Check these puppies out!

Gwyn is an amazing photographer, and she captured these shots of Josiah at Heather and Andrew's wedding. I'm reposting them here for those of you who don't read her site.

It's time for more pictures! (and even a video!)

First I have to show off my new curtains, they are SO pretty. I picked out the material and my sister in law Luda sewed them for me. We have a system - I give her jewelry, she does my sewing, it's pretty great.

You can see in this next picture the color of part of the wall that the curtains are meant to complement. The flash kind of distorts the color of the curtains, they aren't quite so bright - they are like the color of a beautiful dark red wine. I LOVE them.

Now on to Josiah. He is getting better at playing in his exersaucer - there is this one yellow toy that he always gets mad at after about 15 seconds of chewing on it. I've actually started taking it off when he is in there. But I got these pictures before he started fussing.

He has the best little smile. I see my dad in him in this picture.

Falling asleep on Daddy's lap, watching the Simpsons.

Not his most flattering picture, but tell me if you can figure out what color his eyes are? I look at them all the time and I still can't figure it out. And check out how big his pupils are! Yep, he got those from me.

I got these shots today - he was giving me the sweetest smiles. Sometimes he looks at me with this special smile/gaze that I know is just for me. It makes me melt.

Now for pictures of his room. I haven't taken any because it has been a mess for literally the first 5 months of his life. I had stuff EVERYWHERE! I finally spent a whole day working on it, and got everything sorted and cleaned up, so now I can show it off. I got the idea for the clothesline from Heidi who just had her baby girl. I think it is so cute.

At some point I want to get his name hung up between the two windows behind the rocking chair. The cradle in this picture is full of stuffed animals - mostly beanie babies. I collected them a long time ago and just recently got them back from my in laws house. I didn't even know they were there! I had completely forgotten them, but they are in great shape, and since I've got them I figured this was the perfect place for them.

I did another clothesline on this wall above the bureau and changing table. The stuff hanging is special to me, or really cute stuff that he has grown out of.  By the way - he is HUGE! He is 18 pounds - more than that now - that was at his 4 month appointment and he is 5 months now. Some of the clothes he wears is 9-12 months and the striped outfit he has on in the previous pictures is 12 months! I love that he is so healthy but I wouldn't mind if he stopped getting so heavy - my arms are always tired.

He was sleeping while I was taking all these pictures. I love my little boy but this right here...this is the best part of the day. Aaaahhh.

This video is over a minute long, which might be too long for people who aren't into babies, and it's not super great quality, but I think it is REALLY cute.

Gross

I had to go to the store and post office today and apparently Anderson's skankiest men were all out today and I had a stamp on my forehead that said "STARE LEWDLY AT ME". I don't get it either, I really wasn't looking good, but at one point I actually started to get paranoid wondering if there was a big bug on me, or something else calling attention to me that I didn't know about. Nope. Just a lot of nasty men, and adolescent sweaty boys with no manners.

I'm not the only one, right?

To you mothers with babies - do you ever have times when your baby is fussy for long long periods of time, and after trying EVERYTHING - they are still fussy and you feel like you are going to really and truly lose your mind!?

I have had plenty of times when Josiah is fussy, or crying for no apparent reason. But usually the reason makes itself clear eventually. There have been times when I misread hunger for sleepiness and made him cry for a while until I figured it out. And the most likely culprit of him doing this is when he is really tired. But usually a little rocking, singing to him in a dark room with a loud fan does the trick. I've tried that at least 3 times in the past hour and a half. All he does is fuss and cry. I tried feeding him, changing him, playing with him, sitting him on my lap while I tried to get some homework done (yeah, right). I've tried his exersaucer and baby papasan, burping him and even wheeling him around in the stroller in the house. I already tried just shutting him in his room and letting him cry and get it out of his system a little while ago, but when I went and got him he was only semi ok for about 5 minutes and then he started the fussing again.

Right now I have him in his crib and his door is shut and I have earplugs in. Part of me is worried because I can't hear him and I hate not knowing if he OK, but seriously - I can't stand hearing that cry anymore, and I have SO MUCH I need to do.

I have never let Josiah cry until he stopped on his own. I know there are VERY different opinions about doing that, but right now I'm ok (sort of) with letting him cry it out. He's been going for 15 minutes now. I wonder how long it will take. Bill is on his way home, and I hope he stops before he gets here, but if he hasn't I'm going to let Bill deal with it when he gets here. "Welcome home honey".

Thanks for letting me vent.

He has gone from this...

to this in four months.

As happy as he looks here, he did not like this outfit. The pants squish his belly and the hat was a little too tight. It worked for about 5 minutes, then we went down to the onesie, which is what usually happens. He is a chunk!
