the way I feel, even the way I eat. And everyone is expecting the same Mallory that left 10 months ago. And no one understands what it's like being home again either. Hearing and speaking English, seeing family I haven't see for a year, talking to friends who have a years worth of memories without me, etc. I feel left behind. But then again I don't because I experienced things so much.. bigger. I'm just going to say that those were the best 10 months of my life.. they were also the worst, the funniest, the stupidest, the craziest, the saddest.. they were everything. It was a completely different world and I miss it so much. This is my advice to everyone: Get out of the US someday. Go to a different country. Try to see the world. You may like what you see and you may not but at least you won't be living in ignorance of what's really out there.
Esta parte é para a Megan especialmente. Experimentará todas estas coisas muito muito logo. E siento-me mau para ti porque para eu não iria por que outra vez para algo. Vai chupar. Não sabes quando verão estas pessoas outra vez, nem se jamais vais ir. Como os amigos de AFS fez de países diferentes. Provavelmente já sabes todo disto. Acabo de querer ajudá-lo preparar para voltar para casa. Goze todo o teu tempo partiu em Panamá e não desperdiça um minuto.
