The Pacers scored a draft-night coup, grabbing Memphis forward Shawne Williams (L) in the first round and trading for Cincinnati guard James White in the second round.
With their pair of first round picks in Wednesday's 2006 NBA Draft, the Hornets selected University of Connecticut forward/center Hilton Armstrong at No. 12 and North Carolina State forward Cedric Simmons at No. 15. Then, New Orleans/Oklahoma City added Brazilian forward Marcus Vinicius with its second-round choice, No. 43 overall. The 6-foot-11 Armstrong averaged nearly 10 points and more than three blocks as a senior last season, and the 6-foot-9 Simmons shot nearly 59 percent from the field en route to 11.8 points per game during his sophomore year. The 6-foot-8 Vinicius averaged 19.5 points per game in the Brazilian Paulista League last season.

Nets Nab UConn's Williams and Boone in First Round
The Nets had two first-round picks in the 2006 NBA Draft and selected a pair of players from UConn. The team chose point guard Marcus Williams with the 22nd selection and his college teammate Josh Boone with the very next pick. New Jersey decided not to pick a third player from the state of Connecticut with their second-round pick, drafting Hassan Adams, a guard out of Arizona, No. 54 overall.
The 76ers introduced their 2006 first round draft choice, Rodney Carney, on June 29. Carney was acquired in a surprising draft night trade with Chicago, and the Sixers also picked up Bobby Jones and Edin Bavcic. The Clippers selected Michigan State center Paul Davis with the 34th overall pick in Wednesday's NBA Draft. Los Angeles added Miami guard Guillermo Diaz with the 52nd pick. J.J. Redick and James Augustine, the newest additions to the Orlando Magic family were introduced on Thursday afternoon. The Magic selected Redick with the No. 11 overall selection in the first round and Augustine's name was called 30 picks later at No. 41
