Wow, check this out! Technology amazes me... but our society's unbelief dumfounds me even more.

"For You formed my inward parts; you wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well."   Psalm 139:13-14

Please, please, please go vote!

For the past two years, I've been attempting to read through the bible. I had intended to read from Genesis to Revelation in two years, but, because I think too much, a chapter or two a day is all I've been able to muster. So I'm currently in Ezekiel, which has been interesting but rather dry reading.

That said, I have really enjoyed reading Israel's history. I've been especially impressed with the myriad of similarities between the United States and Israel. Now, in the books of Jeremiah and Ezekiel, as I read of the terrible destruction which befell the Israelite nation, I tremble at the thought of what our country deserves in light of our prideful and stubborn disobedience. Many times, one verse embedded in a long historical narrative will reach out and grab my attention. Yesterday, I found one of those pointed verses.

Ezekiel 22:30 "I searched for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand in the gap before Me for the land, so that I would not destroy it; but I found no one."

Wow. How sad is that?! We all know that the solution to our amoral society is found in Jesus Christ. But, speaking practically, what does that mean? The warriors, the ones to stand in the gap, to show His love to our floundering nation... it's our job.

I have been pleading with God to spare us what we deserve in today's election. However, as much as it pains me to admit it, politics do not provide the ultimate answer. Moral leadership is so important (there's a lot of truth to the statement, "as the leadership goes, so goes the nation"), but even more important is the condition of the hearts of the American people. So, please vote. Keep moral leaders who provide good examples and promote good policies in office. But when the results are in tomorrow, don't give up on our nation. Stand in the gap; represent Jesus to those whom you come in contact with on a daily basis. That, my friends, is how we'll affect a lasting change for Christ.

Please note the incredibly astute, composed, and scholarly appearance of a certain Zephaniah Yoder.

This made me laugh... hard!

If you want to know his real identity, look for a familiar name in the credits.

I have a dilemma. Many exciting and interesting things have happened at work, things I would love to be able to share with you all. But there exists a law entitled HIPPA, which precludes me from sharing anything specifically related to my patient’s care. In accordance with the spirit of the law, I feel that I should be able to relay general stories and scenarios, so long as my descriptions cannot be directly traced to a specific patient. But I’m just not sure I want to jeopardize my license to entertain the masses. That said, lastnight I transfused a unit of packed red blood cells (PRBC’s) into an elderly patient. I was watching for the typical signs of fluid overload, listening for fluid accumulation in her lungs, every hour. About halfway into the infusion, I discerned some minor audible wheezes. Just to make sure that my ears weren’t playing tricks on me, I held my breath and leaned down close to her head. The wheezing stopped. I thought that was weird, until I released my breath, and the wheezes commenced again.

Just out of curiosity, if you could envision me in a career, what would it be?
