Ghosts
By Sleeping at Last

Well, once again I'm in Columbia. I feel like I've been here so much in the past several weeks.  (This is my third time since President's Day.)  But it definitely feels good.  You know what though, I am feeling more and more at home at Wheaton.  I just love it so much up there, and I can't even believe how much God has blessed me there.

Sat night, Jenny, Lauren, Natalie, Lissy and I saw Sleeping At Last at the Metro, and it rocked my face off.  I already liked them, but now I'm seriously in love, and I really need to stop listening to them because I do it all the time.

Can I just tell you what kinda homework I had in between Sunday night and Wednesday morning at 8 am?

2 2-page papers for Political Philosophy

an ungodly amount of Thomas Hobbes to read

Spanish Conversation Midterm

8 page Research paper--research and write

meet with professor

stupid music homework

Young Life (5-10 Monday nights...SO LONG)

Two prospective students visiting Wheaton staying in my ROOM

Jesus

I am pooped.  And I stayed up way late last night with Christopher and Merideth.  I love them!  Now I think I'm going to go spend some QT with Sexy Lexy.

Peace

Merb

Since I'm so good about doing this, I thought I would update you all.

I am sick right now.  And guys, I feel like I have a really low tolerance for pain since I do not normally get sick.  I slept ten hours last night, and then today I took a four hour nap.  I really do not want to get as sick as everyone else!

So, I'm coming home on Friday for 9 days!  Yay for Columbia.  I miss it tons.  AND i'm getting my haircut on Saturday and that's possibly one of my most favorite things to do in the world.

Last night Jenny and I were babysitting for one of our fellow Young Life leaders' kids, and we were running up the driveway, and I slipped and fell on my hands and my knees, and heartful (the opposite of heartless) Jenny turns around and says, "Did you just fall?   GET UP."  " (She was a little stressed about being late.)

Saturday night Josh Rollins walked up to me in SAGA and put a pumpkin pie in my face.  In front of the entire cafeteria.

Last Thursday, Lanzetta and Natalie and I had our own Ferris Bueller's Day off and skipped class to go into Chicago.  It was probably the best day all month.  We went to the Federal Building, went up the Sears Tower, and ate at the Italian Village.  Mer, Jen, Christopher...any other Columbia people, please come visit me!  It will be absolutely amazing.  You won't even know what to do because I will cause you to have so much fun.

Well, my hands are shaking because I don't feel well.  I have to study for political philosophy anyway, so I will catch you homies later.

Love,

Merb

Definition of Platonic Frienship-
1}The tendency of women to develop close friendships with their male acquaintances, thereby pre-emptively eliminating any possibility of a romantic relationship, the result of which is to remove the poor schmuck's heart and shred it
2}The process by which attractive and otherwise eligible women, when faced by proffered declarations of romantic interest by a male acquaintance, destroy the ego and spirit of said acquaintance by declaring that they only want to be "friends."

-Chip Wedgeworth...perhaps in response to a conversation similar to the following:

M (texting Dan Moy): "I have a secret, platonic crush on Dan Moy"
L: "I'm gonna write that on my profile..."
M: "No, Dont. That would be creepy... He probably doesn't know what platonic means..."

Edit
Later that night, after telling Dan the story.  He comes over from talking to his RA
"I found out what platonic means"
"Oh really Dan? What does it mean?"
"It means no sex"

And here is Josh Rollins' version.

Platonic - the adjective describing the process of a girl engaging in a friendship in which she leads a young man on to "enjoy his company" or in other words milk him for her own self esteem. It is important to note that during this interaction the female has no interest in the male except to suck every last drop out of the male's heart.

Oh boys, are we bitter or what else could be going on?

Umm...so Jen, Phil, and I are about to watch the season premier of Alias!!  (We taped it since I didn't get back from Nashville until maybe 8:45 tonight.  But can I just say that Passion was AMAZING!! God is amazing, He's bigger than any of us can imagine!  There were about 12,000 or more college students there, along with John Piper, Beth Moore, Louie Giglio, Matt Redman, David Crowder, Christ Tomlin, and...MATT WERTZ AND DAVE BARNES!!  Jenny Andrews and I got really excited about that!

It was awesome to see Wheaton people too.  Kelsey and her mom came and stayed with my mom and I, and I loved getting to know her mom and experience that stuff with Kels.  Jenny Andrews, Sarah Calicutt, Chip, and Ben were all there also, so it made me not as reluctant to go back to Wheaton because I love the people there so much!  It's just hard to leave Columbia, because I love my home, my fam, and my amigos here so much!

Anyway, I'm gonna go, but I love you all!

Phil, Jules, and I saw Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events last night.  Can I just say amazing?  I absolutely loved it.  Go see it over break!

Today will be filled with Christmas cookies, wrapping last minute presents, and watching old Bartelt home videos...can you guess how funny those are?  Let's just say, they make "look at my bow" look sad.  Oh boy!

Well, Aaron's been pretty grumpy lately, which is obnoxious, because he's usually the one that keeps everyone cheerful in this familia.  Hmm...

I cleaned my room, and sort of unpacked, YAY for Meredith!

Have an awesome Christmas Eve everyone!  Ash, I look forward to talking to you tomorrow at 2 to compare presents, just like every year.

Love

Merb
