  • renaissance woman

    3.5 yards of fabric: $12.87
    Needles, thread and pins: $5.68
Hours during the week to construct: 25 hours

The look on people's faces when they found out that I made my dress without a pattern or a sewing machine, being called stunning by several people and leaving with the bartender's number: Priceless

  • a fearsome thing to behold

Pride and Prejudice (2005) movie quote:
Mr. Bingley: Well, I think it's amazing that you young ladies have the patience to become so accomplished.
Miss Bingley: Whatever can you mean, Charles?
Mr. Bingley: You all paint tables, and play the piano, and embroider cushions! I never heard of lady but people say she is accomplished.
Mr. Darcy: Indeed, the word is applied too liberally. I cannot boast of knowing more than half a dozen young women in all my aquaintence who are truly accomplished.
Elizabeth Bennet: My goodness, you must comprehend a great deal of the word.
Miss Bingley: Indeed; she must have a thorough knowledge of music, singing, drawing, dancing, and all the modern languages to deserve the word. And something about her air, and manner of walking....
Mr. Darcy:  And, of course, she must improve her mind with extensive reading.
Elizabeth Bennet:  I am no longer surprised at your knowing only six accomplished women, I now wonder at your knowing any.
Mr. Darcy: Are you so severe on your own sex?"
Elizabeth Bennet: I never saw such a woman. Surely she would be a fearsome thing to behold.
A co-worker called me a "renaissance woman" when she found out I was making a dress. Saying something that I am like a renaissance woman where I can do a little bit of everything, and do it well. And all I could think was "hmm, play the piano, embroider cushions, sing, draw, dance, got a few modern languages and read...I must be a fearsome thing to behold"

Me: It's MayJean. May like the month, Jean like my Jean Jacket. MayJean...my name sign is MJ.

Patient: Your for real name is MayJean?

    Me: Yup

Patient: Dang, I thought you made that up...

  • confidence boost

I was shopping a few weeks ago and this little girl was sitting in her mom's cart, eyeing me as I considered two different snowboard jackets. Then from behind me pipped up this little voice...

    Her: I like your dress

Me: Oh, well thank you. I like your dress!

(silence...her mom starts to wheel her away)

Her: A-and, aaaand, I like your purse a-and I like your hair

    Me: Goodness, thank you.

What a confidence boost that random little 4 year old was!

  • well hello sassy

Quotes from a four year old client (over one session mind you)

    Her: "Your hair wet"
    Me: "No it's not"
    Her: "Uh...yes it is"

Her: "Why is your dress green?"
Me: "Because green is my favorite color"
    Her: "Hmm..."

    Her: "Try again...K-AY-K, Cake..."
Me: "Nooo, you try again. You say it. Tate"

Her: "I want the green one, you want a red one"
Me: "Actually, I want a blue one"
Her: "No, you want the red one"

Her: "I want the caterpillar game"
Me: "I don't have the caterpillar game today"
Her: "Yes you do, I saw it"

Me: "Do you want to play with the elephant or the monkeys?"
    Her: "I want the elephant"
    Me: "Alright"
Her: "No, I said the monkeys"
    Me: "Okay"
Her: "No I want the elephant"
    Me: "Okay"
Her: "No, I said I want the monkeys
