Xanga-FrontDoor613

Welcome.  Now that I've finally finished all the unpacking and nailing up of pictures, I'm ready to give you the nickel tour of my new house.

Xanga-Entry589

This is my entry way.  I haven't decided yet whether to use the rug or just let the tile "speak for itself". Your thoughts?

Xanga-PianoRoom595

Immediately on the right after entering the house is the piano room.  I am enjoying playing it any time I want to very much.  While I was in the apartment, the piano was in a building a block away from me so I didn't end up playing it nearly as much.  It's good to be home.

Xanga-LivingRoom591

Then on through the entry way leads to the living room.  I haven't spent a great deal of time "living" in it yet, because I've been so busy getting the house settled, but I plan to use it and enjoy it a lot.

Xanga-LivingRoom636

Here is another view of the living room.

Xanga-Kitchen583

Next to the living room is my wonderful kitchen.  I've never had an island before, and I had the carpenter give me access to the stuff from both sides of the island.  Wonderful storage and a terrific work surface.

Xanga-Kitchen640

This view shows the same island and the other side of the kitchen.

Xanga-Dining585

And at the end of the kitchen on the back side of the house is my breakfast room.

Xanga-Hallway606

Then back through the kitchen and into the entry way and we can head down the hallway that leads to the guest bedroom, guest bath and my office.

Xanga-GuestBedRm608

Down at the end of the hallway and to the right is the guest bedroom.  .

Xanga-GuestBathRm610

And right next to the guest bedroom is the guest bathroom.  It's right at the end of the hallway.

Xanga-Niche609

I had my builder add this little niche in the wall.  It's visible just as you exit the guest bathroom.

Xanga-Office623

And my office is at the end of that same hallway, only you turn to the left.  This is a room that I'll be spending a lot of time in, so that's why I chose the back bedroom rather than the front bedroom.  I wanted to be able to sit at my computer and look out at my pretty flowers (once I get them planted) in the back yard.

Now, if we'll retrace our steps back through the hallway to the opposite end of the house, we can view the master bedroom.

Xanga-MasterBath634

And finally to the master bath.  I love it . . .

Xanga-MasterBath627

and ESPECIALLY my deep soaker tub.  At the end of the day I can enjoy a long luxurious hot bath and soak away all those aches and pains before going to bed.

I hope you have enjoyed the tour of my new home.  This will be the LAST post to "Miss Chris's New House".  I'll be going back to only posting to "Christine" at http://www.xanga.com/Christine

XANGAMyHouse505

And here is the finished product.  Home Sweet Home. I'm all moved in now and am working on both the back yard AND unpacking.  We (Alice and I) work on the brick sidewalk during the afternoon hours and then after it's dark I busy myself unpacking a few more boxes each night.  I still have about 60 in the garage.  Where am I going to put what all is in them? I can tell you that I've already decided that another garage sale is in order.  That will be some time in the spring.

XANGAYardWork475

Alice and I got a good start on the sidewalks today.  Here I am raking the sand that will be under the bricks. Hopefully we'll get to start laying bricks down tomorrow.

XANGAYardWork468

And here's Alice watering the new sod.  We didn't want to use the automatic sprinkler system, because we didn't want the sidewalk areas wet or we'd be working in mud. . . . hence the hand watering.

I bet we both sleep well tonight.

I'm IN the house.  YEAH!!!   I actually got moved into the house (just the stuff from my apartment) on Monday and due to a series of unfortunate circumstances, had to wait until today for the rest of my stuff. . . that stuff that's been in storage for 6 months.  It's like Christmas already.  I have stuff I had completely forgotten about.  Truth be told it's too MUCH stuff.  I feel another garage sale coming on . . . way down the road.

And thanks to Alice (only 3 doors away) we got my computer up and running tonight.  I couldn't set it up until my computer furniture arrived.  No pictures yet, but rest assured there will be plenty to follow.  I'm bushed so talk to you later.

XANGA12-1-06HouseWithSnow7445

I closed on the house today, but won't get to move in until Monday.  There are still a few items to be finished on the outside of the house, but those won't be finished for a few days . . . they CAN'T be done in freezing weather, so we'll be content to wait. But at least I'll be IN the house and getting settled.  And believe me, I can make my builder's life miserable if he doesn't finish them as promised as soon as the weather warms up to the 40's or 50's.  I can be a nag if it's needed.
