And He's Back

Wow, its been nearly a month.  I guess I got really sidetracked by loads of stuff. Anyway, there is so much to cover. I will probably forget most everything, but here is my attempt at actually talking about what has been happening.

First, I got this new fun video game system (well, my bro did, but we all mess around with it). It's that new Wii thing, and its a blast to play with the family. Its great for new gamers, and it was funny to see my relatives ask about what it was, get interested, and eventually play around with it. It's fun and easy to play. It was a little embarrasing to have some people that never play video games (my Uncle for example) beat me. It has been loads of fun.

Next, Thanksgiving. Lots and lots of family came over, as well as my brother Tim. As usual, I ate to a point that is unhealthy. Yes, little scrawny me can eat a lot, and I did. Of course, as I usually do, I had lots and lots of soda. Leftovers lasted a while, but I survived.

Then we had this manhood thing for me. I know its more than a month past my eighteenth birthday, but that was the schedule that worked. What our family does is invite some relatives and goes golfing and come home for a talk and a meal. When we went golfing, and I will just say I got the worst score you could get, and leave it at that. Use your imagination, it will be more entertaning for you and less humiliating for me. We had king crab legs, and I ate two.  They were the best crab legs ever. Very, very good. I also got a gift, a nifty ring. It's Titanium and black and silver. It's pretty cool because the middle black band is actually a seperate ring that can be taken out or put back in. Nifty gifties.

Afterwards, we did some Christmas decoration. We now have two artifical trees, one white, one green (I miss the days of those real trees). Other decorations are going up, but that takes time and means our family room shall be very messy for a long while. Also, that means all the fun Christmas stuff is happening. Christmas music, Christmas drinks (Peppermint Mocha!), Christmas decorations, and of course, beautiful commercial and private decorations. We live in and near pretty populated areas, so, we can see some really nice decorations. Of course, my favourite part is the shopping. I generally hate shopping, but at Christmas time, it all works out.

Now, for some great and weird stories. I had to get some blood tested the other day. It was about four vials worth. How do you get your blood taken into vials? Right, needles. I have a phobia of needles. I had an epiphany the other day, who doesn't hate needles? Well, the way I react when I see needles is different than most. I generall flinch and get sweaty palms and all, but when I actually get the shot, I start laughing and smiling uncontrollably. It's really bad. The lady giving me the needle asked if I was ok, and I told her I just hate needles. For the rest of the withdrawl (which, btw, took way too long), I just kept randomly laughing. It was a sight to see. For the rest of the day, I was a hypochondriac freaking out when anything touched my arm. I was convinced my arm would lop off or something. Not fun.

For NCFCA, I watched an LD tournament, have been preparing for five speeches, and then right before Pt. Loma registration, I got a TP partnership proposal from Noah Oberlander.  Of course, I couldn't refuse, so at Pt. Loma, I am doing TP. I am excited, but now I have less than a month to do tons of research. Not cool.  But, of course I shall survive ;p.

Finally, it was my dad's birthday today! He, of course, turned 27, and is looking just as young as ever. It was a great day, going out to lunch. Everyone ate at Panda Express while I ran off to Arby's where they horribly messed up my order. In the end, I nearly got $2 off my meal because of their mistakes, so it all worked out. We went shopping, opening gifts, reading cards, and loads of other stuff. Life has been good. I think I missed loads, but I will post with more updates as I can :).

Sup...

To answer my own question, not much. I really don't have much to say about any previous going ons, but I wanted to post cause I haven't in a while. In addition, I do have one important announcement. Brett Walker and Kyle Forti (a former CA debater) won their RR as well. I have suddenly noticed my good friends (and siblings) seem to be winning tournaments. Coincidence? I think not...

Ok, ok, I was just smart enough to befriend the winners. So there

Heggems Unite

We recently had our birthday for our October and November birthdays in our family, and it was a great time. I occassionally try being introspective, and I came to some brilliant conclusions. I found out that I get along very well with my Heggem side of the family. To explain well, it is time for some family history. My mom's side of the family is the Harwood side, my dad's side is the Heggem side. They are just very different families, which isn't bad at all, I love them both to death. However, they are very different, and I fit in with the Heggem side very well.

Harwoods like those fancy sit down restaurants, I like the fastfood chains. Harwoods are more traditional (talking of the past), Heggems more modern (talking of present and future). I mean, these are just a few areas. I really can't emphasize how different the families are, but how they can get along. The Heggems...just have this aura about them. I love it, I am a Heggem at heart.

So were at the party. Lately our family has been...rather productive. We have quite a few little babies and toddlers, not to mention plenty of people that act like toddlers. I'll just say being eighteen hasn't changed much. I love to hang out with Trevor a lot, but one of the newer additions to the family, Leila, has been of my particular interest. Little Leila is very young, not even a year old (if my memory serves me). That hasn't stopped her from growing lots of hair on her head, gosh, she has so much, and it is the softest, best hair ever. But she is just cute as a button. I love little kids, but most are either mellow or always sad (maybe its just after they meet me), but Leila is highly responsive to what people do, is very energetic, stubborn, and usually very happy. In other words, she is my type of baby. I playe with her forever, had my hair pulled, glasses slobbered on, and most head beaten with a spatula (sp?). Probably my favourite part about Leila is her happy squeel. She does not laugh when she is happy, she screams bloody murder. I always looked up expecting tears and a sad face, but she was always estatic when she make that scream. That scream was the focus of much attention from the whole family, we all thought it was the cutest thing ever. And it was. You have to see it to believe it.

Another brilliant conclusion I came to...I don't have a butt. Worse than that, excersising (sp?) will make the back...leg...torso...area...very sore. Very, very sore. I now sit on soft chairs with pillows on top all day and I still have one sore rump. Even when I eat a lot of fattening food, I just can't do anything fix my keester. :Sigh:

Oh, and Samantha Nasser won her Team Policy Round Robin that she was at. I and other friends of her were just expecting that all along, but having it official...well that didn't change much actually. Anyway, she won.

Thar She Blows

Remember that Dump-N-Go I referred to? There was only one, and here is a picture of that gas station. In fact, that is the bush I took a Dump in. Oddly enough, a few days after that, a beautiful palm tree grew there. Odd.

Being an Adult

So, on October the 27, I became eighteen. A lot of people have been asking me if I have been feeling different or if I feel more mature or similiar stuff, and I will just to the point right now (I had enough senseless suspense in my last post ;p). No, I don't really feel any different. I have never found that becoming a different age magically makes you cooler or dumber or anything like that. So, sorry, no really amazing stories there (though I am registering to vote and get drafted. Mmmm, drafting.). However, I have my other fair share of good stories.

My two little brothers are doing their first year of debate. My brother Stephen went 3-2 in his first varsity track round robin, and in two or three of those rounds, he was the highest ranked speaker (despite being a novice). Philip went in the novice track, and went to the final round. Not only that, he won the final round, going undefeated at the tournament. In addition, he was the fourth place speaker. Yay! Yeah, I am bragging about my family, but I can do that.

Not only did I turn eighteen, but my Grandfather (my mom's dad) turned 75. He drove up from Arizona and we ate at this nice restaurant where I had my best serving of pasta ever. It was very different. I am a very big eater and I love normal spaghetti sauce, but instead I had this special lemon sauce and very vegetably pasta. Sounds weird? Well, it does, but it was great.

However, my favourite story so far was going to my boring Algebra class today. Right off the bat, the day just started weird. The teacher came in late, and looked she just got hit by a truck. She was wearing what looked like very oversized PJs. She brought in a bottle of water, and was constantly taking huge draughts. Not only that, she was very moody. She was either laughing a whole ton or being unusually upset. Not only that, but she kept spilling her water. I came to a possible conclusion in my mind, but no, it couldn't be. It turns out I was right. She admitted a few minutes into class that she "had a drinking problem". I don't know if she was hung over or still slightly drunk, but she was pretty unusual all day. By the end of the class, she was more sober. Interesting observation. When sober, she always uses printing. When not so sober, she uses cursive. Just thought I would share. Sadly, it will be another three years before I can join my teacher in her bar hopping adventures ;p.
