Wearing Dresses and Skirts - Day One (Thursday)

There have been many, in the blogsphere, who have challenged ladies to wear their dresses and take pictures of them doing their day to day tasks in them.  I have so enjoyed reading up on the comments, questions asked and responses...it shows me that ladies are trying to go back to being modest and feminine.

I love wearing skirts and dresses!  I am a true girlie girl at heart. I just love how skirts and dresses make you just want to float.  If you are one who wears pants -- notice the next time you wear a skirt and how all of a sudden your walk starts to change along with the way you carry yourself.  Strange but true.  I also love that my husband loves to see me in skirts and that he takes extra care when he is around me -- as if I am a delicate flower to be handled gently -- and you know what?   I love being that lady for him.

So I thought I too would join in as well and share with you my week of wearing dresses.

Cooking  some lunch for my hungry crew - Something else I have been loving here lately is aprons.  Before moving up to Kentucky I had purchased a few vintage aprons at an antique shop and have fallen in love with them.  Not only do they have a practical side to them by protecting your clothing but the fun is how it just sets the tone for what I'm doing in my day.  Call me Betty Crocker or June Cleaver if you want but...

I love my aprons!

Doing my House Blessing - Normally I do this on Mondays but this has been a busy week for Blaine and I.  We have been working on the Mar/Apr issue of the magazine so I had to shift my days a bit.  I did continue with my spritzing and basics until I knew I could get to blessing our home.  Here I'm cleaning the sink...

...with the most adorable apron!  Don't knock it till you try it!  Magic happens when that apron goes on!

Cleaning the microwave - Man!  What a serious look on my face!  Must of been some spot!  You can also see where we are half way with painting the kitchen.  I'm not sure if you can see the difference in color but I can't wait for us to finish the rest in the warmer shade of yellow.

Cleaning the bathroom - This, I must say, is my least favorite job but it has to be done.

Vacuuming - Most of the floors in this house is carpeted so this vacuum gets put to good use.  I have a method to my house blessing.  First I clean the kitchen and then I move to the bathrooms.  From there I vacuum and lastly dust.

By the time I get done vacuuming, especially the stairs...I've had quite the work out!  Many complain about having stairs in their house - but not me!  I love the fact that I can exercise my legs by going up and down and fighting with the vacuum cleaner on the stairs, well...this just adds to my mini workout!

Dusting - Dusting follows right behind cleaning toilets as my least favorite tasks but...

... I must say I love how the furniture and woodwork looks after I'm done and I'm always glad I did it.

Whew!  I'm ready for a coffee break!

Here are a few of Candy's articles on dressing modestly and feminine along with some links to others who have shared pictures of their week in dresses.  There are also links to more articles regarding dressing from our sister site LAF

If you want to join in on taking pictures of your week in dresses/skirts...let me know and I will post your blog to give other ladies ideas and encouragement. (Added Note:   I have posted the rest of the days below.)

Love and God's Blessings,

Catherine

Thanks for sharing this.  Just this afternoon I was thinking some of the same thoughts.  Where do you buy your dresses or skirts?  I have alot of trouble finding anything nice around our area and thought you might have some ideas on where to look either online or when I go out of town to shop.  Have a great night and God bless!  ~Jen

PS-  You have a lovely home!  So beautiful!  Love the stairs.

I've worn dresses/skirts exclusively for about 10 years now and it's been ok.  I'm not a girlie girl but it's harder to act like a total scrounge if you're in a dress.  And I do everything I used to do (including cleaning gutters) in pants.  Just more carefully.

OK....I'm thinking that this is a little weird.  I enjoy throwing on jeans and a sweater in the winter or shorts and a tank in the summer.  This doesn't mean that I don't feel sexy for feminine when I do it because I always try to choose things that look the part....like they're being worn by a woman of good taste.  If you guys want to do this.....that's your choice.  I dont' think I'll join you however.  :)

You are so pretty!  I wish I looked that good when I clean my house!!   Ok, this is a weird question, but what kind of vacuum cleaner do you have?

I love that you posted this today.  My friends and I always talk about how we wish we still lived in the 1950's where women wore dresses and aprons while cleaning!  It's a lovely idea, and I'd love to join you, unfortunately, however, I don't have a digital camera...but keep up the good posts, I love them!

Giggling at ebeth's comment...

If you read through the links Candy has you will understand a bit more as the to whys.  I love skirts and dresses and I think many ladies are not only going back to dressing more feminine and modestly but I think we are so tired of seeing the bare it all styles that are out there.  The questions have been how do I do my day to day tasks in a skirt?!  Ladies did this before - just showing that it can be done.

Weird?!  Maybe but I'm not one to do things like everyone else.  :O)

Hooray for dresses! We also have a bunch of aprons from the 50's(and a dress, too, lol), and they are such fun!` I have been dresses only for a few years, and I'll never think of going back!
I echo the others-your house is absolutely gorgeous, especially the stairs!!

Thank you for being such an encouragement to other ladies! Feminine dressing really does affect so many aspects of our lives, and it's a way of life that, in my humble opinion, women would do well to return to!

I had not always worn skirts exclusively, but began to after studying the Bible on such matters and after meeting my husband. I'll have to find some cute aprons and give those a try!

Even though my daughter is only 10 months old, I want to teach her feminine and modest ways as she grows into a little young lady, so she can honor God and bless the heart of her future husband.

Thanks again for being true to what is in your heart, and sharing it in such a positive way!Blessings, Heather

I love the skirt!  I'm not a daily skirt/dress wearer at this point - mainly because the dresses I have are too dressy (and summery) for daily wear.  I'm hoping to pick up some more casual skirts soon.

It was also nice to see pictures of your house - you have a beautiful home!

I love all of the pics, Cat!

Now, as for myself wearing skirts of dresses ... when I was thinner I didn't mind it [kind of liked it in fact] but ... until I lose weight, I can't see me wearing them again [I look like a darned cow.  Ugh!!!]   *lol*

Have a good weekend!

Love,

 Jennelle

Hi, Miss Catherine.  Thank you for sharing your pictures.  I've enjoyed wearing dresses and skirts more too.  I've thought about wearing them all the time but I'm not there yet.  They are definitely more comfortable than pants or jeans.  I enjoy looking feminine too.  Now if I weren't such a klutz I wouldn't almost trip on the stairs wearing my dress/skirt.  Have a good day!

Mrs. Catherine,

Thank you so much for your post! It's so encouraging to see godly women dressing this way, and you look so lovely in your skirt and apron (I just love aprons too).

Having a post like this sounds like a neat idea, I think I may join you one day!

        Have a great day,

I just love this site. You truly are an inspiration.  I grew up without a mother, she died when I was only 4 years old, I am now embarking 40.  I have always depended on reading and using other women as examples.  You certainly have inspired me to be more femimine and not settle for my home to look okay, I want it to look wonderful, just like yours, it is soo clean and crisp.  Keep up the good work.  Your mother did a great job with you, she must be proud.  Be blessed.

Growing up my mother did not want me cleaning house, cooking in the kitchen or doing any outside yard work.  I think she had illusions of grandeur for me.  All of this came to a screeching halt when my parents separated and I had to learn how to do all these things for the first time in my life.  I'm still learning!!!
