So. I suck at this. As has been previously stated. It's still true.

Erm....I guess....A rundown of important/interesting things that have happened of late?

+ I have a job now. I work at Panera, in Dobbin, as a cashier/bakery person, which is cool. Money is a good thing. And if I close, I get to take stuff home. Super spiffy.

- Creation got rained out this year. Blah. Am v. upset. Wednesday was gonna be brilliant, too....

+ Balticon was super-cool. Got to meet Neil Gaiman--ran into him on the escalator. He's very polite. Also is apparently a well-spring of inspiration for everyone he comes into contact with. Spiffers.

.....

....That's actually about it....

Things to do:

Clean room. this is uber-important.

Organize yarn stash. Also uber-important. It's getting pathetically uncontained.

Start excersizing again. Stop being lazy.

Start writing again. Oddly enough, inspiration for this one came from watching an interview with the afore-mentioned Mr. Gaiman. Well-spring of inspiration, indeed.

Plan get-together with several people, most importantly: Alex, Greg, Orri, and Ashley.

Actually work on learning to spin.

Save up money for a corset? Maybe? I'd have to choose one I like first, and find clothes that I could wear with it, but that shouldn't be too hard....

Blah.....This is a wierd post....Can't think of anything to write....Maybe, if I actually go through with "thing to do" numero cuatro, I can take a page out of Orri's book and post it for critique? I dunno. I sort of started on writing something, but I can't guarentee how long I'll actually keep it up, so it might/might not happen....

Mleh....

Saturday, January 28, 2006

Alright. I officially suck at updating. I think I'm going to quit trying to keep this this going as a life-journal, but I think I am going to use it to keep track of all my knitting/crocheting projects (of which there are many); I've been spending lots of time hanging about the Yarn Harlot's blog, and it's inspired me. Now I just have to find my camera.....

Also: I have officially joined the Knitting Olympics. I'm an honorary member of Team Wales! Yay me!

EDIT: I have documented all my current projects...and have come to the conclusion that I may be just slightly insane. Oh, well.

....I also cannot seem to figure out how to take my already uploaded pictures and put them in my entry....Any suggestions on how to do so?

Friday, December 09, 2005

Update on the College Front: Towson likes me, too, apparently....Now if

I'm updating! Spifferoonies.....

Spent most of the day just hanging out with Leigh and Greg outside of
school; Annette was there for a bit, too, but she had to leave
for volleyball. We were *supposed* to be working on our script for
drama, but we decided it was boring and just sort of talked for a bit.
If, of course, you define "a bit" as 2-and-a-half-to-3 hours....It was
uber-fun, though. I haven't really gotten to spend any time with Leigh
for a very long time, and he needed some pep-talking; he might me
moving to Texas next year. Greg was really cool, too. He's the new kid
at OM (moved here from Nashville), and he seems to be rapidly
moving in the direction of very good friend land.

He knows Veggie Tales songs. No more needs to be said.

Anyway, we were there till 5, and not really getting anything done. It
was really relaxing. I haven't been able to just chill out with any of
my friends since school started, and it was really nice; mesa =
recharged, or something. I have decided that we need to do that more
often, and the other two agree with me.

Granted, all this means that I'm going to be up very late doing
homework, but it was worth it. Next time it should be on a Friday,
methinks....

Classes rock; they're lots of work, but really fun and interesting. I'm learning a lot.

Also; Went to the Renfest on Moday with the fam. Was super-cool, but I
probably already told anyone who cares everything about it. Saw Hack
and Slash, A Fool Named "O," Johnny Fox, the Jousters, the Renaissance
Man, and the Rogues. Got lots of stuff from this place; mesa likes honey....(they had a booth there...)

And my 'net *still* won't let me post music....White Stripes, for any who are interested...

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
5. Don't search around and look for the "coolest" book you can find. Do what's actually next to you.

Is as follows:

"Setting a bad example, ten strokes," said a cold voice from Lan's other side.
        --From Mercedes Lackey's "Brightly Burning"

Apparently the main character is getting beaten. Disciplined. Happy day for him, yeah?

And, yes, I do happen to like depressing books, actually, why do you ask?

thing. She decided to start one of those tag-a-long,
fill-it-out-and-tag-five-more-people-to-do-the-same list thingies, and she tagged me.

Personally, I liked this one:

List 5 reasons why you are a dork. And make them good reasons.
Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud of how big a dork you
are! Then pick the 5 biggest dorks you know and have them do the same.

(1.)
I am a music dork. I love music of (almost) all kinds, and have it
playing almost non-stop in my room. The biggest piece of my dorki-ness
in this particular area, however, is that I love singing little kids
songs. With said little kids. And doing the hand motions. That's
part of why VBS is such a blast for me; Singing (and miming)
"Jesus is Walking on the Lake" (in a country accent, no less...) and "Bigger Fish to Fry" were some of
the high points of my summer. I don't know what it is about pretending
to be a swimming fishy whilst in a mob of 6-year-olds also pretending
to be swimming fishies that makes it so fun, but there you go. You
should try it sometime. Seriously.
(2.) I still sleep with my stuffed animals. A good
number of them, in fact. I actually can't (or, rather, won't) go to
sleep without my big green teddy bear (appropiately named "Teddy") that
I got for Christmas a few years back. If I remember correctly, my
parents got him at Safeway....
(3.) I have a life-sized cardboard cut-out of Legolas
from "The Lord of the Rings" in my room. He is wearing a Cat-in-the-Hat
hat, two "leis" (one made of fabric flowers, the other of that lame,
crinkly-plastic stuff), and too many mardi-gras beads to count. I also
have a map of Middle Earth on my wall.
(4.) I will do almost anything
arts-and-crafts-y. This includes (but is not limited to): drawing,
painting, calligraphy, sculpting, knitting, crocheting, sewing,
cross-stitch, beadwork, jewelry-making, pottery, and latch-hook.
Granted, I might not be good at all of it, but I will do it and enjoy
it just the same. As testament to this fact, I have a toolbox full of
art supplies, a great heaping pile of sketch-books, various canvases,
about 45 gallons worth of yarn, and a bag made entirely out of
duct-tape in my room.
(5.) And my most proudly-displayed dork quality is my
fanatical obsession with all things Buffy. I--or, rather, my parents--
own all seven seasons of Buffy, all five of Angel (the spin-off), and
the lonely one season of Firefly. As anyone who knows me probably
already knows, I've watched all seven seasons of Buffy straight through
so many times that I've lost track of the exact number of times I have
done so. The language of the show is so fully ingrained in my head that
not only do I speak in a manner similar to the characters, but I say a
rather large number of their lines on a regular basis (sadly,
sometimes, without realizing it). I read the fanfiction. I could give you a plot synopsis of
practically any episode you choose to mention (if you give me a basic
plot detail to start with; I'm not quite so bad that I know all the
episode names by heart yet. Give me time, though, and I will....)
I am the BtVS version of a Trekkie. Were I given to blasphemy, I would
say that Joss Whedon is God. As, however, I like to think of myself as
a person who doesn't say that sort of thing (and let's face it, nobody
can beat the Big Dude Upstairs), Joss has been relegated to Reigning
Earthly Genius status. Sad for him.

Yay me! I'm a dork!

My dorks:
uno AgainstTheGrain98
dos stealthyduster
tres singing_duck
quatro GaymTyme
cinco drama_frog

...I figured that my having inherited the official "Drama Dork" title at
school was too easy, and so left it out of the running. As it was, I
still had a bunch of things to choose from....I worked pretty hard on
this one, Jenny. You're welcome.

Also: I'm going to a White Stripes concert!!! September 27, at Merriwhether. SOOOO excited!

Went on a college visit to UMCP. Loved it muchley. Really, really,
really want to go there, especially if I get invited to join the CIVICUS
program there (which is invitation only). Would say more on that
subject, but I'm just a touch to tired at the moment. Suffice to say I
only have to find to more colleges to apply to and I should be good.
College Park looks like it's going to be my top choice, though.

Got my Schedule for next year. Is as follows:

PD 1: ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE AP, Cook
PD 2: ENGLISH 12 AP, Wright
PD 3: SPANISH V AP, Hyde
PD 4A: PSYCHOLOGY, Klingner
PD 4B: DRAMA IV, Unknown
PD 5: CALCULUS AB AP, Yore
PD 6: ART I, Leatherman

Spiffers. It'll be fun, but I'm going to die...Makes me glad I decided not to do the Field Hockey thing this year....

...And my Internet doesn't seem to want to let me show what music I'm listening to....Suckiness......
Monday, June 27, 2005

Yeah....I've got a lot to talk about and not much time to say it in, so
I'm think I'm mostly gonna wait. I will say however that I spent the
majority of the day doing yardwork (trying to earn money for Creation),
and I now have a total of 14 mosquito bites. 14.

Mesa being eaten alive.......

O.o....
