  • FAIL #2 and BBQ Nachos

So two Thursdays ago (june 26th) Jon and Daniel Shinabarger and I got on a train with amplifiers and a bass guitar and a saxaphone, headed towards Chicago, and got off at Dee Road. We met Jon's firend J-Lo and rode with him to Bradley, IL to where Jon's girlfriend Amy lives.
We set up musical equipment in her living room and all day Friday (from 10am to about 5:30pm) practiced jazz music. We then packed everything up and went to Amy's cousins restaurant in Kankakee. Her cousin Bull owns a BBQ joint called "Bull's PitSmoked BBQ"
It is home to the finest BBQ food I have ever had the pleasure to dine on.
BBQ Nachos. Only one word can describe them. FREAKINGOOD!!!
Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, and Nacho Cheese on home made tortilla chips. I crave them so bad right now.
Anyway, we played jazz music at Bull's restaurant for roughly three hours.
i was given the honor of singing Mac the Knife and playing bass for the evening.
when it was all said and done, i spent $5.00 on a train ticked and made $52.50 from the gig.
    What an awesome freaking weekend.

Monday night (well actually Monday afternoon, but night in London) Coldplay played the opening concert of their Viva La Vida Tour, at the Brixton Academy in London. The Concert and hilarious interview (with imitations of Flight of the Conchords) is available to stream here. You need Real Player i believe, if you are on a Mac or Windows Media for the rest of you. For those of you who are not going to listen, here is the set list from the night.

    Life In Technicolor
    Violet Hill
    Clocks
    In My Place
    Viva La Vida
    Chinese Sleep Chant
God Put a Smile Upon Your Face
    42
    Square One
    Trouble
    Lost!
    Strawberry Swing

    (The Balcony Set)
    Yellow
A Song sung by the Drummer (i don't know the title)

    (Encore)
    Fix You
    Lovers In Japan

All In all i think this is an awesome set, and the show sounded amazing. I am excited to see them in July. There are still tickets available for Wednesdays show, while Tuesdays show goes on sale this Saturday at noon.
The Radio interview is interesting. Chris Martin (the lead singer) talked about the last song on the album, "Death and All His Friends" and how it is a call to finish the race we are running. To fight against death, and feeling down about your life. My favorite lyric on the entire album happens top be in that song.
"I don't want to battle from beginning to end, I don't want a cycle of recycled revenge, I don't want to follow death and all of his friends"
