Derek and I went to the kidney specialist today. Don't know if I was imagining things, but it seemed so quiet outside. Like everything was moving in slow motion. I couldn't bring myself to watch tv this morning. It's hard to believe that it's been a year since this horrific tragedy. I drove all day with my lights on in rememberance. You'd be surprised at how many cars I passed that did the same.
Nothing too exciting at the doctors office. Just the same ol' bs they told us in the hospital. At least they're positive about his kidneys. Seem to think he'll bounce back fairly well. So, after we left there, we went to Borders to look around and then came home. Am still not feeling up to par, but better than yesterday and the day before. Well, I have to go do the dishes. Here's to America, may peace and love ease your pain. These two poems I found on a website. I did not write them.
After Awhile

After awhile you learn the subtle difference between holding a hand and chaining a soul, And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning and company, and it doesn't mean security.
And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts and presents aren't promises, And you begin to accept your defeats with your head up and your eyes open, With the grace of an adult, not the grief of a child, And you learn to build all your roads on today Because you never know what will happen tomorrow.
After awhile you learn that even sunshine burns if you get too much. And you learn to plant you own garden and decorate your own soul, Instead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers. And you learn that you really can endure, That you really are strong, And you really do have worth.
In Memory

For the innocent people who died needlessly on September 11, 2001, we shall light a candle so you can find your way to the heavens.
For those to whom have lost a loved one, we will come together to show our love and support, and hope that we can forgive our nation for crumbling for one split second.
Now on this day we will unite and come together to rebuild our families and cherish those we still have, so we can build a strong Nation.
To the people we lost September 11, 2001, we will never forget, but knowing you're with us, we are one.
We are the United States.

| Quote of the day: "As I understand it, all these people are dead because of religion. And if you live to be a thousand years old, will that ever make any sense? Will that ever make any goddamned sense?"
~David Letterman on the attacks of Sept. 11th

| Quotes of the day:
Learning builds daily accumulation, but the practice of Tao builds daily simplification. Simplify and simplify, until all contamination from relative, contridictory thinking is eliminated. Then one does nothing, yet nothing is left undone. One who wins the world does so by not meddling with it. One who meddles with the world loses it.
Tao te Ching, 48. Lao-Tzu
Hereafter, in a better world than this, I shall desire more love and knowledge of you. William Shakespeare (1564 - 1616), "As You Like It", Act 1 scene 2

Happy Birthday, NickyJett!!
My last post, I was kinda down. I had seen a little boy on tv that reminded me of Nathan...about the same age too...3. So, I had to get it out of my system. Today has been pretty eventful. I get to work, and my client is sick. She says the flu is going around (hope I don't get it!). So she sends me home and I'm in the elevator (by myself) when I get to the second floor....all the lights go out for a minute, then come back on. I pushed the buttons, tried to open the door...nothing. I start freaking out. I'm scared of elevators as it is, and now I'm stuck in one?! So, I start banging on the door yelling for help. Finally someone hears me...the manager and the cleaning lady. They ask me once how I am doing, I say I'm okay, then they ask repeatedly, and I'm trying not to freak out, so I just say "I'm stuck in your frickin' elevator, how the hell do you think I'm doing?!" So, they then tell me the fire dept. is on their way and then a moment later, a lady yells, "I think it was a power outage, the elevators haven't been working right today." To which I reply "Oh really? What made you think that?" There was no signs anywhere indicating there was elevator trouble. But, the fire dept came and pried the doors apart...helped me step on the 2nd floor (the elevator was below it a little ways, but not much) and I was free. I then proceded to go down the stairs and throw up in their restroom. Aren't I so strong? lol. I'm surprised I didn't pee my pants! So that was my big adventure for the day. Got home, visited with Derek for a little while, and then took him to work. I think I could go to sleep for the rest of the day. maybe I'll stick in a dvd upstairs, get in my comfy pj's and curl up and snooze. Or, maybe I'll re-read my LOTR trilogy. Love those books. That sounds relaxing. Wish I had my piano here (it's at my parents), playing always relaxes me too.
