  • Uganda

    Hello,

I'm In Uganda, I arrived two days ago.
Zanzibar was lovely, like a little paradise... I swam in the ocean almost every day, I was the red Kallabus monkeys and just had a very good time.
In Uganda so far I'm settling in, yesterday evening I cooked a home made meal for my sister... And today we will go to a pool and out in the evening.... Kampala is suppose to have a pretty diverse night life...
I plan to go to the source of the Nile in lake Victoria, and also to some water falls and to Queen Elizabeth national park and other stuff... my sister is busy with her work so I'll go on trips with tour organizers here in the city...

    Bye,

    JON

  • it's so nice...
Today I walked around Zanzibar town, the people are so nice, always asking if they can help...
In the mane tourist streets some times they try to sell you a CD or something but once you say I'm not interested a few times they say "Hakunah Mattat" no worries (Like in "the lion king") and leave you alone.
We walked by the fish market and saw all the fishermen and their catches- many different fish, octopuses and squid and even sharks.

Two days ago we went with a boat to an Island near bye, first we sailed to a sand bank that is like a small Island when the tied is low,  we went snorkeling in the coral reefs, after that we had some fresh fruits, then we sailed to the Island and had lunch there, they took us to see Bau Bau trees which are very big trees, and then we sailed to the other side of the land to the Mangrove forests which were in a beautiful lagoon. After that we sailed back to Unguja (Zanzibar's Maine Island). The guys on the boat used the actual sails to get us back (They used the motor on the way there) it was really nice because they use old style sails...

    Thats all for now,

  • I'm in Zanzibar !!!

I landed yesterday at around 14:30 after a whole night of traveling...

The first flight to Addis Abeba was a bout 4 hours, and then I had to wait at Addis air
port around 4 hours till my flight to Zanzibar...
I hardly slept on the way to Addis, so I had to keep myself awaik wich was hard
because it is SOOOOOO boring there... nothing to do...
so I listened to music and tried to read a bit...
after that there was a 2.5 hour flight to Zanzibar with a stop at
Dar Es Salaam... and another 10 minuets to Zanzibar Island...

My parent's house here  is very nice with a wonderful sea view, I have a spacious room,
with a nice bed and romantic looking mosquito net...
After I put all my stuff in the room my Dad took me to a near by for a swim...
we saw submerged Mangrove trees and the water was nice and cool...
Today I must work a bit on the thesis things
but after that I plan to walk a bit in town (and take pictures)
and tomorrow I'll go with my dad and a Friend to "Prison Island" where we will see
    BIG turtles...

    That's all for now,
    Jon

  • What to write about????
I don't really have anything to wrote about... everything is o.k...
I have an exam next week in a course about health policies for the elderly... exciting stuff... NOT
I got a million remarks from my professor on my research proposal and need to change it accordingly.
I also have two mire papers to write (one will be written in Africa along with the proposal's final touches).
My parents are visiting my sister in Uganda and it freaked me out the other day thinking that all the people I care the most about in the world are at the same place... I told  my mom about it on the phone and she replied  that my sister drove them somewhere and they were stuck after a slow car so my sister  said that normally she would pass the slow car but she pitied me... what will I do all alone in the world.... funny and scary at the same time...
I'm a family type of guy... I like having people I know I can trust 100% and they can trust me 100%... it's so good to have that... And besides because we always moved around the world going on my dad's sabbaticals all the time we became very close... all 4 of us...
Still, I'm enjoying being apart from them... my sister learned this along time ago when she insisted on studying far away... I am more reasonable and understood it's better financially to live at home when I studied... though now I'm sure I can't live with them anymore, and won't have too as they are moving to the north in September and I'm getting my apartment back in March... and might move to the USA once I finish my M.A... But I still need the security of knowing that my family is still here to advise me if when need advice and for moral support.

I guess I did have what to write about in the end.
