| | Somedays I wonder what would happen if I were to leave the straight and narrow. Mostly, these days come when I look at my checkbook. If I was ever to steal, I'd steal from a bank. And I'd steal from Wachovia bank. The Wachovia bank in Bloomfield, CT. (Wonder how many FBI red flags that triggered.) I don't really have a problem with banks, bankers have to make a living too. I'm really just jealous that I'm not in their racket. They've got these student loans, one of which I had the misfortune of qualifying for. 6%? That's not too bad. Too bad it goes up. Now it's 8%. Too bad it compounds daily. Yes daily. And when you ask how much it'll take to finish your loan, they just tell you the principle, those sleazy shylocks. They'll just let your interest keep accruing 'till you're working 20 hours a day just to keep up with the minimums. I went to pick up my new glasses today. Drove to the eyeglass store, went up the counter, and the lady asked if I was here to pick up. Yes, I said, I'm picking up glasses. Just so we were absolutely clear that I wasn't picking up anything else at a store that only sells glasses. I was always good with the words.
Money again. The average American citizen has between $8-9,000 of credit card debt. This is a very large sum for an individual. The American goverment has a debt of some incomprehensible number. Since we live in a republic, the government is a reflection of the people, and if people are complaining about the government being in debt, they need get their own financial houses in order as well. The government spends too much, yes, but so do private people. It's not just the politicians, Left and Right, who are financially irresponsible.
