| If love is a universal emotion, then the pain it often causes is
equally universal. Yet, that only begs the more important
question:
Why do sad poems and songs of emotional pain bring each of us a
strange kind of pleasure? I'm sure a psychologist has an answer
to that question, and I'm just as sure that it's a different answer
than a poet would give. Maybe, in the end, the answer really
isn't so complex. A burden born
by one can often grow too heavy to bear. Perhaps, in the end,
sharing our pain is the only way we can live with it. That's
probably what each of those sad poems and songs are about - sharing.
SOW (Song of the Week): All-4-One - Not Ready For Goodbye. This
is an old school song, but it still sounds painfully good. Haha.

| It's been quite some time since I posted my last entry. I have
many things to say, but I don't want to say them. I don't want to
make this a personal diary of mine. Thus, if I have something
profound or interesting to say then I would certainly share. A
few days ago, I was browsing the internet for good music to listen
to. I ended up on the Boyz II Men's official homepage and
discovered that my favorite group of all time just released a new album
called "Throwback" this past summer. This new album is an
impressive tribute to several timeless classics. The group
carefully picked each track, covering it reverentially, but adding
their own unique flair to it. With all the mainstream going hip
hop, hit music does not necessarily mean good music. Nowadays,
many popular songs don't even have meaningful lyrics anymore.
However, Boyz II Men keeps it real. They didn't worry much about
the financial aspect of the business when they made this new album for
those who simply want to hear good music. I listened to several
tracks from the album. The music was smooth. I reminisce
about the good old days when music on the radio was actualy quality
music. The perfect example is Mariah Carey. Her vocal was
awesome back then. Now, she has changed a lot with her
music. It still sounds good, but the quality of her music surely
won't last forever like from earlier years. Let's listen in to the
classic Love Takes Time by Mariah Carey.

| I needed to go to the UCI financial aid office to drop off a document
today. As I was walking up the staircase to get on the bridge, I
heard a girl's voice saying, "Hi Lawrence." I turned toward the
patio of Lee's Sandwiches and I saw a girl waving at me. I had
not a clue who she was because I wasn't wearing my glasses. I
squinted really hard to get a better view, but I'm too blind for that
to work now. Then I looked at the guy sitting next to her.
He kind of looked like Austin, so I thought the girl was Quyen.
However, I wasn't sure. I said hi back to her and asked who she
was, but she wouldn't tell me. I was embarrassed so I apologized
and quickly walked across the bridge. It still bothered me a lot
that I couldn't see who the girl was. After I dropped off the
document, I took the bridge to go back to my apartment again.
This time, I stared both of them down while walking. I still
couldn't see who the girl was and the guy didn't look like Austin this
time around, so I have no idea who the girl was anymore. I
just gave up and left. Haha. I love the world of blurry
images. It's so fun. I see you but I don't see you.

| I just finished my first session with UCI TEACH 2005 this past
weekend. I had a really good time with everyone. It was
probably my best experience as an RA in my three years doing
this. Everyone had so much energy and enthusiasm throughout the
program. It was incredible. I am excited to start my
credential program and become a high school math teacher.
Yay. Oh my goodness, I feel old though. I dread the sound
of "Mr. Win." Noooooooooooo!

Congratulations to my fellow class of 2005 graduates.
