Desert Song - Brooke Fraser

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides

This my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flame

I will bring praise, I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

This is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

I will bring praise, I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice, I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

This is my prayer in the harvest
When favour and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow.

Healer - Mike Guglielmucci
You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my disease

I trust in You
I trust in You

I believe You're my Healer
I believe You are all I need
I believe You're my Portion
I believe You're more than enough for me
Jesus You're all I need

My Healer, You're my Healer

Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
Nothing is impossible for You
You hold my world in Your hands

i never knew how beautiful our campus was at night.

recently, we made a video for our ministry's banquet, and it talked about finding God in the things all around us in our normal, daily, routine life.  i've been walking home from school this whole last year, and even after being here for the last 3 years, ive never seen this side of our school.  or i guess i never took the chance to notice.  the wind was blowing really hard, and all the trees were shaking, branches whipping all around. but seriously, it was like God was whispering to me through the winds, and the trees were dancing in his presence.  as i walked out to the IM fields, i looked up to see the stars shining down.  the IM field is the only place on campus where you can lay down and see nothing but sky.  though there were lights from buildings, i could see so many of the stars, and all i could think was how enormous and infinite the night sky looked.  all i could do was smile, know that our God is infinitely bigger than all that; that he had created all of this, and it was good.  it was kinda funny, because i wanted to walk home listening to music, but my ipod ran out of batteries.. but just walking in silence, and looking at the beauty that lay around me was one of the best moments this year.

MUTE. sometimes we just need to turn off the music, take a step back, and look at all the beautiful things around us.  i wonder how many moments like this i missed; how many times i just walked home, so into my music or my thoughts, when i could have just looked up and around me, to notice the glory and majesty of God that's so real and tangible.   i dunno about you, but i struggle with the idea of God, and how he seems so intangible.  just a dood that we talk about, but we cant see or feel him.

SMILE. next time you take a walk through your campus, workplace, park, library, wherever, i encourage you to just take off your headphones, and take a good look around you.  how can you deny that God's real and living and shining in all the things around you.  seriously, just take a good look, and trust me, you wont be able to help but just smile at the beauty of the normal things; things that you would have missed if you were too busy listening to your music, thinking about that test you need to take/just took, wondering what you're going to eat, or maybe just thinking about how cool you are.  give it a shot, you wont be disappointed.

God, would you destroy me.. just blow me up into smithereens and just build me back up into who you want me to be.  being me is kinda too painful.  Thanks.

Today, millions of lives around the world are in the grip of injustice.

More children, women and men are held in slavery right now than over the course of the entire trans-Atlantic slave trade: Millions toil in bondage, their work and even their bodies the property of an owner.

Trafficking in humans generates profits in excess of 12 billion dollars a year for those who, by force and deception, sell human lives into slavery and sexual bondage. More than 2 million children are trapped in forced prostitution. The AIDS pandemic continues to rage, and the oppression of trafficking victims in the global sex trade contributes to the disease’s spread.

In many countries around the world, pedophiles find that they can sexually violate children with impunity. And though police should be protectors, in many nations, their presence is a source of insecurity for the poor. Suspects can be held interminably before trials, imprisoned for crimes they did not commit.

The land rights of women are violated on a massive scale worldwide, but with particular ferocity in Africa, leaving widows and other women in vulnerable positions unable to care for themselves or their children. Around the world, women suffer the double indignity of rape and seeing their perpetrators face no consequences for crimes of sexual violence.

Often lacking access to their own justice systems and unable to protect themselves or their families from those more powerful, it is overwhelmingly the poor who bear the burden of these abuses.

-International Justice Mission

When can we stop thinking about just ourselves and stand for those who cannot speak up for themselves?  When is it time to look past the deceitful beauties the world offers and see the corroding face beneath it all?  When is it time for us to take a stand and say no to the injustices of this world?  There is too much talk today: too much empty and insincere talk. The time to stand and act is NOW.  Don't let the world deceive by saying you don't have time because time is something we'll never have.  There are people out there who aren't dying but wish they were dead, people who live in a nightmare they cant wake up from.  There something we can do about it.  Nows the time to take a stand and do what is right.

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees...you have neglected the more important matters of the law-JUSTICE, mercy, and faithfulness."
Matthew 23:23

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of those who are destitute.  Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.
Proverbs 31:7-8

Embracing Accusations -Shane and Shane

Father of lies, coming to steal kill and destroy
All my hopes of being good enough
I hear him saying, “cursed are the ones who can’t abide”

He’s right, halleluia, he’s right
The devil is preaching the song of the redeemed
That I am cursed and gone astray
I cannot gain salvation
Embracing accusation

Could the father of lies be telling the truth of
God to me tonight?
That if the penalty of sin is death, then death is mine
I hear him saying, “cursed are the ones who can’t abide”

The devil’s singing over me an age old song
That I am cursed and gone astray
Singing the first verse so conveniently over me
He’s forgotten the refrain.

JESUS SAVES!!!

All who rely on observing the law are under a curse, for it is written “cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.”
Galatians 3:10

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written “cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.”
Galatians 3:13

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
Galatians 3:23-24

Lets get back to the basics.

Jesus Saves.

"Look at the nations and
        watch-
    and be utterly amazed.
For I am going to do something
       in your days
    that you would not believe,
    even if you were told"
          Habakkuk 1:5

For the revelation awaits an
       appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
it will certainly come and will
          not delay.
        Habakkuk 2:3

LORD, I have heard of your
       Fame;
I stand in awe of your deeds,
       O LORD.
Renew them in our day,
    in our time make them
          known;
    in wrath remember mercy.
        Habakkuk 3:2

Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the
          vines,
   though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the
          pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my
          Savior.
The Sovereign LORD is my
       strength;
he makes my feet like the feet
       of a deer,
he enables me to go on the
       heights.
    Habakkuk 3:17-19

Dang, i used to think the old testament was hecka boring and sleep inducing, but its so intense and fill with so many of God's promises. I just read this book and i freaking love it.  basically babylonians came and pwned israel and the author is seeing all the crazy things that are happening, and hes crying out to God and asking why this is happening.  The book is made up of complaints and then Gods answers, and i think it gave me a glimpse of how much bigger Gods purposes and plans are than our own.  God promises to do something CRAZY in our generation, something so crazy that we wouldnt believe it even if someone told us what that was.  how amazing is that? i cant even comprehend what that might be.  And maybe some of us are thinking, 'when is God going to do his thing because i dont want to wait anymore', and God tells us to wait for it.  though it might take some time, Gods timing is perfect. it WILL come and will NOT delay.  wow what an awesome and crazy promise.  i think i can read this book over and over and just be blown away each time.  then at the end, the author, whos been complaining this whole time, turns around and turns and falls before the Lord.  He admits that God alone is his savior and all he has.  Though all things are blown upside down, the author has chosen to rejoice in Him and trust in His awesome promises.  Even in the end, the author confesses that its not by his own strength that he can carry on, but only through Gods strength that he can go forward.
So i guess my challenge is, in the face of our challenges, struggles, hardships, finals, papers, whatever we are going through, can we trust in our God who saves, who has a divine purpose for us, who never delays, and rejoice in Him?  He promises to give us the strength to go the heights and overcome all our hardships.  Lets trust in that.

btw hillsong has done it again with saviour king. go get it if you have not.
