| | Isn't it incredible how completely and entirely God is in control?
Seriously now. I've been reading through Exodus, and let me tell you, if you want a book to just rub it in your face how completely in control God really is, Exodus is an excellent book to pick . Not only does it contain everything about God's provision for the Israelites and, consequently, God's complete power over nature, but it also shows God's control over the hearts of men. We like to delude ourselves by thinking that we at least have control over our own hearts, but NO. It is mentioned time and time again that God changed the Egyptians' hearts I.E. "The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and Moses himself was highly regarded in Egypt by Pharaoh's officials and by the people (Exo. 11: 3)." "The Lord made the Egyptians favorably disposed toward the people, and they gave them what they asked for (Exo. 12:36)." Also, it is pointed out several times that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. Pharaoh himself didn't just decide to harden it. His heart was hardened multiple times by an act of God. It's interesting to think about, isn't it? God is sovereign over all things. He even has power over the hearts of men. He can make people "favorably disposed" to you, and He can harden people's hearts toward you.
I'm sorry for the lack of eloquence in which this was written; I'm afraid I didn't have much time to write it.. I just wanted to get it out.
Because really, isn't it a great comfort?
