There is a (seeming) paradox in religion that I've only talked about once.  Then again, I can't even remember if there was any actual conversation afterwards.  I won't state my theory about "the most controversial verse," but I'll quote the verse here as it is written in my Bible.

"And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven."
- Luke 12:10

So what's the paradox that you're referring to?

Religion is primarily about emotion, not thought! Being contemptuous of the Holy Spirit is worse than saying "I don't believe in God."

Why do people turn to religion? Is it for "salvation" or is it for "emotional support?" Perhaps both?
