| Seen any good movies recently?I don't know how often is too often concerning going to movies. I do know twice in a week is unusually often for me though. But that's what I did this week. Those who know me well can probably guess quite easily which flicks I saw. Yes, you got it... "Mamma Mia!" (let's shorten it as MM) and "Sex and the City" (SATC).
I loved MM. And that's not just because I love ABBA. The way they had connected the songs to the story, the jokes, the actors... everything. Of course, this is a movie designed for ABBA fans to take away their Money, Money, Money, but I don't regret any cent I paid for my ticket. I recognize that those who don't like ABBA songs or romantic comedies won't like this one either. But if you love both - like I do - this is a must. Five stars multiplied by two thumbs up makes 10/10.
I was interested to see what would happen in SATC. A few surprises or something predictable? The result was a mix of both, and I liked it that way. The jokes worked for me too. I would have preferred a tiny bit shorter movie and a few adjustments to the story... Carrie's case got resolved a bit too easily while Samantha's one could have taken a little longer time (and end up perhaps differently). Bonus points for Lily and Sam's pet. Those who liked the series have, I guess, already seen this and most likely enjoyed it about as much as I did. 4/5

| God Bless America! For Blessing is exactly what it - and we all - need. And the song is awesome. I recently found the sheet music and am learning how to play it. I hope that someday I can play half as well as this grandpa: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DHK7m8JMGPs

| Sex and the CityI haven't seen the movie yet - but I will - so this entry is about the series. Those that know me well also know that I have even seen every episode at least once, most of them twice. Consequently (?), I get asked which lady I like the best. So far, I haven't given a clear answer, but I'll try to make it clear here now. Here are their pluses and minuses:
Carrie: + best personality - likes shoes and cigarettes too much
Charlotte:
+ most attractive one of the quartet
+ admits liking a certain kinky thing that I'm revealing neither here
nor anywhere else (watch the episodes and make your conclusions if you really want to know)
- too conservative otherwise
Miranda: + Harvard graduate "voice of reason" - least attractive - way too cynical
Samantha: + horny
+ sexually adventurous and open-minded
- too much of a slut, even cheats on her men
So, it's still hard to choose. I'd like to have a combination. Who do you think suits best for me?
And also... who do you like best? And all the girls that are reading this post, which of the many men in the series attracts you most and why?

| There and back againI'm back from south west of England. I had amazing time there. I saw many beautiful places, landscapes and buildings, made new friends, and had lots of fun. Some myths about England got busted too.
I liked English people a lot. They were friendly, laid-back and fun. Sometimes I was a bit lost, though, as they were speaking of something that I had very little information of (but that's understandable - the friend I was visiting had just come back from Moscow, so of course his friends and family wanted to catch up with him). And at first I was struggling with the Bristolian accent, but practice makes perfect... and some of them spoke, fortunately, very clearly.
Besides of Bristol, we visited towns of Bath and Weston-super-mare, which the locals call "Weston-super-mud" for obvious reasons. (If you don't understand, check my photos on Facebook soon.) Those were great, especially Bath thanks to its history, but I liked Bristol best.
A few things deserve a special attention here. On Saturday, April 5th, we went to see Bristol Rovers play Hartlepool. It was my first time watching football (soccer) live at a stadium in England. And I certainly hope I'll do that many times in the coming years. The atmosphere was quite different from what I'm used to back home. The fans were singing and cheering for their team a lot. A local newspaper rated the atmosphere 4/10 or 3/10, IIRC. Sure makes me wonder what it'd be like when it's 8/10 or better.
What about night life then? We went to several pubs and nightclubs, of which I liked this place called Reflex best. If you like 80s pop and rock music like I do, and you happen to be at Bristol, I highly recommend going there. I don't usually sing along songs and dance, but at Reflex I did! A pub worth visiting is King William's. They serve food too and the service is great.
I liked the city center of Bristol very much. There are few big houses and it's very compact. Very much the opposite of my hometown Oulu. I especially liked the bookshops. I bought no less than five books during my visit. (That's very unusual for me, I hardly buy a book in a year.) Those are: - Leon Aaron: Boris Yeltsin - A Revolutionary Life (biography) [a bargain, only £ 0.99!] - Fyodor Dostoevsky: Crime and Punishment - Stephen Hawking: God Created the Integers - Leo Tolstoy: War and Peace - J.R.R. Tolkien: The Hobbit
Next someone asks about English food and girls, I guess. That's where the myths busted. I liked most of the dishes I tried, and same can be said about girls too. Although one thing doesn't seem to change regardless of the country: the best ones are taken.
All in all, I had awesome time in England, and I look forward to go there some time soon again.
