Gimme That Old Time Religulous

religulous_Pstr

I went to see this flick thinking I'd be mildly annoyed at the antireligious sentiments expressed by Bill Maher but I did get a kick out of the cultural sensibilities of Borat (Director Larry Charles) and figured I get my bucks worth out of it regardless.

I was not at all disappointed.
TelMegiddo_Cls_up

Starting off at the ruins of Megido, Bill Maher makes his case... Religion, especially fundamentalist religion, all points to this one place of annihilation.

I can't say that I can argue against his case.

I have always regretted the fact that the "left" gets all the good points on the arguments such as Darwinian evolution and Galileo's astronomy while the "right" is left with a pile of crap in Creationist Theory (really a belief founded on a most confused set of facts and misconceptions) trying to explain how dinosaurs cohabited with early humans.

I am a conservative because I believe that "liberal" policies and institutions have led us down the primrose path to 9/11. I am not a conservative because I had a frontal lobotomy.

I am so firm in my faith that I allow God to do all the defending it needs and do not turn my back on whatever we can find out about the world through scientific methods.
religulous-Mhr_n_Jsvs

I wish that every Christian, Jew and Muslim I know would go and give this flick a glance... even a critical glance would be nice. But I fear they won't. And I know why they won't. They won't because they already have imbibed the sort of certainty that flies airliners into tall buildings full of innocent people. Bill Maher's point is well taken: it is this kind of certainty that will lead us to the plains of Megido and it won't be at all pretty.

Hey Joe, Where you goin' with that smirk on Yo Face?

Hey-JoeBiden_Palin
Is that a white flag in your pocket
or are you just glad to see me?

Depending on who you are listening to, reading or watching, the debate between the VEEPs was an overwhelming victory going to Joe Biden or Sarah Palin.

A CNN poll found respondents judging Biden the winner by a margin of 51% to 39%. AOL called it Sarah Palin 47% to Joe Biden's 45%. While the Drudge Report poll  gave Biden a mere 28% to a real stomping 70% by Sarah Palin.

Like there is some sort of objective points in these debates whereby we can be assured the source has no bias... Like Olympics gymnastics!

I watched to see how my dear Sarah would fare and was overjoyed at her performance... and that is what it is... a performance. It really has nothing to do with how well either one would perform in office.

When she made that "white flag" pronouncement I knew that she was going to be just fine. I had very little to cringe about like with the Couric slice and dice interviews.

She could have stuck Joe with some responsibility for deregulating the Fanny and Freddy mess and she could have done a bit more to tear into some of Obama's more interesting alliances... but hell, these debates are really just a dog and pony show anyway... aren't they?

I love that girl... I do.

Not Mickey Mouse Too!

Mickeyzion
Mickey Makes "The List"

I watched Sixty Minutes last night to see how Obama would answer one question. Unlike many of my fellows on the right I don't fear Obama and his social engineering leftist politics. I know that the mechanisms that govern the nation are so large and creaky that little can be done in the span of four or eight years to turn the USA into a socialist workers paradise. I watched him answer the question of how he would deal with Putin's Russia or the Iran of that nut case Ahmycrotchisitchydad.

Obama seems to believe that there is some diplomatic trick that hasn't been pulled out of the hat thus far by the present administration. It is as though he believes that these are reasonable people who have reasonable design for the world in general.

Perhaps this is true of that gangster thug Putin but those Islamo-punks (Sunni or Shiite) are so far over the edge where reason is concerned that there is no sense that can be made by discussing anything with them. If you don't believe me on this point you might explain to me how a fatwa against a cartoon rodent can make any sense to anyone whose head isn't bound a wee too tight for proper circulation.
islm_cartoon_11
Where a Cartoon is an excuse for murder!

Furthermore, I don't trust anyone's judgment so naive who says we can resolve our differences through diplomatic channels with people who think like this.

September Eleventh... Seven Years Later

WTC_attack_9-11

I got this from Reuters:

Seven years after the Sept. 11 attacks, there is no consences outside of the United States that Islamic militants from al-Qaeda were responsible, according to an international poll [WorldPublicOpinion.org, a collaborative project of research centers in various countries managed by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland in the United States] published Wednesday.

The article goes on to note that the interviews were conducted in China, Indonesia, Nigeria, Russia, Egypt, France, Germany, Britain, Italy, Jordan, Kenya, Mexico, the Palestinian Territories, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey and Ukraine.

In Europe, alQaeda was cited [for blame] by 56% of Britons and Italians, 63% of the French and 64% Germans. The U.S. Government was blamed by 23% of the Germans polled and 15% of the Italians

It strikes me that there are 13% fewer idiots in France than in Great Briton and a whopping 41% fewer nut cases in Italy!

OOOPPPS! I got that back-ass-wards!

Of course, the rest is predictable: 43% of the people in Egypt, 31% in Jordan and 19% in the Palestinian Territories blamed it on Israel.

This one caught me off-guard: 77% of the folks in Kenya and 71% in Nigeria put the finger right on al-Qaeda! That is probably more than in the USA the way I read these conspiracy blogs.

I will never forget the impression made on me that morning when I watched New York City Fire Department and the New York City Police Department... the Port Authority and so on...  rushing into those buildings to save people.

It changed my politics forever. I became something other than the knee-jerk , genuflecting liberal I was before that day and started to see my country for what it is: A shining Light of Liberty in a Sea of Darkness.

Dishonesty?

mcCain_palin

This is just too juicy to ignore... When the pot is calling the kettle black and reality takes a hike for a few months I give pause when I hear a politician calling another politician a liar.

Obama today called McCain and Palin liars... "Shameless" liars as a fact.

For what? Asserting that their records show that they represent a change from the usual tacky politics only the tackiest would think of employing. Here we are in the tacky season (between now and November).

Actually, I thought someone as slick as Obama would skirt issues such as honesty when I look at how he has manipulated the truth through his fawning mouthpieces in the mainstream media.

This is a guy who has stood before the whole world to say that (even though he had a pew in that church where his pastor regularly ranted anti-semitic rhetoric) he was not there on any such occasion and did not hear his pastor spew any such nonsense.

This is the man who says he is for change but in all the time he was a member of the Senate he sat on his hands and abstained from voting on piece after piece of legislation. In fact, it has been pointed out that his only significant votes in all the time he was in the Senate was that of "Present".

I know it ain't honest
but its nice.. eh?

I love this gal from Sandpoint Idaho. They grow gals like her up in Northern Idaho all the time. Sure, she moved to Alaska but she is an Idaho gal at heart.

Palin hit the "G" spot on Gloria:
"Not My Glass Ceiling!"

Well, this is one woman Gloria Steinham would like to keep at home... barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.
