Blessed Is She...

As a busy wife and mother, it is hard to remember why we do what we do.  One can get easily discouraged in the day to day daily duties that sometimes seem endless and many times...pointless.  It can be such a struggle to be the wife and mother we want to be.  We constantly fight with being tired or over-burdened with this, that and the other.  Sometimes we can lose sight of our purpose.  I found this beatitude in an Amish cookbook that is just beautiful...

Beatitudes For Homemakers
 by Ella May Miller

Blessed is she whose daily tasks are a work of love; for her willing hands and happy heart transform duty into joyous service to all her family and God.
Blessed is she who opens the door to welcome both stranger and well-loved friends; for gracious hospitality is a test of brotherly love.
Blessed is she who mends both stockings and broken toys and broken hearts; for her understanding is a balm to her husband and children.
Blessed is she who scours and scrubs; for well she knows that cleanliness is one expression of godliness.
Blessed is she whom children love; for the love of a child is of greater value than fortune or fame.
Blessed is she who sings in her work; for music lightens the heaviest load and brightens the dullest chore.
Blessed is she who dusts away doubt and fear and sweeps all the cobwebs of confusion; for her faith will triumph over all adversity.
Blessed is she who serves laughter and smiles with every meal; for her cheerfulness is an aid to mental and physical digestion.
Blessed is she who introduces Jesus Christ to her children; for Godly sons and daughters shall be her reward.
Blessed is she who preserves the sacredness of the Christian home; for hers is a divine trust that crowns her with dignity.

What we do is truly important and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!  God thinks highly of our positions as wives and mothers - enough to tell us many times over in His Word.

You are a blessing and what you do is worthwhile!

Love and God's Blessings to You All,

flowergreenyello  Mrs. Catherine

Thank you for posting that!! I battle with myself off and on all the time. I've been doing ok lately, but those Beatitudes are wonderful. I think I may just print them out on nice "decorated" paper and hang them somewhere so I may read them every day and/or any time I need a little encouragement!!

Hi Mrs. Catherine!

Thank you so much for the sweet comment and the links for background pics and colors!  It will really come in handy! I've already been looking around on the sites!

I really enjoyed reading this post, (even though I'm not yet a mother) but plan to be a homemaker one day!  But many of them can be applied to unmarried ladies as well!

Thanks for sharing!

~Michelle

At each day , its task .
You came today on my site some minutes befor I post . But as always my post is not as much  reflected as the yours . They are light !

Greetings of peace in Jesus' name to you this morning Mrs. Catherine,

I just had to take a moment to tell you how VERY much I appreciate the lovely classical selection you have playing in the background of your blog! I have wanted for so long to get more familiar with classical music and find a way to play pieces I like for my family, especially my children during the day. But time being so limited...Your blog is a one stop solution! The pieces are justy beautiful!

Thank you so much,

Lori Ann in L.A.

Thank you so much, Cat, for the name of that book! We live in an Amish/Mennonite community, too, so I see many Amish cookbooks but never know which one to buy! :) I will look for that one in particular and let you know if I find it! Does it list an author?

I hope you're having a blessed day in the Lord.
Love,
Laurie

Thank you Catherine for your kind comment .about my " paintings " that remain the modest work of a youngster . I posted them because I felt to meet myself through a  lifetime in spite of the change in our civilization and society .
But I liked your friendly comment

Love

Cat, I just want to tell you that I appreciate all of your sweet and uplifting posts, they really make me smile inside and out!

I can't wait until I reach a point in my life where I can really express my deepest feelings and thoughts without worrying about what others may think.  I admire that about you! and the funny thing is.... People have those same feelings and thoughts but are afraid to say them, so it helps to have someone like you!

God Bless You and Your Family & xoxo to you too :)

Ella May Miller was a Mennonite lady who had a short daily radio program for homemakers years and years ago.  I haven't heard of it lately, so I'm sure it is long gone.  The message is still a good reminder for us today.
