I assume that the writers I am studying are always much smarter than me.

If they were not,

why were I wasting my time by studying them?

If I see a mistake in their arguments,

I suppose they saw it too and must have dealt with it.

But where?

So I should look for their way out,

not mine.

Sometimes their way out was historial:

in their day the question need not be raised;

or would not arise or be fruitfully discussed.

Or there is a part of the text I have overlooked,

or have not read.
