| BIG THANKS TO ABBY, LAUREN, and THE TWINS for making this trip an amazing experience! I love you all!
Hey there! The following is my 30 Seconds To Mars concert and meeting recap. I know it is really long, but I wrote down everything just so I could remember it as well. If you don't have time to read the whole thing, at least enjoy the pics! I had an awesome time!
I was very nervous about attending the Mars concert in Albuquerque even though I had seen them in Oklahoma City a few months ago. I had joked for months in advance about making a shirt that on the front said "As A Goose" and on the back said "Wanna Flock?" It was supposed to be a play on the whole Jared being gay scandal that ironically enough hit the news the day after the Oklahoma show. I thought it might be too embarassing to wear, or that Jared would absolutely hate it. I didnt want to make an ass of myself. Jared can sometimes be hard to read mood wise. I got to meet Jared and Shannon ( but not Tomo or Matt) in Oklahoma , and they were both wonderfully nice, but I didnt know if he/they would appreciate the humor in it. Under the strong urging of my friends, I decided to go for it. I went balls out having a 50/50 shot...
Now, I am SO glad I did. As you have probably read, the concert was amazing! The crowd was definitely crazy (and at times somewhat dangerous), but it was definitely a high energy show, and a lot of fun to be a part of. After the show, the guys came out. Shannon walked by first, and I was still working up my gumption to talk to him. He took a picture of my friends Lindsay (InASong) and Maegans shirts, but he didnt seem to notice mine as he was walking by and mingling with the crowd.
I saw Jared slowly making his way toward my area, so I figured I would catch Shannon on the way back. I kinda got lost in a daze talking to some people, and I brought back to reality by Jared's voice. He walked toward me and he said "That is fucking hysterical". I almost died right then... I hadn't even realized he was right beside me, and for him to notice my shirt first thing was amazing. Jared started laughing, and I started smiling... I was just so happy he noticed my shirt. He asked me if Shannon had seen it, and I said no. He told me to go get Shannon because "he had to take a picture of it". Jared said he would wait for me in that area of people till I came back.
In my head, I was thinking it was all so unreal. So I "waddled" (the only way to describe my walk at the time) down the street to go get Shannon. I felt weird going to get Shannon because he was just down by us earlier, and I didnt want the other people he was with to get upset. Shannon was taking a picture with some girls, and when he was finished, I said (in a nervous little boy voice) "Umm Shannon, Jared wants you down there" He said he would be back down there in just a second. I waddled back over to Jared and told him Jared. Jared said it was cool, and he asked if Tomo had seen the shirt. I said he hadnt been down here yet, and he insisted I show Tomo when I got a chance. Jared was laughing and having a good time about my shirt, and with the fans, and that is when Shannon came back down. Shannon took a picture of just my shirt, and then Jared wanted to hop in one picture, so he took a picture with both of us. I was thrilled because not only did I get a picture with Jared on MY camera, but Shannon took one of us together on HIS camera... Me and Jared in their own personal pic..O happy day...
Then I asked Shannon if he would jump in a picture with me, which he did. He sorta gave me the pursy lips, and it was great! He also enjoyed the shirt. Jared and Shannon continued down the line of fans making the rounds. I decided to check out my camera and see how the picture of Jared and I turned out. I liked it a lot, but the flash in the picture really drowned both Jared and I out. I think it reflected off the glass behind us. Jared seemed to be in a good mood, so I debated asking for another picture. During my debate, Tomo came by. He looked at my shirt and said "OMG that is fucking funny!" It was so cute. He stopped. Took another glance. Then busted up again. He was like a little kid. He started asking me about the shirt etc... and then he turned the conversation around. He said he didnt understand "why that was such a big deal" and that it was "completely blown out of proportion". He started to list a number of reasons when my friend Abby jumped in saying that the whole issue "never mattered in the first place". To this, Tomo practically screamed "exactly", and then he and my friend Abby began talking about PR, interviews, and a number of other things. It was really cute and fun. Tomo is such a nice guy and very easy to talk to. As he and Abby were talking, I noticed that Jared was almost done talking to the rest of the people, and I became worried that I may not get a better pic with him. I tried to exscuse myself from the conversationg, and I felt like a butthead after the fact. If I could change that, I would have, but Tomo was cool about it, and he and my friend continued talking.
I went down to Jared and asked him if he "would mind taking another picture because the other one didn't really turn out.." He said "did you not like the one?" very concerned, and I said "No it was good" but explained that it was kinda shiny.. He said sure, and he didnt seem to mind. He almost seemed happy. He put his arm around my shoulder and I asked him "What kind of face" he was going to make for the picture. He said he was going to make his "handsome face" that he was going to bring out his "Blue Steel" look , those were his words not mine . We took the picture and it was a lot of fun. Then JARED said "lets take another one... a fun one"... I had to ask myself if I heard right. Did Jared really ask to take another one? He did, and it was a lot of fun... By far all of this was anything more than I could have imagined... Jared was so nice, and he was really cool about the whole thing... Everyone was... Shannon , Tomo, and Matt also liked it. They all really made me feel special, and very comfortable... Who knew it was going to be such a hit? The concert was great, the guys were great, and I have never had such a great time meeting people (both members of the board and the guys themselves) Everyone seemed to be so happy, and the night was definitely one I will never forget.
Hope you like the pics!
