Edit: It appears that 48 out of 50 co-workers were fooled by my 'new' hairdo, and 5 out of 5 xangans were fooled as well. Hmmmm, that's about a 98% success rate on my April Fools prank! C'mon, you gotta laugh. At least you guys are finding out tonight (if you read it tonight). My co-workers won't discover it until I walk in tomorrow morning with my regular 'long', red hair! Y'all know I love ya, right??

Thanks mom for gifting me with wigs I never thought I'd use and tell daddy Happy birthday again for me!

So last night I tried to get back to my roots...literally. But I'm not sure I remember them so I went with a medium brown. And then, because I sometimes have blonde moments, I forgot that I did red less than two weeks ago and must have fried my hair. So it is now brown...and short, short, short! I'm at work now, but when I get home I'll post a picture.

6 years ago this morning, I was in Baylor Hospital with a ton of pain and lots of legal drugs. 6 years later, I no longer have the drugs and I'm not in the hospital. That's all I'm saying!!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop in and show off Olivia! As some of you know, Butch works for the Sheriff's Department and they are looking for someone to sing the National Anthem at some of their public events. As a result they asked him to have a demo made of Olivia singing. Here it is...you are the first to hear it, as we just got back from the 'recording studio'. I took a few photos of her in the studio, but they are on my cell phone and I would first have to figure out how to get them downloaded to the computer...good luck on that one!

Weathering the Weather...

Ah Saturday...just two days ago. Beautiful day, low 80's, perfect for the first day of March.
Oh Sunday...yesterday. Looked gloomy, a little breezy, in the 60's. Still great weather for March.
Monday, Monday. Woke up and it was 48 and rainy. Drove home and it was 40 and windy. About to go to bed and what the stinkin' heck?!? 32 degrees and snow falling outside my window right now!

Dadgum TEXAS weather. I know most southern states have that saying, "if you don't like the weather wait a couple of days and it'll change". But here in our great state of Texas, the saying is (more appropriately) "if you don't like the weather, wait an hour it'll change".

So I'm just here, warm in my PJ's, weathering the weather and wondering whether I'll be able to go to work tomorrow in this weather.

I wonder whether I made my point...about the weather?

I'm alive and well...

Just wanted to pop on this morning and let you all know I'm alive and well!

I'm approaching the 6 month mark at my 'temp' job...hopefully they will offer me a permanent position.
Butch has completed (and passed) the written, physical and polygraph portions of the deputy's tests. Friday morning he has an interview...where they will probably try whatever they can to ruffle his feathers. After that, he'll have the medical and psychological tests, one test per week. Academy starts March 31st.
Olivia is doing great in school. Track tryouts were yesterday and if I remember correctly, she's doing the hurdles and the long jump. She's also itching to get back on stage and start singing again.
Trey is in tutoring and trying to get his TAKS tests scores up to a passing level. The kid is as smart as a whip, but he thinks outside the box. For tests like these, they want inside box thinkers.
And finally, Savannah. You know it's gonna be good right? Last week Savannah joined the "cut your own hair" club! However I immediately revoked her club membership and took her to the salon to fix whatever damage there may have been. I've got to give her credit,she did leave enough for the stylist to work with and at least she didn't scalp herself like Olivia did 5 years ago!

Savannah’s Sayings…

I swear my youngest comes up with the craziest one liners. I’ve collected a few over the last week to share with you all.

While watching Tom & Jerry cartoons:

Laughing and slapping her thigh – “That cat’s crazy.”

In regards to Olivia:

“I went to wake up Livi, but when she looked at me her eyes were really big. That girl scares me.”

When Butch was tickling her yesterday:

“Daddy, I don’t have time for your drama.”

When he continued:

“You’re giving me gray hair!”

With Pa Pa on going out in the cold:

Pa Pa: “It’s time to come in, it’s cold and dark out there.”

Savannah: “I thought we were friends.”

With Pa Pa on wearing a jacket:

Pa Pa: “Go put on your jacket.”

Savannah visibly trembling from the cold: “I’m not verrrrry cold.”

My daughter, the comedienne…

Is it even worth going back to bed...

**Final Update** - - - They're home from the ER. They ran some tests, and yes, think that she just gets migraines. I think they were more concerned about the upper respiratory infection and the urinary tract infection that she has. Jeesh, how can one kid have several infections and show no symptoms! The doctors (at the ER) think that the upper respiratory infection triggered the migraine, and the migraine along with the UTI triggered the vomiting. So for now they've put her on some heavy duty antibiotics. I don't know how long she'll have to stay home, but they indicated that she could very well continue to be sick to her stomach for several days.

Thanks again guys for all the advice, prayers and well wishes.

3:11 am - - -I think Olivia has been suffering from migraines. She gets a splitting headache between her eyes, dizziness, nausea and finally sometimes winds up throwing up. Tonight, or this morning rather, she's thrown up at 1:00, 2:00, 3:30, and 4:00. **edit...also 4:50** In addition to that, Savannah joined me and Livi in bed around 3:00. I'm tired...

Man I'm tired...

Anybody have any experience with migraines, and if so, does this sound familiar? I've got to get this kid some help...

This morning I said goodbye to a long time acquaintance.Friend just doesn’t cut it since this ‘acquaintance’ has done nothing but hang all over me…yuck!So goodbye 173…and hello to my new acquaintance, 172.Hopefully that one won’t be hanging all over me for a long time, but will move on quickly.I can’t wait to meet my new best friend 145!!

I know it’s not a weigh in day but I was soooo happy when the scale moved to 172 this morning, so I don’t care!I read somewhere that people who step on the scale each morning lose more weight and keep it off…the trick is not to obsess about the numbers.

More plumbing problems…this time it’s not me but our kitchen sink.I came home yesterday to my dear hubby using the plunger on the side with the disposal.Since he wasn’t happy about having to do the job, I did the smart thing and went in the other room.He’s going to rent an auger this morning so he can snake it out…that’ll cost us…but it’s still cheaper than a plumber!

He did do the sweetest thing the other day when I was having all of my own ‘plumbing problems’.He went to WM to pick up a few things we were out of and while he was there, picked up some yogurt and cheese with the probiotic stuff for ‘digestive help’…he’s a keeper!

This past weekend with my nephews went well.They crack me up!On Friday, Butch had picked up Olivia, Jordan (14) and Jared (16) from school.Olivia apparently starts telling this long winded tale about something that happened at school and of course, being a teenage girl, uses the word ‘like’ 4 million times.When she’d finally quit talking, Jordan pipes up and says “How many times did Olivia use the word ‘like’ in that story”.And then he starts humming the theme song from Jeopardy.Olivia sat there giving Jo the evil eye and when he’d finished humming his response was “Like, I don’t know” (in his best valley girl voice).Ha!I guess the sarcastic wit runs in the family!

Trey’s doing well.He’s passed his science benchmark but not the reading.He’s an excellent reader and really fast too, he just doesn’t pick up the idea or theme of what he’s reading because he’s rushing through the story.So tutoring starts in February.

Savannah continues to be a source of hilarity.The weekend before last her ‘thing’ was ‘tanning’ herself in the family room…at night!She laid out the quilt in the middle of the floor, grabbed a mirror and my sunglasses, stripped down to the underwear and laid out…hands under head, beaming at the ceiling fan lights.Occasionally she would breathe that sigh of contentedness and check herself out in the mirror.Crazy kid.This weekend she ran around with an oversized magnifying glass sniffing everyone.Right up in your face sniffing…I’m not really sure where she gets this stuff from.

Work is going great for me and I am hoping to get the permanent position by mid-March.That’s all I’ve got for now folks!Everyone have a great week!!
