Last Night I Dreamt of Love and
Love is a five foot three Mexican
with happy
crows feet in the outer corners of his eyes
and a gap
in his two top teeth,
who stands
between me and an army
of Arabian
cooks angry at me
for
ordering the side citrus salad
on the day
that they banned cheese
to honor Al
Fayed’s marriage
to the
Queen of Sheba.
Love is two velvet brown eyes
and a
tattooed bicep which flexes
at the
sight of a bat and says,
“Go on,
Hermosa Preciosa,
Choose
whatever you want,”
and I ask
for extra blue cheese crumble
with
dressing on the side.

| I think I will continue to use Xanga for my Odd Thoughts.
The word "slumber" is strange. It's a good old-fashioned word that we use more as 6-year olds than at any other time in our lives, because someone at sometime coined the phrase "Slumber Party."
I like it.

| Introducing......our new blog! We will probably post a couple more times here, but as of May 26th (the day we graduate) we will be posting exclusively at: http://eastofmina.wordpress.com/ Thank you, Gentle Readers, for all of your support and insight these past four years. It has been a pleasure to share our thoughts with you via Xanga. Much Love, Nienna and Vaire | | |
| "In a real helicopter, you can't just keep going up and up."[crit theory] Dracula, the text, and Mina, the character move from metonymy towards
metaphor through the acceptance the ‘play of language’ in the existence of
binary oppositions; amidst this process Mina’s need to repeat is deconstructed,
while the text remains as a trace of the metonymic motion of the whole.
[doctrine of scripture] (a first draft one)
The authority of the Scripture (based in the authority on their Divine Author,
not in any quality of the text) may be transferred through forms via
translation because content does not hold a one-to-one correlation to form.
[senior thesis]
A denial of metaphysical reality in literary theory leaves no room in
contemporary thought for a reading of Shakespearean Comedy as a festive release
rooted in the idea of difference. Present day difficulties in
interpreting Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night stem from this shift in
philosophical foundations.
[dostoevsky]
In the Brothers Karamazov, Kolya Krasotkin fails three temptations
(memory, idealism & sensuality) which face Alyosha throughout the novel;
his only chance for redemption lies in conversational acceptance of Alyosha’s
rebuke.
