Update out of boredom

Alright, I haven't updated xanga in a very long time.  Not that anyone really cares, haha

So, today whilst bored as shit at work I thought to myself that I don't have any pictures of my meager basketball shoe collection all together.  This coupled with the fact that it's NBA playoff time, I decided to pull them out of my closet and see how many I've gathered over the years.  Yeah I already know I'm lame, but thanks for playing

as I said, I don't really have that many shoes as I just pick them up as I see 'em or if some good ones are coming out.  I haven't gotten any gems off ebay in like a year as well.  I have to thank my big bro for the latest addition of the flips.  I would have missed out on that pick up.

A side note:  I've been cooking a lot more lately (read that as actually cooking once or twice a week, I never eat out during the week, but cereal, oatmeal, and pasta isn't really cooking).  I think it has to do with all the food blogs I've been reading, but any time I see something I wanna make, e-mail myself the recipe to store on gmail.  I'm actually starting to form a back log of shit I need to get to.

*edit* favorites are the jordan III and the jordan XI (third pic, front row, left hand side)

I gotta get better at this updating thing

ok well it is almost the new year, so I gotta review if I achieved my goal from last year.  Answer: No, but I was actually getting there and am in a better situation than I was. So I'll renew that resolution for this year.  More or less the goal without the specifics or the desired outcome was to eat healthier and work out.  I honestly think I would have achieved my goal if I didn't complete destroy my body every weekend with alcohol. It's like studying for a test all week and then showing up with no sleep and drunk to actually take it.  You can still skate by considering you know you're shit, but you're gonna make stupid mistakes and not be anywhere near where you could be.

The new one for this year besides the continuation of last year's is the addition of my developmental engineering concepts into my life.  If you've ever talked to me for more than two seconds in the past year about how I would raise my kids, I've told you that I'm gonna do tons of social engineering or as I would like to call it developmental engineering on them to set them up right for life.  (I wrote this big long thing describing in detail what I want to do, but it was boring and it's more fun to keep shit to myself, haha)

So I hit up Union Square Cafe with the lambda steak night crew tonight.  I was rather unimpressed with the place.  Don't get my wrong the food was good and just the company with bros I don't see so often is worth the hit to the wallet.  The Tuna Tartar was damn good.  honestly I can't get enough of raw tuna, don't ask me why.  The Pork Porterhouse was tasty but it was way to chewy and the sides with it weren't up to par.  The banana tart for desert wasn't the best either.  I'd rank that on the lower end of all the steak nights I've been to in terms of the food.  Gotham Bar and Grill is still tops for me.

The fuckin train ride home is a god damn bitch just because of how boring it is.  I wish my ipod wasn't fubar'ed so I could have some sort of a distraction, but alas that twas not meant to be.  It actually might have been a good thing that my phone was dead because txt messages are the devil and I think I'm gonna move on from them.  They've been the source of far more evil than their good deeds should ever allow.

Been a Second

Damn, it's been over a month since I've posted on xanga.  I really haven't been doing much interesting activities (not counting drunken misadventures), though I'm gonna gripe about some shit that annoys me on the way to work and back now a days.  I got my fucking EZ-pass suspended for 60 days.  Now I gotta be a schmuck going through the tolls the slow way again.  It happened for the stupidest reason too.  I went through the high speed ez-pass lane (20 mph) at 30 mph twice in two consecutive days.  I got the warning at the same time as the notice that I'm gonna be paying cash for 60 days.  oh well, it'll be a nice christmas present to be able to use EZ-pass again, haha.  Thing is that I don't understand it because I hit the 5mph tolls at ~20mph, so I guess they have tighter restrictions on the high speed tolls.

ok, so even I think this next part has no basis and I'm just a nut job, but I got interested in zippo lighters again. (yeah, I know I don't smoke) Ok, so zippo lighters have been standard issue for US soldiers in the past, so I was reading a story about ones from the Viet Nam war.  The soldiers out there would put interesting engravings on them and personal messages.  Here's one of my favorites:

Ok, so the point to this story was that I got interested in war issue lighters and really liked WWII lighters.  Basically they are slightly different from the zippos of today.  They are slightly less curved on the edges, made of steel instead of brass (brass was used in bullet casings, so it was in short supply during the war), and they came in a black crackle finish to prevent rust (as they were now steel).  So I started a hunt to pick one up, and they aren't that rare and can be had on ebay.  Only thing is that the one I was checking out went for $130 bucks and there is no guarantee that it would actually work since they have gotten the crap kicked out of them and are fairly rusted.  In the end I bought a replica of the 1941 lighter for about the price of a normal lighter (a cop out I know).

This brings the number of zippos I own up to 3.  hahaha, I like to collect random items, oh well, I could have worse habits.

*edit*
ok so Viet Nam fixed, thanks for the learning
