Wearing Dresses & Skirts - Day Three (Saturday)Day Three! I have received the neatest comments and emails from Ladies since posting the Wearing Dress & Skirts Pictorial. Questions regarding being more feminine, finding clothing for our daughters that modest and one regarding the color in our music room. I will share with you all the links I have found to be very helpful to me in my journey as we go along.
Saturdays I try to keep free or have in the past when Blaine went to a 9 to 5 kind of job so that we could spend that time together. Now that he is home 24/7 our days are still busy with the magazine but we have a bit more freedom as to our days. I still try to keep some sort of schedule and keep my Saturdays free for other things that may come up. The only thing I have scheduled on my To Do List is the Front and Back Porch...
Detailing

Well...today we had rain and snow for most of the day. It was beautiful! You can't tell it is snowing in this picture...unless maybe you click on it and get the bigger picture...

So I guess that marks me off for that job?! Nooooo! We can have just as much fun indoors as we do out. Find something to do constructive.

Blaine was busy painting the rest of the kitchen so my idea of making apple butter is out of the question. I did not know he was planning on doing this and maybe he decided to finish painting this very morning but I did not allow that to upset my plans...I simply redirected them. <winking> I am glad he is finishing this up and by Monday the kitchen will be completely painted!
I decided to wrap my little Valentines gifts to Sarah and David. Lillian's I had mailed earlier in the week but I still needed to finish wrapping the youngest two. I have an under the bed box that I use to store my wrapping stuff...

It fits neatly underneath and is easily accessible especially when I need to wrap gifts that little eyes don't need to see.

I keep pretty colored pens, note cards/envelops, ribbons in different colors, wrapping paper for all occasions, tissue papers, gift bags, tape, scissors, stickers and a melted wax enscriber kit (I just love sealing packages with the red wax using my hearts stamp).

I will pick up little items here and there to add to my wrapping box. I have found the dollar stores and Big Lots to have some nice little finds and very cheaply. The fun is adding those extra little touches to a gift.

With my wrapping done,I think this is a good time to clean this container out and take stock of what I actually have in here. With several little hands going through the wrapping container it tends to get disorganized. Here I'm grouping like things together before placing back in...

Much better! Place the lid back on and slide back under the bed! Done!
I did busy myself with other activities throughout the day. Lunch to be made (carefully around the paint)...writing some thank you notes...

We have had the most wonderful welcome here. A dear lady from our church dropped off jellies/jams that she canned. The strawberry (my favorite) was the first to go and we have enjoyed every single bite of her delicious preserves! I wanted to make sure she knew how much by hand writing her a thank you note. I love getting cards and letters in the mail and they are much more a welcomed sight and preferable to getting bills!
With the rain/snow outside (which was not sticking to the ground yet) David and I decided to play a few games. We have a closet full of games and we love playing them. It is a great way to spend time together as a family and far better than any television program on these days!

Towards the end of the day on Saturdays, I try to prepare for Sunday...

We usually have our Sunday Dinners in the Dining Room. I like to set the table ahead of time. Tomorrow we will have ham, homemade mac-n-cheese, green beans, homemade cornbread and salad. I try to serve dinner at around 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. This gives me time to prepare what we need and rest a bit throughout the day before going back to church for evening services.

David loves to see that spoon above the plate. He sees that and knows that we are having dessert! He will try and guess what it is the whole time we are eating dinner...this truly makes me just smile!
I also like to iron any clothing we may need for church. I let the children pick out their clothes and if anything needs ironing they bring them to me. If you rush about on Sunday mornings...try taking some of those things you normally leave to the last minute and have done the night before. It sure does help going to church with the right frame of mind and really takes less time when you are not rushed into doing them.

Now...for some links. Pamela Spurling, whom I'm sure many of you know by now, has got to be one of the most beautiful Ladies I have ever met online. When you go to her site you will understand why and what her secret is to her beauty! She has posted articles, links on why we should dress modestly and femininely but also links to companies that sell and make dresses for mothers and daughters along with some that sell patterns. I highly recommend you take some time to read through all the links...maybe with your cup of tea or coffee and enjoy because once you start reading all that she has you will be glued to the screen!
