  • I've built a new blog. I'm more than halfway through my twentieth year. It's time. But no more of this not using Xanga business. Xanga rocks.

Here you go people. Read. Subscribe. Shower with e-loves.

    Airy Cages

    Cue mournful sitar music.

  • Just because I can, here's a couple more of the poetry lines added onto one of the previous, formatted into a fabulous masterpiece:

squirrels love raging upon bongos together
live as a little baby mud squirrel
    where is my bongo nest

    I love it.

I have a couple of good habits cultivated from being at L'Abri, unfortunately, I've also aquired a taste for milk and sugar in my tea. Two sugar. *sheepish*

Oh, yes, by the way, I'm home... Still a bit messed up about the time of day, of course, but adjusting pretty well. Doling out chocolate in carefully measured rations to the family. Eying my beautiful jars of mutarde with delight. Living out of my suitcase because I haven't unpacked yet. Ah, travel.

I have a nasty little hangnail that's plaguing me.

I did a book order at about four thirty this morning:

    The Book of Common Prayer
Christina Rossetti - The Complete Poems
    Christina Rossetti - Sing Song
    Complete Nonsense of Edward Lear

    G.K. Chesterton - Orthodoxy
G.K. Chesterton - The Man Who Was Thursday
Poems and Prose of Gerard Manley Hopkins
C.S. Lewis - The Chronicles of Narnia (some lovely little paperbacks that travel beautifully)
Phillipa Pearce - Tom's Midnight Garden

I'm going to buy a laptop instead of a car. Not an Apple. Don't anyone hurt me.

I do believe I shall put in my notice at the nursing home.

More developments may or may not be disclosed in the near future.

  • Poetry magnets + human imagination = Pure Genius

    And I quote:

"Squirrels love raging upon bongos together."
"I fed my sister to magic garden turtle."

    Oh yeah.

Read The Silver Chair today. It's not like I haven't read it before, but it was good to read again! Puddleglum has to be one of the best characters in the history of literature. As I was reading it, I thought to myself, "Wow, I don't think any of my younger siblings have heard the Chronicles of Narnia." It made me feel like the most awfullest big sis in the world, not to have read Narnia to the littles. Then I calmed down a bit and remember that we have read Charlotte's Web and Because of Winn-Dixie and any number of Beatrix Potter's and decided that maybe self-flagellation was not in order just yet.

I've had an ungodly amount of sugar in my tea over the last month. It's ridiculous, really it is. But I had some vanilla black tea that some other girl left behind, and it's absolutely marvelous with sugar. Purr.

  • Only a few days left at L'Abri. I'm sad in part, but glad to be going home.

There are many things I hope will be different when I get back: not entirely so, but little changes. I've learned that I can't change everything at once, and that I can change nothing of my own volition.

I haven't read anything profound here, per se. It's more like everything I knew I had to do and be was brought to light at last, and I simply decided to quit ignoring my faults and work toward something else.

In eight minutes it will be my half birthday. Nineteen and a half years old. It's almost like being halfway through a giant book like War and Peace, and realizing that the last half is going to either drag away for ages, or go by so fast that you'll hardly know what's happened.

I haven't got anything momentous to say, but it is nice to write without worrying about how it's looking. :)
