Wow...has it really been 6 months

Well well well...6 months ago to this day was my last post on xanga. Go figure. How odd...so...let me update what I've been up to:
1. Finished my teaching internship
2. Finished my degree
3. Am a substitute teacher now.
4. I work part time (in the evenings) at Futureshop...and it's AWESOME!! (for those Americans who read this...it's like Best Buy...only better.
5. I've become addicted to Booster Juice...because it's that good.
6. Spiritually...God ROCKS! I'm keeping the awesomeness of God in my heart and loving every minute of it.
7. My new niece/nephew should be due to arrive into the world anytime in the next few weeks...as in 2 or less...I hope.:D

It's funny how when you achieve one of your passions in life...it just makes more sense. I am absoluetly loving being a teacher. I am so glad God has called me to this place in life. There is nothing I'd rather do...really though...I have virtually no complaints about life right now...cept that I'm REALLY busy and end up subbing from 8-4 in the day then working at Futureshop 5 - 10 most days. It's a little busy...but life is amazing.

I'll keep it short for now and potentially post a little more later. But I encourage you all to read Matthew 12...why...because if you read this...and you aren't a regular bible reader...well..it's a place to start...and not a bad place at all....so...jump in...cause the water is juuuuuuuuuuust great!

Passionate Poetry in a Teacher's World

Hey Folks,

I've only got a few more days left on my teaching internship and 4 months left until I'm done my Bachelor of Education. Here is something I wrote recently about it:

I have learned that teaching is more than a job. It is a career. I am a teacher when I am done school at the end of the day, when I go to sleep at night, and when I wake up in the morning. A teacher is more in the public eye than many other jobs. As a result, our actions are looked more closely upon, scrutinized and analyzed by the rest of the populous, because we are taking care and educating those who are cared about most in our society. Our future. Our world.

I take this burden up with pride, and vigor. I hoist it on my shoulders like the proverbial Atlas hoisting the world on his. I know it will a hard race, my internship has taught me that, but I hope I can be make it to the finish line with dignity, respect and honor. If not, then I’ve failed at my career. This internship, I hope, has given me that little piece I need to start. Experience and reflection, amongst other things, will give me the rest.

May God grant me the patience and peace to continue on my race of guiding others to the finish line.

I'm gone,

Something a kid said

Today, we talked about how we can change the world in class and the kinds of problems there are. A boy in class, who is fairly disabled, said "why can't we be nicer to each other". Note: the boy has a speech impediment...a major one.

I wrote that down, got a few more suggestions. Then he said he wanted to say something.

I let him, he got up in front of the class and said, almost verbatim:

"We are not kind to each other today. These two people (points out two people in class) are always fighing over stupid things. We all do that. The world is a sad place. We are always fighting over nothing. What do you want, to die in bed with people surrounding you who are happy? Or to die alone, with everyone hating you?"

I almost cried, so did the substitute....it was amazing. This kid was fired up when he was saying this. He blew my mind.

Spiritually...it makes sense. We are called to love each other. This boy has it right. We fight over nothing. Internally, as Christians, we fight over a lot. We have "hot buttons" or topics that get people riled up and we have long circular debates over nothing when we should be focussing our time on the lost. I know this is basic and we all know it, but it really MEANS something.

That's all for tonight,

Lost Poetry from a Silent Mind

HHEY HEY HEY,

Well...it's been a wild ride of a christmas, but I won't relay it all, as I'm kind of in the middle of doing school stuff right now...but I will leave you with some random thoughts....

1. The song Go For a Soda by Kim Mitchell has a cute chorus in it:

Might as well go for a soda...Nobody hurts and nobody cries

Might as well go for a soda...Nobody drowns and nobody dies
Might as well go for a soda...It's better than slander
It's better than lies

2. The Greek Philosopher Epictetus said, when referencing the purple thread in a white robe: "But I wish to be purple, that small part which is bright, and makes all the rest appear graceful and beautiful. Why then do you tell me to make myself like the many? and if I do, how shall I still be purple?"

I enjoy being purple

3. Ephesians 4: 25 - 32

25Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26"In your anger do not sin"[d]: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27and do not give the devil a foothold. 28He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need.

29Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Ephesians5: 3 - 4

But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people. Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk or coarse joking, which are out of place, but rather thanksgiving.

I am officially taking these very seriously now.

Alright, it's bedtime.

Night Night all,
