  • If I Had A Nickle

Yesterday I had to drive to Indiana to one of our plants.  It's a 2.5 hour drive or so, so it gives me quite a bit of time to think.  I had been thinking how it's been a really long time since I have written a song.  By a "really long time", I mean almost 6 months.  That's probably the longest stretch I have ever gone without writing a new song.

Anyway, I had a thought, perhaps for a new song.

If I had a nickle for every debt that Jesus paid on the cross just for me, then I'd be able to buy anything at all in this world that I wanted, but there is one thing I still couldn't do.  I wouldn't be able to pay back even one small portion of what he paid for me.

    I dunno.  Just a thought.

  • Photos From July 4th Visit

I have a feeling someone is standing behind me.  And something tells me that they are giving me "Moose Ears."

Daddy's Little Princesses sleeping in his chair.  They are SO quiet in this rarely seen form!

Something tells me that they may not really be sleeping.

    Yeah. I didn't think so!

Daddy!  I want a Nintendo DS like cousin Jeff has!

Playing Lego Indiana Jones.  It's actually quite a fun game.

Cousin Kaitlyn trying to bribe Jeff and Nikki with a pen for some DS time.  "Seriously!  This was my mom's Nintendo DS when she was a kid!  You should check it out!"  Didn't work.

This picture is just too cute for words.  So the words you see that I typed don't really exist in this picture.

They have this fascination with sticking out their tongue for photos.  Such...children.  Daddy NEVER does that. (At least he doesn't post the pictures where he does that)

Daddy is telling them a story about two parents that were adopting two very beautiful red head princesses.  They figured out that the story was likely about them.  They sure do make kids smart these days.

Twisty slides are more fun to climb on then to slide down.

Ok.  I'll slide down now! -Nikki
    See ya, Nikki! -Katie

Ok, let Daddy show you how it's done!

    Can he do it?

    Yes!  Daddy's still got it!

Yes.  Our girls and their new cousins all have Kool-Aid smiles. Though I think our girls' smiles are enhanced by Dorito Powder as well!

Nikki and Daddy waiting for their food at our favorite Mexican restaurant.

Mommy and Katie waiting for their food at their favorite Mexican restaurant.
Haa!  Ok.  It's the same restaurant.

Playing sticky ball at Grandma and Grandpas.

My brother throwing the ball at Katie.

Nikki throwing the ball to my brother.

Katie, throwing the ball over the fence. Kids.

  • Final Visit: The Rest Of The Story

I'm going to keep this short because I am exhausted.  We had a really good time on the rest of the visit.  I will provide pictures later this week.  I'm just too tired to get the camera.

We had our challenges.  Mainly, being parents for the first time.  The girls are very active, that is for sure.  But they really are awesome kids.  We love them so much.

Miss Kim called us tonight and said "Do you have a minute?  I have a little girl that really needs to talk to you."

It was Nikki.  She was crying.  She could hardly talk.  I said "Nikki, what's wrong?"

"I miss you a whole lot" is pretty much all she could get out for a while.

    Yeah.  It's worth it.

    I'm hooked.

I miss my little ankle biters.

  • Final Visit: Day 3

Today I had to drive to Shipshiwana, Indiana to one of my job's plants.  So Rene got to spend the day with the Girls again.  They had so much fun today, and they both did such a good job listening and obeying.  Well, up until dinner.  haha.  But still, it was SO much better today.  Rene gave them something called "Puzzabilities" to work on.  It's these little triangular puzzle pieces kinda like Legos.  You can make bazillions of different things.  Nikki made a really awesome dragonfly and Katie made a turtle.  (They come with guides on making 3 different things, but you can make at least a bazillion more things)

Today, rather than come home, I met Rene and the girls at their new Grandma and Grandpa's house. (My mom and Tom).  Mom and Rene made the girls' favorite dinner:  Macaroni And Cheese.  They really gobbled that up too.  After dinner, Nikki decided her dragonfly had lived it's full life and took it apart and made necklaces and bracelets for each of us.  I told Grandpa that I guess this is what I get to do from now on...be a model for various things they make.  He said "Yep, and that's not all. Wait until hair styling and make up comes along."

All I have to say about that is:  Meep.

  • Final Visit: Day 2: My Birthday

Day 2 was a little more challenging.  I had to work all day, and Rene had the girls all to herself.  They are really trying to adjust to their soon to be new home, but as a result, tend to have a little trouble here and there.  It's completely understandable, but they do need to learn discipline.   We can do this though.

Before I left for work, I slipped on the ice.

Wait a minute, Mr. Gregg...did you say Ice? it's the summer...and it's 90 degrees out? How on Earth did you slip and fall on Ice?

Well let me tell you how.

Apparently, our darling little angels are FASCINATED with the ice maker on the freezer. Apparently, several (read ten or more) ice cubes were on the floor from late last night and proceeded to melt, leaving a virtually non detectable puddle on the brand new tile floor.

    Guess who found it?

    Yep. Me.

So, my knee is all banged up. I pulled a muscle in my back. (I fell on the floor, hitting a counter on the way). Of course, my girls were nowhere to be found. They were upstairs probably hoping for asylum or something.

    *shakes head*

    Silly girls.

After I got home from work, we went to our weight watcher's meeting and took them to meet our friends there.  Our friends were so excited to meet the girls!  The girls did SO well there as well.  They even got to weigh in.  They are 69.4 and 69.8 lbs!

After that we went to Fazoli's for dinner and met Grandma and Grandpa.  Before Grandma and Grandpa got there, everything was going really well until one of the customers (a man at least 30 years old or so) decided it was completely acceptable to belch at the top of his lungs.  That was all it took and girls just went nuts, laughing, giggling, burping themselves.  We reminded them about the "In Public" rule, and they did stop the burping, but it was pretty much all she wrote for other things.  They are 8 though, what do you expect?   They did a real good job eating their dinner though.  They are definitely good eaters.   They are so high energy that they burn that food off really quick.

After dinner, we all went to a place called Lil' Shack, which is an ice cream place.  This place is really awesome because not only are their prices pretty good, they have an ice cream called "Wow Cow" which is only 9 calories an ounce.  It's all natural.  No artificial flavorings.  No fake sugars.  But better than regular ice cream.  The girls each got a cone and gobbled the whole things up.

We came home and they each gave me their presents that they got me for my birthday.  Nikki got me a watch!  I needed a watch.  I haven't had a watch in years.  Rene says she picked that out ALL ON HER OWN!  Rene didn't even help her decide!  Katie got me a really huge beach towel of Pirates Of The Carribean.  It's really big.  On the card Nikki got me, she wrote an apology for acting up and for putting ice on the floor.  That was really sweet.  It's hard, no impossible, to stay upset.

We did our devotions and then went to bed.  They each prayed and asked God to help them to listen and obey today.  So, we hope they remember that!

Hey Gregg! Well, he's sort of at training. He's at Solidworks World, the conference for the software he uses... It's where they reveal all the fun new stuff they're doing with it this year, and there are some classes he's taking, so it's sort of training. He's going to have a great time, but it kind
