Triune Praise

by Shai Linne

VERSE 1
Praise God the Father, the Immortal Creator (1 Cor. 8:6)
For Your glory you made us (Is. 43:6), You’re the Sovereign
Orchestrator (Eph. 1:11)
All that You decree will most surely come to happen (Is. 14:24)
You’re awesome as can be and Your glory none can fathom
(Ps. 104:1)
Nothing could ever stain You, the heavens can’t contain You
(2 Chron. 6:18)
We thank You for sending Your Son to explain You (John 1:18)
Otherwise we would have remained in the dark
but You sent Your Holy Spirit to spark a change in our hearts
(Matt. 4:16-17, 2 Cor. 4:6)
According to Your eternal purpose and will
You determined to reveal Yourself to those who deserve to be killed
(Luke 10:21, Rom. 1:32)
Those of us whom You foreknew adore You
We praise You that You predestined us to be conformed to
The image of Your Son who’s the radiance of Your glory
(Romans 8:29, Heb. 1:3)
When I meditate on it, the weightiness of it fl oors me (1 Chron. 16:25,
Psalm 139:6)
So Father, we’ll praise you over and over again (Ps. 34:1)
Because You sent Your only Son to atone for our sins (Dan. 9:24,
1 John 4:9)

CHORUS
Glory to the Father, Glory to the Son,
Glory to The Spirit- Three and Yet One
One in Your essence, Three in Your Person
The same in Your nature, distinct in Your working
Oh my soul- behold the wonder of the Trinity
Blessed be the Trinity, Oh, what a mystery!
I’ll stand amazed for the rest of my days
Pouring out my heart in Triune praise

VERSE 2
Praise God the Son, Second Person of the Trinity (Acts 7:55,
2 Cor. 13:14, Gal. 4:6)
You’re distinct from the Father yet you share in His divinity
(John 8:18, John 14:10)
Fulfi lling an eternal covenant You came through (Hebrews 13:20)
To planet earth to save all who the Father gave You (John 6:37-40,
John 17:9, 24)
You became a man of sorrows, acquainted with grief (Isaiah 53:3)
For the glory of Your Father You extinguished the beef
(John 12:27-28)
That stood between us at the cross- the Father’s anger released
(Col. 1:22-23, 1 John 2:2)
The Shepherd slain for the sheep, the situation is deep (John 10:11)
I can’t fi nd the right language to speak, in fact it’s making me weep-
Just the thought of You saving this creep (1 Tim. 1:15)
You’re risen from the dead, I still can’t get this in my head (2 Tim. 2:8)
How the Judge could leave the bench and go to prison instead
(John 5:22, Act 17:31)
Lord Jesus, you’re amazing, Your bleeding is what saved men
(Rev. 1:5)
It’s the reason why I’m praising, can’t wait to see Your face
(2 Thess. 1:10, Hebrews 9:28)
In the meantime, please help us to see You as colossal
And by the Spirit live lives that’s worthy of the gospel (Phil. 1:27)

CHORUS
Glory to the Father, Glory to the Son
Glory to The Spirit- Three and Yet One
One in Your nature, Three in Your Person
The same in Your essence, distinct in Your working
Oh my soul- behold the wonder of the Trinity
Blessed be the Trinity, Oh, what a mystery!
I’ll stand amazed for the rest of my days
pouring out my heart in Triune praise

VERSE 3
Praise God the Holy Spirit, 3rd person of the Trinity (Mat. 28:19)
Distinct from Father and Son, yet share in Their divinity (Acts 5:3-4,
2 Cor. 3:17)
Holy Spirit we praise You, You don’t like the spotlight
You’d rather point away from yourself and give props to Christ
(John 15:26, John 16:13-14)
And yet because You’re God, You deserve veneration (Mark 3:29)
And You’re the One responsible for our regeneration (John 3:5-6)
You apply the fi nished work of Christ to all the elect (John 6:37,
1 Peter 1:1-2)
Your call is effectual- You haven’t lost one yet (Romans 8:30,
2 Thess. 2:13-14)
You comfort us when sin, Satan and the world got us bothered
(Acts 9:31)
And it’s only by You that we cry out “Abba Father” (Gal. 4:6)
You’re the Spirit of adoption, the Spirit of Truth, (Romans 8:15,
John 14:16-17)
You graciously provide Your people with the gifts and the fruit
(1 Cor. 12:1-11, Gal. 5:22)
You help us kill sin and You detach us from our idols (Romans 8:13)
If it wasn’t for You, we’d never understand the Bible (1 Cor. 2:13,
Ps. 119:18)
Because You wrote it- For our life it will surely suffi ce (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
Amazingly, You do it all for the glory of Christ! (John 16:14)

This Breaks My Heart of Stone

Jesus let thy pitying eye
Call back a wandering sheep.
False to Thee like Peter, I
Would fain, like Peter, weep.
Let me be by grace restored;
On me be all it’s freeness shown
Turn and look upon me Lord;
And break my heart of stone
And break my heart of stone.

Savior, Prince, enthroned above,
Repentance to impart,
Give me, through Thy dying love,
The humble, contrite heart;
Give what I have long implored,
A portion of Thy love unknown;
Turn, and look upon me, Lord,
And break my heart of stone.
And break my heart of stone.

Look, as when Thy pitying eye
Was closed that we might live;
“Father,” at the point to die
My Savior cryed, “forgive!”
Surely, with that dying word,
He turns, and looks, and cries, “’Tis done!”
O my bleeding, loving Lord,
This breaks my heart of stone!
This breaks my heart of stone!

Revolution In World Missions

I think every Christian should read this book.  It is very convicting.

Here is something from My Utmost for His Highest that really encouraged me the other day.

After Obedience - What?

"And straightway He constrained His disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side..."
Mark 6:45

We are apt to imagine that Jesus Christ constrains us, and we obey Him, He will lead us to great success.  We must never put our dreams of success as God's purpose for us; His purpose may be exactly the opposite. We have an idea that God is leading us to a particular end, a desired goal; He is not. The question of getting to a particular end is a mere incident. What we call the process, God calls the end.
What is my dream of God's purpose? His purpose is that I depend on Him and on His power now. If I can stay in the middle of the turmoil calm and unperplexed, that is the end of the purpose of God. God is not working toward a particular finish; His end is the process - that I see Him walking on the waves, no shore in sight, no success, no goal, just the absolute certainty that it is all right because I see Him walking on the sea. It is the process, not the end, which is glorifying to God.
God's training is for now, not presently. His purpose is for this minute, not for something in the future. We have nothing to do with the afterwards of obedience; we get wrong when we think of the afterward. What men call training and preparation, God calls the end.
God's end is to enable me to see that He can walk on the chaos of my life just now. If we have a further end in view, we do not pay sufficient attention to the immediate present: if we realize that obedience is the end, then each moment as it comes is precious.

I got baptized yesterday and this is my testimony that I shared with my church.

When I was twelve, I prayed a prayer and “Asked Jesus to come into my heart” so that I would be less lonely.

My life was not any different from anyone in the world, I didn’t hunger for God’s Word, and I had no desire to pray or to be in fellowship with other believers. Nonetheless, I believed I was a Christian because I prayed on occasion and felt bad when I sinned. When I was twenty, I heard a sermon that caused  me begin to doubt whether I was a true believer. The text for this sermon was Matthew 7:13-27. Verses 21-23 especially stuck out to me; Jesus preached this to His disciples:

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'

These words terrified me, and though the preacher presented the gospel in all its fullness, I was powerless to respond to it.

I came to Cornerstone last June, and it was my very first experience with a living church full of Christians who understood the Gospel and loved talking about the Lord. To be honest, this irritated me. Their godly lives exposed the utter sinfulness and pettiness of my heart and I hated them for it.

Panic attacks, insomnia, and depression followed for the next several months as I realised how mighty a sinner I truly was against God. In October, I spoke with Pastor Vine and he led me through a number of Scriptures, but the one that hit me hardest was Ephesians 2:4-5, “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved).”

I realised that I had been trusting in a decision I thought I made when I was 12. However, as this verse points out, I was dead and dead things cannot decide to make themselves live. It is only by the grace of God that we can be saved through Christ’s once-for-all atoning work on the cross. We cannot trust in any human work: not our works, not our personal decisions to follow Christ, not even our own faith.

On October 15, I repented of my sins and began to trust Christ for my salvation. On that day, He gave me a new heart and I began to hate the sin that I once loved. I used to be sorry for my sin because I felt like I’d been caught; now I hate my sin because I want God to be glorified. I love Christ and I love His church. Since God has done this work of genuine salvation in my life, I want to be baptized and to give testimony to what He has done.
