| Not that I condone it..But drunk blogging is kinda fun.
So, things a changing, now that I have this fabulous work contract, which the job doesn't even start for another month, I am free to begin searching for a new home. Yes, if you review this blog's history, you will see we move a lot, but for the first time, no the last time, we are talking about buying. Husband and I were (sort of *I'll explain later) pre-qualified for a mortgage, a hefty one at that.
The last week has been a bit of a whirlwind in that I got this awesome new job after nearly 4 months of sitting on my ass, and now we can buy a house. In Amsterdam. Maybe you don't know the weight of those words, but let me tell you, not everyone can live (t)here. And after all these years of visiting, walking and looking, we can afford to live in the center.
Now, I don't want to explain what 'center' means, but let me tell you, you have to be special. Not like Sex and the City Manhattan special. More special. Because Amsterdam is actually smaller and harder to come by.

Wait, now I sound arrogant. I will stop. I will only say this. When you see the places are viewing, you will be jealous. Jealous bitches! And...

I'm done drunk blogging now. | | |

I have signed a magical work contract today. After much debate, but not much thought, I have accepted a position...so back into the library publishing world I shall flutter. I think it's going to be awesome. I just sat around watching Project Runway and Oprah for 3.5 months, so I think anything would be awesome right now. But I highly recommend it to anyone. If you hate your job/life/partner/peen, then take off for a few months, live off the land, and take a deep breath. After this, clarity will come calling.
Why, you may ask, did I take this job (besides that it pays an obscene amount and I'll be working with Glamgirl)? Well, 38. That's why.
I start with 38 days of vacation.
Plus national holidays.
Plus the week between Christmas and New Year's off.
Add it up, and I'm out of the office paid for nearly 3 months of the year. This could never happen in America.
God bless the Dutch employment model.
Happy FRIDAY!

| Mika, and other news.Last night we saw Mika in concert in Amsterdam. It was an outdoor festival-style show and since it rained for 48 hours pretty much non-stop before that, we went prepared with hooded rain coats and everything. Now, I heard 'Grace Kelly' so many times last summer I really thought I'd puke if I heard anymore. Then with the single 'Relax' came out, Mika caught my good side (I don't really have a good side). Anyway, Husband loved the dude from the start. Husband likes corny music.

Well, let me just say, for being what it was, the Mika show was one of the best concerts I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. Husband said, "Only Madonna is ever better than this." It's true. Mika is a real show-man. Me gives him much props. Sam Sparro opened, and he's excellent. Prince meets Justin T. meets RuPaul. Yeah, that's how I'd describe him.
In other news, today I am meeting with a newspaper for a final interview and discussion of their offer. Tomorrow I am meeting with a publisher for a final interview and discussion of their offer. It's not a really tough decision which one I will likely take, but I do have to at least think it over. One is a funky jeans and t-shirt biking around Amsterdam canals all day kind of job. The other is dressy, driving to work fun but more serious kind of job. Let's just say, one pays 'normal' and the other pays 'high'. Money ain't everything, but having a lot of money sure is great!
And finally, in the coming week or two we will say goodbye to the Saab.

I like the car, but I don't love it. It was certainly a fantastic wedding gift from the parents, but I am making a green decision. This is what I will likely be exchanging it for:

Yep, a Smart. You all in the US probably won't be that familiar with it, since it's just reaching you, but here it's very common. Especially in big cities. Especially in big cities with really tiny streets, like Amsterdam. So, for parking's sake, for fuel efficiency, and the fact that cars are taxed on weight here, I'm going for it. And I will throw this in. Those of you in the US who are griping about paying more than $4 a gallon for gas, consider that I am paying closer to $7.60 a gallon and have been for years. The Saab costs me about $600 a month in petrol, the Smart will be about $170. That's a pretty big difference. Especially when you are unemployed. There's plenty of room for Husband, myself and Daughter. And now I won't have to cart any housemates to or from the airport anymore. Oh, did I say that out loud?Yay all around!
One other thing I will share with you. This logo I found for a chiropractor. I wonder if this has given them the effect in gaining clients they were hoping for.

Oh yeah, and because I just found this while searching for my pictures on Husband's computer I will share him with you as well.

I'll let you all know which job I choose. Then I will show you pictures of me in my McDonalds uniform and you will all say, "That crazy Anthony, he's so funny."

| And then He rested.7 interviews in two days. I'm so tired. I quit smoking again and I regret that now. I won't regret it if I stay quit of course.
Yawn. Ok, that was all.
