Hornets Tab Armstrong, Simmons, Vinicius

With their pair of first round picks in Wednesday's 2006 NBA Draft, the Hornets selected University of Connecticut forward/center Hilton Armstrong at No. 12 and North Carolina State forward Cedric Simmons at No. 15. Then, New Orleans/Oklahoma City added Brazilian forward Marcus Vinicius with its second-round choice, No. 43 overall. The 6-foot-11 Armstrong averaged nearly 10 points and more than three blocks as a senior last season, and the 6-foot-9 Simmons shot nearly 59 percent from the field en route to 11.8 points per game during his sophomore year. The 6-foot-8 Vinicius averaged 19.5 points per game in the Brazilian Paulista League last season.

Cavaliers Strike Draft Night Gold
The Cavaliers bolstered their backcourt on Wednesday night, tabbing Michigan State guard Shannon Brown at No. 25, Texas guard Daniel Gibson at No. 42 and Nigerian forward Ejike Ugboaja with the 55th pick of the 2006 NBA Draft.
