"Now the king of Aram had ordered his thirty-two chariot
commanders, "Do not fight with anyone, small or great,
except the king of Israel." When the chariot commanders
saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, "Surely this is the king of
Israel." So they turned to attack him, but when Jehoshaphat
cried out, the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king
of Israel and stopped pursuing him.

But someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel
between the sections of his armor."

~1 Kings 22:31-34

I love this passage so much. Granted, it's kind of gruesome and
points out that we can't escape death and judgment, but instead
of striking fear in me, it gives me such comfort! Ahab tries to disguise
himself to avoid his death (see verse 22:30) and from a purely human
perspective that would have been sufficient. The king of Aram's
soldiers didn't recognize him, and consequently, they weren't going to
kill him. But God's Will cannot be stopped by man's blindness.
"...Someone drew his bow at random and hit the king of Israel..." God's
Will
will be done. In spite of us.

Wow... i feel kind of badly about the fact that I have completely
neglected xanga in recent months... I mean, I know why I did.

1. I was fairly certain that nobody actually used xanga anymore
2. I write my blogs on facebook these days...

but xanga's so
lovely.. I think I might just make a come-back...
but I'm supposed
to be studying so... tata!

“See, the Lord has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur,
of the tribe of Judah, and he has filled him with the Spirit of God,
with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts…” (Exo: 35:31)

Wow… I love it. We generally acknowledge that our skills and abilities
are gifts from God but do we generally think of our ability to do them
as being filled with the Spirit of God?... So neat…

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,
And to stop the muscle that makes us confess.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

You fasten my seatbelt because it is the law.
In your two ton death trap I finally saw.
A piece of love in your face that bathed me in regret.
Then you drove me to places I'll never forget.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

Isn't it incredible how completely and entirely God is in control?

Seriously now. I've been reading through Exodus, and let
me tell you, if you want a book to just rub it in your face how
completely in control God really is, Exodus is an excellent
book to pick. Not only does it contain everything about
God's provision for the Israelites and, consequently, God's
complete power over nature, but it also shows God's control
over the hearts of men.
We like to delude ourselves by thinking that we at least
have control over our own hearts, but NO. It is mentioned
time and time again that God changed the Egyptians' hearts
I.E.
"The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward
the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt
by Pharaoh's officials and by the people (Exo. 11: 3)." "The
Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the
people, and they gave them what they asked for (Exo. 12:36)."
Also, it is pointed out several times that God hardened
Pharaoh's heart. Pharaoh himself didn't just decide to harden
it. His heart was hardened multiple times by an act of God.
It's interesting to think about, isn't it? God is sovereign
over all things. He even has power over the hearts of men.
He can make people "favorably disposed" to you, and He can
harden people's hearts toward you.

    I'm sorry for the lack of eloquence in which this was written;
I'm afraid I didn't have much time to write it.. I just wanted to
get it out.

Because really, isn't it a great comfort?
